The OS is
Code:

Raspbian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie)

.

Also starting a new track gives the same strange noise.

The strange thing is I can’t think of anything I have actively changed.
I have had the problem that the spotty app failed with the “failure to
get access token” error for some time (but so instead I have been
playing over AirPlay). It seems this was because no helper app could be
found. But now I wanted to fix that. That’s when I installed the legacy
helper and this new strange problem turned up.

Did something change in the last few weeks/months that could cause this?

One thing that’s strange to me is that spotty suggest using the armv8
helper app, but AFAIK my Raspberry Pi model armv6. Is it possible
LMS/Spotty is mistaking the architecture of the server and this is
causing problems?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.6 - sorting option for Albums/Artists/Songs, replay gain fix

2021-07-12 Thread Guut_Boy

Continuing from the Spotty 4.5 thread:

So now I am on 4.6. And the problem persists, I tried an other player to
(squeezebox touch) and the sound is the same. The sound is just
crackling noises, and the music is not recognizable at all.

I have tried removing the helper applications from the plugins menu and
tried adding both the legacy one, and the ARMv8/aarch64 one. But only
the legacy one (the one I listed in the thread) seems to work (when that
is not there the Spotty settings page tells me there is a problem
finding the helper app). I tried running the different helper apps from
command line and all but the legacy fail with errors either “illegal
instruction” or “Exec format error” (which I believe hints the binary is
for the wrong architecture?), this includes the one called spotty-custom
you mentioned.

I have also enabled flac and pcm for Spotty in the File Types settings.

I have also re-entered my account credentials just to be sure.

When using the legacy helper, there is no messages in the logs about
spotty. In fact, the app seems to act fully like it should except for
the sound being wrong. I can search, get cover art and everything.

I am not really sure what to try next. Any ideas?

The Pi model is B Plus rev 1.2 (512MB RAM). The Spotty helper

I am having a weird problem with Spotty. It’s just playing crackling
noises.

It was failing with an error saying something like “failed to get access
token”, with a recommendation to try a spotty helper application. The
suggested helper application did not seem to fix the problem, so I tried
the legacy one (for ARM, this is running on an aging raspberry pi).
After a reboot I am not getting errors anymore, but when playing a track
I am getting these strange noises instead of music. Other sources than
Spotty seems to work fine though.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.1.0

2017-07-21 Thread Guut_Boy

I just lost the old spotify app :(.

I finally have spotty set up and it seems to work fine. I had some
trouble installing everything on my Raspberry Pi though, and thought I
would share my "solutions".

First with how to install the 7.9.1 nightly build. I ended up following
the "Installing LMS (squeezebox) server" of this guide:
http://www.gerrelt.nl/RaspberryPi/wordpress/tutorial-stand-alone-squeezebox-server-and-player-for-bbq/
substituting 7.9.0 with 7.9.1.

Second I had trouble figuring out how to get IO::Socket::SSL installed.
I ended up following the steps here
https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=49735=386673

I am not sure if those are exactly right, but things seem to be working
now. I was thinking, maybe instructions on how to do these things (in
particular the SSL stuff caused me trouble) should be added to the top
post of this thread? I am sure the thread has better directions than
those in this post, but the thread is already 51 pages, and too much
work to go through.

Manually going to the server settings and changing username and password

 squeezebox server.

Before shairport / shairtunes isa installed all works well. After when
opening Ipeng no players can be see, won't synchronise.

I have also posted this on Vortexbox forum, though not sure if this is
more an issue between Ipeng and Shairport.

This sounds similar to the troubles I was having a few weeks/months ago,
just after I upgraded my vortexbox and installed Shairport. All of a
sudden my whole set up started acting very strange, players were not
detected and so on.

Allthough I never figured out what was going on I did noticed that
several instances of the squeezeboxserver was running on my machine, and
I suspected that was the problem (I really don't know, it is just a
guess). Maybe the shairport plugin fails in some way that makes the
squeezeboxserver process fork itself? (again total speculation on my
part).

Anyway I completely fixed the problem by reinstalling the server without
reinstalling the shairport plugin. See this thread for how to do that:

I really don't know. However, it seems to me that Spotify is phasing out
the Starred Tracks feature in favour of the Your Music/Saved Music
functionality. So my guess is that that is the problem rather than
Triodes plugin. Personally I would love to see support for the Your
Music functionality in the plugin. It is essentially the same as
Starred Tracks only the music in Your Music is presented more like a
library/collection/(database) than just a playlist, and is thus much
easier to browse.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2014-05-13 Thread Guut_Boy

I am having a lot of problems with iPeng 7 crashing on my iPhone 5. More
or less randomly the app will simply close it self and I will need to
relaunch it. Sometimes it only crashes to the first screen of iPeng,
so no relaunch is required but it jumps out of whatever menu I am at.
This particularly seems to happen when using Triodes Spotify plugin
(although that might just be because that is what I am mostly using). It
is very annoying when browsing music deep in some menu to be snapped all
the way back to the beginning.

I sent a whole bunch of crash reports from the app, but I just wanted to
know if there is anything I can do myself to make this stop/less
frequent?

 Ooohhh. Thanks for contacting me!!!

I knew from crash reports that iPeng 7 was having these issues for some
people, but literally nobody was ever contacting me beyond sending crash
reports and none of my beta testers seem to have the issue (that's not
entirely true, one recent tester has it but for various reasons wasn't
able to test a fix, yet).
This made it very hard to fix since it wasn't reproducible.

It's a messy situation around memory management. Apple introduced a new
memory management model, actually already several years ago (with iOS
5). Since iPeng consists of several 100.000 lines of code I was never
courageous enough to convert to it even though there is an automatic
 converter.
For iPeng 7 I finally did the switch and it brought with it this
 problem.

I do actually think I have a fix. A recent change made it somewhat more
reproducible and I actually found a petty obscure issue that created the
 effect, indeed.

Would you be willing to test the fix? If yes, could you send me a
diagnostics mail from within iPeng? Just tap the mail link under Help.

When we know whether the fix works I'm going to tell you a bit more
about it since I'm pretty convinced that it's also related to the rest
of your setup and that will probably cause other issues for you, too,
but I want to know whether my fix works first :)

One thing... I didn't understand this part of your description:

Do you mean it leaves the currently selected menu without crashing?
That's also not a crash... but probably related to these other issues
with your setup that I mentioned :) We'll go after that later...
That said, iPeng 7 still drops the menu tree when you are in a menu
that's under More, not under one of the other tabs whenever you leave
and re-enter the App, moving Spotify to one of the shortcut tabs should
help here, also makes definite sense if you are using it so much,
 doesn't it?

I mean that while in some menu under Spotify the app will snap back to
More, and I have to go back manually. Actually I did not know that I
could alter the tabs, I will try it from now on.

And yes I would very much like to test your fix :). I am not sure if I
can consistently reproduce the crash though. However it happens pretty
often, so it should be clear if the fix is working :).

Will it also work on iPad? I think there is a similar issue there, but I
am not sure (I mainly use iPeng on the phone).

EDIT: For the email to be useful do I need to be connected to my server?
If so I will have to wait until later.

to have a kind of collection of music in Spotify. Right now I just
