Perhaps my favourite bug takes on him:

With more than one account being checked at start-up, if you Esc the
prompt to enter your connection password for the first account, you
won't see the second (or third) password prompt (for the other
accounts. It then seems like TB! is frozen; just hit Esc for every
account that tries to connect.

The other possibility is a fight for focus between TB and a BlackIce

seems OK, but if I miss it, then TB never seems to get focus. Does
anyone know how to get rid of this BlackIce message permanently - I
got the message the first time, and I don't want admin rights on my
day to day login on my PCs.

Why not give yourself admin rights temporarily, fix the problem and
then revert back to the permission level you want?

Maybe you could even configure BlackIce to let non-admins change the
settings? I have never used BlackIce so I don't know if thats
possible.

In Win98: My Computer / Software / choose BlackIce / Add/Remove

I don't know how to do it in XP.

Focus on starting TB

2002-05-23 Thread Julian Beach (Lists)

Hello tbudl,

I have been having occasional problems with TB when I first start it.
The main program window will not take focus, so although the Window is
there, I cannot do anything with it. Strangely, I can right click and
bring up the context menu, but again can get no further. The Message
Ticker works, and double-clicking brings up the folder view, but I
cannot select messages - buttons will pop out when the mouse travels
over them, but cannot be clicked.

I have checked for the obvious things - there are no out of view TB
windows that have taken the focus (none that I can find anyway) and
Alt-Tab does not bring up any windows that I could not see. When this
happens, the only solution seems to be to close down TB and start it
again.

Any ideas?

Do you have the control center set to hide or to show up
automatically? TB! seems to have locked up or is busy doing something
when that happens to you. Do you have TB! configured to do a mailcheck
on startup? If so, disable this and see what happens?

Think of a nasty application interaction, another common culprit.
