Re: [ql-users] QL Forum
Hi, I am moderately optimistic about GTK, next version of it is rumored to be able to run on simple framebuffer devices and that would be very simple to do in QDOS. Richard I'm new in the users-group, Richard (or who else), what is GTK? Und Richard, warum kommst du nie mehr nach Eindhoven? Wolfgang Uhlig
Re: [ql-users] EasyPtr
Hi Per and all the others, If the QL is to survive we need a steady supply of new programs. To realise that, we need good tools! EasyPTR is such a tool. We cannot afford to let it become obsolete! I am absolutely of the same opinion! Finally, when PE has been upgraded to handle the new colour modes, EasyPTR will require and extensive revamp to cope with them too. This could be a major undertaking. As far as I know, Marcel will try to get in contact with Albin in order to get him to correct and improve some things. But even so, if there is a possibility to do things, I am willing to contribute in any way I can. Concerning the german comments, if there are problems of understanding I could help. No self-respecting Tinkerer should be without EasyPTR! Correct! Look at what can be done already, even with colours, by downloading the Qcolour-suite from Thierry's, Jochen's or Dilwyn's website. [ql-users] QXL-Cards
Hi everybody, I have three QXL-cards to give away, is anybody interested? Wolfgang Uhlig
Re: [ql-users] QL Forum
Hi, everybody, I was a little bit startled by the reaction of Nasta, who wants to sell his QXL for $100,-! Sorry for being so generous ;-) , but the three QXLs I offer have been working for about 3- 4 years in a bicycle shop here in Holland which I had written an administration program for. They (the shop owners) sold their shop recently and the new owners of course)have a PC-network. But they were at least so friendly as to ask me, whether I wanted to have the QXLs. I could not resist :-) So, there are 5 people who like to have one. My preference is for Dave Dexter, Dokos Phoebus and Al Feng, don't ask me why. But You will have to pay the costs for sending it to you. I don't know yet how much it will be, so be patient for one more day. Tomorrow I'll go to the post office with a well packed QXL and ask how much it will cost to England or USA. As soon as I know, I will post an e-mail to the QLusers group and tell you. If you still want it, we will have to find out, how to manage the money-stuff. Until then, Wolfgang
[ql-users] QXLs
Hi Dave, Al and Phoebus, receiving all your mails about how to deal with the money didn't make it better at all ;-)) So I do it my way: In an hour or so I'll bring the QXLs to the post office and send them to the three of you. The shipping costs are Euro 9,50 (sorry for my stupid trust in my mailer's ability to send a Eurosign!) which is about 8 and a half dollars. I'm convinced you'll find a way to give me the money. My home address is: Wolfgang Uhlig De Karn 28 6581 WJ Malden Netherlands If you above want to reward me in any way please buy my database-handler SuQcess at the next show in America at Roy's or Jochen's. (If you don't have it already). Then you will not only reward me, but also them. In the end, they are the ones to hold the QL-world together, aren't they. All the best, Wolfgang PS: I packed the QXLs good enough I think, so I hope they will arrive in good shape.
Re: [ql-users] QXLs
Hi Dave, Thank you, Wolfgang. You're welcome . I will probably end up using the guest room TV and slowly going blind, like in the good old days. ouuh, I've never seen anybody becoming blind twice ;-)) Wolfgang
Re: [ql-users] Language Switching, TRA etc..
Am 19.04.2002 17:34:44, schrieb Phoebus Dokos [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Hi all, since I don't have the SMSQ/E manual, I would like someone (non British/American) to tell me how keyboard layout switching is performed (if it can be performed) on SMSQ/E. For example if you are typing in English and want to switch say in German or Norwegian what do you do? Is there any key combination like in Windows for example (ALT-SHIFT or CTRL-ALT-F1/F2) that switches to and from the layout enabling at the same time the dead keys for accents etc or you just have to use key combinations to do that? (Eg. CTRL-3) I know that the TRA command switches to your appropriate layout but is it possible to switch to a dual layout? Eg. normal english (QWERTY) and french AZERTY. I realize that for many of you that is not a problem as the main alphabet is latin so just the introduction of dead keys would be enough but for me (Greek) it's mandatory (too many keys to remember in CTRL sequences). Thanks, Phoebus P.S. I have an article by TT here on IQLR containing a listing for language tables, messages etc. Does anyone have it typed in? (I know I am lazy ;-) As far as I know there are only three keyboard layouts which you can choose by typing kbd_table countrycode for example: kbd_table 49 is German, 44 English and 33 French Wolfgang

Thus I don't suspect there's any deep hack involved. I've never done this myself, though, maybe others can elaborate on this (Wolfgang?). You don't mean me, do you?! I always put my jobs to sleep by doing so few with them that they get bored and go to sleep voluntarily. And if they don't want to, I give them the BUTTON_SLEEP Hotkey I definded in my bootprogram. Having QPAC2 what could be more standard than that??? Wolfgang Uhlig
[ql-users] Re: positioning windows
Hi James, It has been suggested that it is because the window position is relative to the cursor, even when I do an absolute address. This sounds familiar and I think that I had this problem before and figured it out. However, I seem to be stuck again. I've got no clue of C68 or assembly programming but I know that what you describe, is NOT the normal case. I have been using EasyPtr (Albin Hessler) for years now and every wanted positioning works very well, before, after resizing, after a wake etc. May be you can have a look at the source code of Albin to overcome your problem?! Much luck, Wolfgang
[ql-users] disagreement

You might consider beeing more careful, if the substance of your disagreement with Peter ever goes public it might be not very favourable for you. A threat remains a threat, even if packed in make-believe friendly words, Richard. What is it that you are crying for all these last weeks? I have learnt throughout the last years that P. and C. Graf have an unappeasable envy of Marcel Kilgus and attack and threaten everyone who - in their paranoid minds - sympathizes with him. Even if it was only from business aspects, the means they use, are far beyond from how healthy people discuss or even argue with each other. But you, what is your interest? Why are you so mistrusting, who in the QL-community has really cheated you so much that this is necessary? I am only a normal BASIC-programmer and still a convinced QL-fan. As far as I can understand the license, it could bring advantages and progress to all of us. Why is it that you only and purely see what could be wrong? Who are all those commercial developpers you always mention? Thus people who really can cope with the code of SMSQ? I only know very very few and they cannot even earn enough money with it to pay the visits of QL-shows! So, earnestly, what is this all about??? Wolfgang Uhlig
