[RBW] FS: 56 cm Sam Hillborne frameset w/ Paul brakes
Here's a link to some pics I took today. The tubus rack is not part of the deal I just didn't have an Allen key with me that would fit so I couldn't take them off. I will include a seatpost and a Sam Hillborne poster. I gave the bike a good cleaning but there is some tar that got on the underside of the downtube that will come off with a soft bristled brush, dish soap and some effort. https://photos.app.goo.gl/5xYSFGWvoH0mVIKg1 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Re: [RBW] "Winter" clothing help
I'd like to put it out there that anyone here who thinks they want to go the Patagonia route I will send you a 40% friends and family discount. I've worked there for 8 years and have been a year round bike commuter just as long, and I think the nano air works in the widest range of temperature and provides just enough wind protection without creating a vapor barrier. On really cold days I wear an R1 fleece underneath. A Houdini will breaker is invaluable when you need it and I have one the lives in my bar bag. [RBW] PSA: 56cm 650b Hunq in Puget Sound Area
Darin, Why'd you have to post this!? I'm now the new owner! The hunq was always my dream bike but I was in between sizes so I never popped on one. I thought it would be a looong time before a 56 would come up and the original owner made me a fair deal for the frameset. So now I have this, a QB and 94 XO-3. My wife has the Rosco mtn mixte. And together we have a Gary Fisher Gemini tandem. What's on the chopping block is a 56 cm double tt Sam, 53 cm last gen salsa caseroll and 59 cm 93 XO-2. Any takers? [RBW] FS: 56 cm Sam Hillborne frameset w/ Paul brakes
I bought a Hunqapillar and need to be proactive about freeing up space so for sale is my most ridden bike, a 56 cm double tt Samuel Hillborne frameset WITH Paul Components center pull brakes. I bought this new from Riv in August of 2013. It was a web special with the non cream headtube which I preferred as I thought it was more understated and less delicate looking. The bike is well loved but cared for. I always locked it up on the drive side so the most wear are on the decals there. I last framesaved it in the spring and the tubes were just free. I would like $900 or $1100 with velocity atlas 36/36 wheelset with upgraded atb rear hub. Front wheel is from 2013, rear was a warranty replacement from 2015. The bike will be packed in the original box and packing it came in from Riv. Bike flights shipping is on the buyer. [RBW] Sim Works Getaround Bar clamp diameter?
I'm putting some Sim Works Getaround bars on my QB and ran into an interesting issue. The bars are listed as 25.4 clamp diameter and I'm using a 26.0 Tallux I had shimmed to run Albatross bars. No way the shims will fit with the getaround bars and the clamping seems good w/out them. On the SW site it reads: "Skid proof and clear coating are applied as a final treatment on this item and the actual size is wider than the diameter on the each size description. Please be aware of the installation of the stem, levers, and lock-type grips which have very severe inner diameter." Is there .6 mm of clear coat? Also they are not "skid" (scratch proof?). The levers scratched the clear coat when installing the grips. Re: [RBW] Re: Your favorite Rivendell?
I like this, it's in the spirit of what's in your garage. I've had a Sam H. (my first Riv but always wished it had canti posts) & a 60 cm orange QB (misrepresented as a 58 cm from the seller). I now have a 56 650b Hunq, 58 cm green QB & a '94 XO-3. My wife has a Rosco Bubbaloosa. I like them all. Each is built different enough but I have been riding the XO-3 this week. It's built up a la Crust Bikes with a dirt drop stem, 46 cm noodles & schwalbe Kojaks. It's real "springy" and different from my other bikes. I recently setup the QB with dirt drops, rode it in my parking garage to tune it, and will be switching back to the albatross cockpit I had on it. I think I'm dialed in for a long time since I have a 26", 650b & 700c bikes. Lots of QB love on this thread and I support that, but every time I start riding a different bike it's refreshing and so I ride it for awhile and repeat the process. [RBW] Rear V Brake Setup Help
All, It's 50 in Chicago in January which means it'll be 40 in June but in any case the weather made the wife want to ride her new Rosco Mixte but I hadnt't setup brakes or shifting yet which leads me to this: I have the sunrace levers and deore v brakes Riv sells. I bought them new for this build. I setup the front no problem but on the rear set up, the lever has some play before the brake engage and after the brakes do engage the first time after setup then there's lots of slack in the brake cable almost as if the housing wants to pop out of the barrel adjuster at the lever. I've setup lots of v and can't I brakes bit I'm stumped. Any and all feedback is appreciated. Re: [RBW] Finally finished Rosco Bubbaloosa
That seatube stop is to run cantis which I found out from Roman. He said he tried it with lack luster results. If you run v brakes go straight from the aft top tube stop to the Noodle on the rear brake. It's real comfy but it's got a shortish "top tube". But I only took a couple of laps around my parking garage. It's supposed to be my wife's bike though so she's the one that's got to like it. She has no idea what she's got. I am running esi grips on all but one of my bikes and think they are great. If your interested I have an extra set of orange chunky grips. I also have brake levers if you need some. [RBW] WTT my Byway for your Naches Pass
I want to try compass tires and was thinking Naches Pass tires on my XO. However, I own more unused tires than I do shoes. [RBW] Re: WTB: Nitto Hi Riser stem
So I bought the stem from Riv right before the end of the year but mounted it today. I'm still using the sim works get around bars and they are now way up and back. [RBW] anybody tried WTB Riddlers?
I do and I think they're great. I have the 27.5 x 2.4 lightweight version on my Hunqapillar and they are an excellent all-rounder tire considering I've only ridden them in the city. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Re: Bummer that Roman is leaving (Blagh)
His Roscoe Bubbe contribution is the best of an already excellent project and design study. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. I have the deore xt front derailer you are looking. It originally came from RBW. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] WTB: Shimano DXR V Brakes
Like it says. I would buy from Riv but they are sold out and their price is fair too. So, if you have some you bought from Riv that are now in your parts bin I would buy them. If there is anything you need or would want in trade I have lots of stuff that needs to go. Thanks in advance. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Which Rivendell frame would you resurrect?
The best riding bike I own is a 650b Hunq. My second best is a 1994 Bridgestone XO-3. I guess I'd like some iteration of the early 26" A/R but I feel like the crust romanceur fits that niche. I have seriously thought of parlaying my Quickbeam and XO into a crust bike but I like rim brakes. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
