severity 738393 normal affects 738488 camping usertag 738393 +will-break-if-tilt-2.0-is-uploaded thanks Hi, I'm pretty sure (looking at the timeline) that the build issues were due to Tilt suddenly changing it's API. This was fixed by a reupload of ruby-tilt 2.0.0+really1.4.1-1 but will break Camping again once Tilt 2.0.0 is really uploaded. For now, the FTBFS is no longer reproducible. (That is why I explicitly install rake 0.9.0, while Debian Wheezy has 0.9.2.2.) Also involved is the binary stub generation by our patched RubyGems implementation. It seems to put the stub(s) somewhere in /usr/local/bin and to carry no version requirement so that it takes the newest one. This is fine, but in case of it finding our Debian integration-gemspec it should use /usr/bin as bin path, not /usr/share/rubygems-integration/1.9.1/gems/gem-version/bin/program IMO. (Btw, it seems to disregard version specifications as well, ie. # rake _0.9.0_ --version rake, version 0.9.2.2 but that is another issue :)) Cheers, Paul -- Using the Power of Debian GNU/Linux | E-mail: pau...@debian.org Jabber/GTalk: p...@luon.net | GnuPG key ID: 0x50064181 ___ Pkg-ruby-extras-maintainers mailing list Pkg-ruby-extras-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-ruby-extras-maintainers

[DRE-maint] Bug#689038: camping: Does not support HTTP POST
Package: camping Version: 2.1.498-3 Severity: grave Tags: patch upstream Justification: renders package unusable Hi, Currently, it is not possible in Debian to use the Camping framework to write/create an application that supports HTTP POST next to GET nor to use/run Camping webapps that use POST. This only holds when using Camping server and not other deployment methods. However, it is obviously a must for it to work during development. The problem is caused by the fact that the Rack::File middleware, used for serving static files, is chained before the app and this middleware logically doesn't support POST and throws a HTTP 405 error which is subsequently not handled. The patch attached ensures that HTTP 405 is ignored and the POST request is propagated to the Camping app. Cheers, Paul -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (102, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-3-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=nl_NL.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=nl_NL.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages camping depends on: ii ruby 4.9 ii ruby-rack 1.4.1-2 ii ruby1.8 [ruby-interpreter]1.8.7.358-4 ii ruby1.9.1 [ruby-interpreter] 1.9.3.194-1 Versions of packages camping recommends: ii ruby-activerecord-2.3 2.3.14-2 ii ruby-mab 0.0.1+git20120515.30414e4-2 ii ruby-sqlite3 1.3.6-2 ii ruby-tilt 1.3.3-2 Versions of packages camping suggests: ii thin 1.3.1-3 -- no debconf information From fe791e787f5665efdc3f17b0f6122260b3a6d770 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Magnus Holm judo...@gmail.com Date: Fri, 10 Feb 2012 17:31:12 +0100 Subject: [PATCH] Server: Also catch 405 from Rack::File --- lib/camping/server.rb |2 +- 1 file changed, 1 insertion(+), 1 deletion(-) diff --git a/lib/camping/server.rb b/lib/camping/server.rb index 47bffa7..af2bfc8 100644 --- a/lib/camping/server.rb +++ b/lib/camping/server.rb @@ -149,7 +149,7 @@ module Camping end def app - Rack::Cascade.new([Rack::File.new(public_dir), self], [404, 403]) + Rack::Cascade.new([Rack::File.new(public_dir), self], [405, 404, 403]) end def current_app -- 1.7.10.4 ___ Pkg-ruby-extras-maintainers mailing list Pkg-ruby-extras-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-ruby-extras-maintainers

[DRE-maint] Bug#675083: bsfilter: should follow Debian Ruby policy draft (more)
Package: bsfilter Version: 1:1.0.17-2 Severity: important Hi! This package is part of the Debian/Ruby Extras team, but it is different in several different ways. In some ways it violates the Debian Ruby policy draft or team package practices; see also [1]. This bug report should be considered as a package review. As I am not familiar with the Japanese character sets, nor the package itself, I would like to leave the changes to you. (But do note that the freeze is near!) My remarks: * The maintainer of the package should be the team, the rest of us should be added as uploaders once we touch the package. * The Vcs-* fields are missing, please add them. * The standards version can be bumped. * If the depend is set on ruby1.8, also set XS-Ruby-Versions and XB-Ruby-Versions and ensure that the bsfilter script uses #!/usr/bin/ruby1.8. * The suggest on libchasen-ruby1.8 can never be fulfilled, I cannot find this package anywhere? * The names of the libraries in the depends, libkakasi-ruby1.8, libdb-ruby1.8, and libqdbm-ruby1.8 should be changed to ruby-kakasi, ruby-bdb, and ruby-qdbm respectively. * There seems to be a source problem for bsfilter concerning ruby-kakasi and mipsel, please refer to [2] for details. * Please convert the copyright file to the Debian copyright format version 1.0 * Please run the test suite during the build process. * It seems that debian/docs is emtpy, maybe it should contain htdocs? * The pristine-tar branch seems to be missing. [DRE-maint] Bug#673166: gem2deb: installs ruby version specific .rb files in the vendor dir
Package: gem2deb Version: 0.2.13 Severity: normal Hi! When XS-Ruby-Versions is set to ruby1.8, gem2deb/dh_ruby still installs .rb files to /usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby. (See for example ruby-pcap 0.7.0-1.) As a result, when ruby1.9.1 is used to load the library, it can actually find it. Only when it also ships a .so file, it is out of the load path of ruby1.9.1 (namely /usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/1.8/arch). gem2deb/dh_ruby should install .rb files to /usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/1.8/ if XB-Ruby-Versions is set to 1.8. The symmetric case holds for ruby1.9.1. [DRE-maint] Bug#655444: Bug#655444: migrate libmmap-ruby to gem2deb based packaging
Hey all, libmmap-ruby is a package that seemed to have the highest urgency for the gem2deb transition, as it has a very high popcon score. However, the transition gave a lot of troubles: upstream has been gone for over 6 years, tests fail, it doesn't work for Ruby 1.9.1. Praveen has tried to fix it but got stuck, the same holds for me. On Thu, Jan 12, 2012 at 06:51:12PM +0530, Praveen A wrote: 2012/1/11 Paul van Tilburg pau...@debian.org: I tried a bit, but I don't think I will be able to finish it :( I have asked help from upstream http://rubyforge.org/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=29498group_id=8350atid=32304 Since there have not been any changes since 2005, and no replies on your bug reports, I assume upstream is very much dead. I also wonder why mmap has such a high popcon, as it has no reverse depends at all. We just figured out that the high popcon is due to the high popcon of libruby-extras (the have the same installation statistics and graph), which used to depend on it in Squeeze. I expect that the package is actually not used at all, so I would like to drop the package completely. If some application comes up that needs some mmap library (there are others nowadays), we'll have a look at these. Any objections? Paul P.S. [DRE-maint] Git repo structure anomalies
Hello all! I have noticed that some repositories, for example ruby-rchardet, have a weird/non-standard layout. Of course, while there could very well be a good reason for this, I suggest to please add a debian/gbp.conf file in weird cases. Besides the fact that the weird layout confuses git-buildpackage, it also confuses me. The presence of a gbp.conf explains the situation to both parties. :) I hope that these repositories can be fixed soon, so that the short time available to each one of us to work on the packages is not consumed by finding out per repository why everything is structured as it is. [DRE-maint] Tags / repository state
Hello all, Our team is getting big, the number of packages is increasing but a lot of us are by far not as active anymore as we once were. ;) That is a pity, sure, but besides the point I really want to make: Due to the above reasons it is important that the repository is clean, up-to-date and we have useful overviews such as Debian QA developer page, dpts and PET. However, I want to ask you (again) to really take care and TAG YOUR UPLOADS. Also make sure that if there are NMUs or maintenance of our packages outside our repository for some reason that the CHANGES ARE COMMITTED to our repository. Pardon me caps, but I feel like I'm living in a student home/dowm where I have to clean up after everyone. A second thing; we've discussed about this before: I have stopped creating and commiting dummy new changelogs after tagging. I'm suggesting we all stop doing this. (Some people were doing this for a long time already and it's confusing two have two standards.) So, after updating a package, running lintian, debi, local tests, debsign and dput run: $ svn-buildpackage --svn-only-tag --svn-noautodch Later, when starting work on a new (upstream/debian) revision, do: $ dch -D UNRELEASED -i/-v version and use dch -r and debcommit when you want to upload to unstable. This prevents some of us that work on all packages to upload something that was not ready (hence UNRELEASED). We should be able to assume that packages marked unstable, one version lower than what's in the archive is ready for upload. Kind regards, Paul P.S. I'll update the website too about this soon. If someone could do this sooner than me, great! -- PhD Student @ Eindhoven | email: pau...@debian.org University of Technology, The Netherlands | JID: p...@luon.net Using the Power of Debian GNU/Linux | GnuPG key ID: 0x50064181 ___ Pkg-ruby-extras-maintainers mailing list Pkg-ruby-extras-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/pkg-ruby-extras-maintainers

However, 1.5.1 is in Lenny. I worked for months on the new upstream. I'd really like to have 1.6.3 in Lenny. If we cannot get the exeception, then we have a 1.5.1+bugfix in the branches. The 1.6.3 upstream is in Sid now. A release block exception should be requested. Ok, we decided to go with 1.5.1-1+lenny1 which contains a specific fix for this RC bug and no more. It's in testing-proposed-updates. | Ready for upload (1) | libgd-rubyI #472438 svn-released:pending All fixed and ready. Except it segfaults on amd64! Two questions. 1. RubyGems 1.2.0 is not in Lenny, I think it should be? Or not? If so, we need an exception. 2. The libgems-ruby package doesn't seem to contain a 'rubygems' dummy package to depend on 'rubygems1.8'. Is this not a RC bug? More bugreports were filed, mostly related to (2). This needs to be addressed. I am sure it is a RC bug now (grave - #495320). These bugs do not occur in the testing version of libgems-ruby (Lenny also does not contain the reworked rubygems packages, just 1.1.1-1. There seems to be an agreement to keep it as it is, because new upstream (1.2.0, containing the reworked pkg structure) is too big a difference in upstream any. The rev. depends are currently fixed in Sid, but not broken in Lenny either before it was before the rework. | liblocale-ruby I? #470798 This bug should be severity important. Antonio and I agree that the easiest solution would be to have it removed from Lenny and really solve it well for Lenny +1. Note that liblocale-ruby{,1.8} have no reverse depends. The release team should be asked to remove it for Lenny. Still needs to happen, yes. | libxtemplate-ruby1.8 I #472430 Gotta work on this and straighten it out. Not much work though. Handled by Gunnar and solved in Sid. A release block exception should be requested. Indeed. | ruby-gnome2 I #493063 A recent important bug, haven't investigated it. May be inreproducible. More grave/important bugs were filed! One of them is another objects creation during garbage collection phase problem. Sjoerd suggested that he has a few patches for this. These should be applied and tested. Afterwards a release exception block should be requested. The RC bug has been fixed in 0.17.0~rc1-4, which is in Sid. What about #493063?
