Its not the point, rats running corporate mazes or any maze soon foget the walls form their behavior, but from a usablilty perspective freenet right now hase enough ways in configurable options to really screw yourself up and perhaps the nodes around you. The most common really dumb thing I've seen and MS walks then right into it, is people putting everything they ever see or touch on their desktop. Condsider how bad the computer literate user really is offering a another realy great way to screw themselves isnt a good idea. The level freenet requires now is, if you can rebuild a carburator without a manual you can run freenet, the ideal is more like press play than crash courses in encrption technology and techniques. Fine if its to remain a protocol for motivated unix geeks, chinese dissidents terrorists theives and pornographers with technical experinece thats laudible alone, but with the recent p/r it was found people couldnt determine their own ip. So the objection was the general direction, let the experts hammer out the hows and why. However if ure having problems with ure teens i'll be glad to take to take 60 to 100 grand off ya. My favorite trick to gain confidence is tell'em they're fine they're parents are fucked and here's the papers to involunatily commit them to the nearest county facility. Never failed yet to make them feel comfotable and empowered. The problem that arises with digitally signed binaries is that the signature checking system _must not_ be distributed with the binaries to be checked and the signatures or signator keys _must_ be available out of band. Signatures require a) somebody checks THE WHOLE SOURCE for trojans. This will take weeks and therefore will never happen. b) that we can keep the private key secure. This is unlikely. If the binaries are signed and come with a detached signature, any user can double-click the signature file and receive a PGP/GPG message asking if they wish to check the signature. The installer can easily come with the instructions to check the signatures, as well as a short commentary on why this important for the security of their file store and the project as a whole. The binaries, however, must be assumed to be untrusted and untrustable for the sake of such a discussion and as such, only the method I described keeps the user from receiving a message such as 'signature checks out' when in fact the image they received was either tainted or damaged. Feel free to reply with a full discussion / reasoning behind your wanting to do things any differently for this (preferably technical) and I'll listen. There is no reason _not_ to distribute detached signatures for each of the installer and/or JAR images. Signed JAR files are also possible and checkable with IE or Mozilla for that matter. Please do some research ... Signed JAR files go through verisign. That is not good. -- Michael T. Babcock CTO, FibreSpeed Ltd. -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Are you sure you can accept incoming connections? Are you day dreaming? Ya u are, so am i. A couple of things that might help people esp new l'users, is SSK keypair generation on web interface, i dunno something like a click box to expand the insertion options for more advanced meaning other than KSK insertion, like regression whatever that means, expiry , key pair generation and help! Reason being as it is this is done now by 3rd party tools and some of this should be provided by the project itself with a more enhanced gateway page or pages as this is what the public first sees. Its easy for old hands to forget this is still the model T era of computers and everyone has to be a mechanic or have 'that friend' who is one, and everyone here is one of those friends. Truth is the majority of folk with machines cant handle anything much more complex than a game pad, is that. Click, install, run, it works and if it doesnt its out the door. I installed it on clean machine, clean of freenet anyway and it came up pretty much right freenet.ini wise. Anyway thats the sledgehammer version other wise # The port to listen for local FCP (Freenet Client Protocol) connections on. clientPort= whoops thats ure big problem, thats normally 8481, you have it set the same as your fproxy port set it to 8481 if you can # The number of outstanding message replies the node will # wait for before it starts to abandon them. messageStoreSize=5 I know thats the default, but i dropped it in mine to 500 and i still think thats more than plenty, but it not a showstopper # Mainport settings mainport.class=freenet.interfaces.servlet.MultipleHttpServletContainer mainport.port= nothin to change here just pointin out you had them set the same mainport.params.servlet.2.params.class=freenet.node.http.NodeInfoServlet mainport.params.servlet.2.params.port=8890 then there was a whole pack of repetiion fproxy.params.FECDecoder_0_name=OnionDecoder_0 fproxy.params.FECDecoder_0_class=OnionFECDecoder fproxy.params.FECEncoder_0_name=default_encoder fproxy.params.FECEncoder_0_class=OnionFECEncoder fproxy.params.FECEncoder_1_name=OnionEncoder_0 fproxy.params.FECEncoder_1_class=OnionFECEncoder those are history and should be more like FECInstanceCacheSize=1 FEC.Encoders.0.class=OnionFECEncoder FEC.Decoders.0.class=OnionFECDecoder -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: Hush 2.2 (Java) Note: This signature can be verified at https://www.hushtools.com/verify wlcEARECABcFAj22F+8QHGthYm9vbUBodXNoLmNvbQAKCRB5zuO1YwPwCU/+AJ0ZOTAz YsxUonZQM0QjBR/G5i94uQCeJKExjoXfOZjjAO6aYZnagjRkAVc= =qZaa -END PGP SIGNATURE- Get your free encrypted email at https://www.hushmail.com ___ support mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://hawk.freenetproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support

I'd prefer to as i find its fastest, but i only get the div/0 through the gateway page insert. I assume freenet.client.cli.main isnt using fec. I ha d some minor problems with it,,but that was several snapshots back. Daily i try the web interface, fcptools, fish if he fixes it again, i note it fish hung at the same point or there abouts on the manifest insert. Th is has been happening since the builds with the native ds, which i like the fact it stays around for more than a few minutes. I've been trying to stay up to date with the latest config changes, this is whats in it today if that helps. I really appreciate your taking the time with me with this. Is it working now? Current build is 519 Yes I'm on 519 now and it still happens. I see it's also happening to someone else running windows. It's been present since the native datastore went it. I took your suggestion to try other JVM's, looks like KAFFE is linux only so i'm currently using IBM's 1.3.1 which seems a little faster but i still get the divide by zero error on manifest redirect insertion thru the web interface. There seem to be other probs with 519, actually since the build since the 16th about 1600 build that it wont read my old seednodes and im not getting off my node with the old ones and have few connections whereas before i was nearly flooded with connections,,, but so it goes.. -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: Hush 2.2 (Java) Note: This signature can be verified at https://www.hushtools.com/verify wlcEARECABcFAj2wJ20QHGthYm9vbUBodXNoLmNvbQAKCRB5zuO1YwPwCXHaAJ9TVJGR ZmA9LvX9pb+gnbpNzXlKFgCeLoxBz74TS9ueRwEei/l+ewVH0Tk= =NZ+l -END PGP SIGNATURE- Get your free encrypted email at https://www.hushmail.com ___ support mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://hawk.freenetproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support

Any help ? Thanks I think the best way to get a responce here is to reply to someone else and say something that might be wrong. With nodestatus and it's devine union with fproxy into its glorious child mainport i dont think it matters and you dont have to start nodestatus as a service. At least that is if you have,, mainport.params.servlet.2.params.port=8890 or whatever port you're using mainport.params.servlet.2.params.class=freenet.node.http.NodeInfoServlet in there. It works perfectly with little files but not whith big one. 1- Did you ever met this problem ? 2- do u know how to fix it ? 3- is there other way to post freeweb sites than with the freeweb interface ? C U, blured. PS : I already post a bug submission on freeweb page on sourceforge, but the evolution of the program seems to be freezed till 2001. That wont do you any good freeweb hasn't been updated in a very long time. No it doesn't handle large files or a large number of file. What you can do, which is what I've been atempting not sucessfully for months but the new datastore should help once all the other problems are fixed, is insert your large file seperately from your site and just reference them with URI on the site. ie instead of inserting big file with the site [EMAIL PROTECTED] a href=[EMAIL PROTECTED]blahblah do this instead a href=[EMAIL PROTECTED]blahblah the slash tell it that its an external link and then insert the file seperately some other way, and other ways seem mostly broken, with the new changes. Use SSK's of course and you know htl=0 inserts into your local node. When i try through the web interface I get an arithmetic error returning when it tries to insert the split file manifest for larger files. Data and check blocks inserted. inserting SplitFile metadata... Fishtools is broken for the i guess for the same reason as that's when it seems to hang so it looks to me like something to do with FEC and block over 256 There's Frost but then you have a reference to a CHK and you're locked into Frost in some ways. Java command line says it works, but then can't get it back. Then there's FCPTools which still seem to work, I'l be finding out today if i can insert several gig still with them today. Thats' where I'm at. Good luck. -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: Hush 2.2 (Java) Note: This signature can be verified at https://www.hushtools.com/verify wlcEARECABcFAj2gcp0QHGthYm9vbUBodXNoLmNvbQAKCRB5zuO1YwPwCcgAAJ4mi8VX nji4LLQijcbas0MTRsBnmwCePQWw/R6gQYweiPQd4NlJEcPBshA= =VzTe -END PGP SIGNATURE- Get your free encrypted email at https://www.hushmail.com ___ support mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://hawk.freenetproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support
