Upgraded my ERL to 6.4 release from 6.4-beta (snapshot was downloaded and installed 9/27/18) and only ran into a minor snag regarding unbound. I recently enabled DNS-over-TLS and DNSSEC on my unbound machines and while the upgrade to 6.4 release went without a problem on my apu2, the lack of a hardware clock on the ERL rendered unbound non-responsive due to DNSSEC requiring accurate time to verify the root key signature. This was an oversight on my part, as I didn't enable a secondary DNS server for the ERL to talk to beyond itself. So, if you are using DNSSEC, remember to have a secondary DNS server, or perhaps put IP addresses instead of server names for NTP, in order to not be bit by this. This machine acts as primary DNS server for management network, and secondary DNS server for home network. dmesg to follow. Thanks to the OpenBSD team! Edgerouter Lite snapshot dmesg
Good evening, all, Recently upgraded my ERL to a snapshot (5/10/18) to test out the octcrypto module that visa recently enabled. Install went as smoothly as can be expected, upon reboot I saw the octcrypto module load,and everything seems to be working great. I haven't had a chance to test out the module yet, but I will let the list know when I get to it. Also, I managed to get the install kernel to recognize that this is a multiproc machine by using "bootoctlinux $loadaddr bsd coremask=0x3" as my boot command after the install kernel was loaded via tftpboot. I performed the steps as indicated n the links above and now have GENERIC.MP running on my ERL. I did see that KARL failed on the initial install and reboot, which I performed via serial console. I attempted the manual relinking and a second reboot via ssh, so I don't know if it failed on the second reboot. Check out the Ubiquiti Edgerouter Lite. Sub $100 (US), three NICs, and runs OpenBSD. I've used it as a router, firewall, dhcp server, you name it. Versatile device. Holger, That hardware acceleration is proprietary to Ubiquiti's EdgeOS, which is a fork of Vyatta, if I remember correctly, and not implemented in the OpenBSD port. OpenBSD 6.1 works very well on this hardware, I have used mine variously as a gateway router with PF, DHCP server, DNS server with unbound, and local name server with nsd. Currently it's acting as local name server while standing as backup router/nameserver/dhcp if needed. You will have to have valid time servers as the ERL doesn't have an internal clock. Have fun!
