Comcast was throttling BitTorrent traffic, at least in some areas, til
the FCC said that the packet inspection necessary to do that was an
invasion of privacy. Guess they're just limiting bandwidth usage
generically, now.

Alltel told me they are the only unlimited. My Sprint bill shows usage without
a 5GB cap. Perhaps because its considered a business account?

For cellular users, Sprint reserves the right to cancel you if you go over 5GB
per month, and Verizon charges a nice fat overage fee ($0.49 per MB last I
knew)
for going over 5GB. So far, I haven't received anything from Alltel (now merged
with Verizon) about overage charges on my account. I've been holding pretty
steady at 3.5GB per month for the several months. Probably most of it from
Youtube.

Doesn't sound like the Comcast limit of 250 GB / month would be a problem
for normal users.

The issue is the latest software sharing craze - bit torrent - and it's
sucking up a lot of internet bandwidth. And enough Comcast home users are
doing it that they had to find a way to slow things down.

Just got a 'warning' from Comcast that any residence using more than 250 GB
/month of bandwidth will be blocked as it degrades the service of everyone
else. To use that much would require @ 50 million 5 kb emails, 62k+ songs
downloaded or 125 2GB movies a month.Dang - I think I am safe, even with
Banned and Mbz. I think we might have some serious spamming going on in
Jax.

I got the same warning, and my Comcast account is Philly based (the
