Yes watch those rear subframe mounts. I’m repairing the left one on the 1990 300D 2.5 as we speak. I did the right in the fall. I’m able to do them with the subframe in situ but that’s because they haven’t yet collapsed! Re: [MBZ] What might be wrong with this generator?
Looks just like my Generac. What the hell is "limp mode?" Looks like significant weather exposure. From the description, this one starts but then what? Winds down? Stops abruptly? My Generac has a pure mechanical governor and maybe this one may have a governor (or LP solenoid) issue. All of the start-stop (and transfer switch logic) is in that exposed compartment on the right. I might buy such a thing but only for very little money and then only after more investigation, starting with the model number, some study of the manuals, and questioning the owner on maintenance, symptoms, and troubleshooting to date. These things usually come with an automatic transfer switch (which is not cheap) , is that included? I tend to suspect a fuel/regulator problem. -Original Message- From: Mercedes On Behalf Of Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes Sent: Sunday, May 16, 2021 4:30 PM To: Mercedes Discussion List Cc: Kaleb Striplin Subject: [MBZ] What might be wrong with this generator? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/198206362121902/ Sent from my iPhone ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] Seems like a good deal on this Koehler
4kW is woefully undersized for most folks. I think 10-12kW is more what is thought of as 'whole house'. Smaller than the usual rope-pull genny. You could make it work, but you'd probably better be thinking 'tiny house', or maybe Green Acres. The usual electric hot water heater (tank) is 4+kW all by itself. Leaving _zero_ for lights, etc. Likely it is 2 2kW single-phase windings, which means that depending on how your house is wired, you might only get half of the 4kW, effectively. (Since I very much doubt it'd have the necessary balancing transformer to guarantee 4kW under all circumstances.) -- Jim ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] 124 radio display inop — backlight?
This was a replacement the PO had when my daughter bought the car, I put it in. The display on the original went bad too (I think it was actually the LCD went bad). This one worked for awhile and it too went out but just the light. I don’t want to spend money on the car as I’m thinking to sell it after I fix the front brakes. I guess I’ll just live with it for now. The radio works you just can’t see the display. I got the driver door panel back on after replacing the regulator so that’s all buttoned up. Had to chase all over to find some rubber cement for the liner. Go figure. The old regulator didn’t look bad so not sure what was wrong with it. In any case the new one was only like $25 and is ok aside from a coupla bolt holes not lining up. --FT Sent from iPhone > On May 16, 2021, at 5:21 PM, Dan Penoff via Mercedes > wrote: > > You can, but you can also buy a rebuilt faceplate from Becker Auto Sound > that has been completely reworked for around $125 last time I checked. > Replacing the lamps is tough but doable, it involved disassembling the > faceplate and desoldering the old “grain of wheat” bulbs and soldering the > new ones in. > > -D > >> On May 16, 2021, at 5:18 PM, Buggered Benzmail via Mercedes >> wrote: >> >> I’m guessing it’s the backlight since I can shine a flashlight on the >> display and it will show stuff. It’s a Generac. That’s the first issue. Second, it’s probably more expensive to repair than it was to replace. There’s a reason why the previous owner elected to do this. After driving this detour for nearly 2 hours on the back roads, I am about 10 minutes away and he texts me saying he just sold the car. Wtf dude? You set the time, you set the price, I told you I was bringing cash, you knew I was coming from hours away. I was not really nice in my response to him. He says somebody just drove up and paid cash. Funny thing is he says he would not be there until noon and this was a good 30 minutes before that. Guy just happened to be driving by my ass. I would never do anybody like I have been done 2 times in the last 2 weeks. Same sort of deal. Rant over. [MBZ] I am so sick of a hole sellers
Went to Texas to pickup a car on Friday. Planned to return home Saturday. A deal was made on a 300SDL which I was going to get on the way back home. It was about a 2 hour detour to get to it. Seller could not meet Saturday so I stopped along the way overnight Saturday to meet him today. Otherwise I would have came home yesterday as previously mentioned. Let me back up by saying this has been going on for at least 2 weeks with the guy. He only communicates via text and would send him a message immediately after he finally responded to me then it would take days to get a response. Finally nailed down a time today. I texted him I was leaving and would be there at such and such time. [MBZ] OT: Lawnmower belts
Yesterday being the good son I swapped the snowblower for the lawnmower deck on my dad's little 2014 John Deere. Everything went pretty well but after 2 laps of the yard it ate the belt. Well poo, that was supposed to be a quick job. NAPA was open and had a belt, I also grabbed a gallon of Turbo Diesel truck for an oil change. Anyway I got everything installed, oil changed, made 2 more laps of the yard and it spat the belt again. This time it was so hot I couldn't touch it. I'd noticed the deck was wicked noisy but it was last year too. Now taking the guards off I think the deck had been dropped at some point, the left side pulley is badly bent and the belt guard had been rubbing which is probably what made the noise.Dad is going to get a new pulley and I'll install it next week. So today I decide to mow my own lawn with my 1965 Snapper rear engine rider. I made about 3 laps and wouldn't you know the dammed thing spat out the belt...Looking at my records that belt has been on there since 2010...I ordered another belt, the snapper uses a double v belt which is to say it has a V on both sides, the idler pulley isn't flat. $18, seems like a fair price for 11 years... -Curt ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Bumpers need rechrome badly.. and, since they are showing that level of rust, it gives me good cause to suspect the body is a plastic filler and duct tape respray job..
