[Touch-packages] [Bug 1973610] Re: Bluetooth will not stay on or connect to devices when on

2022-05-16 Thread Daniel van Vugt
We haven't had any bug reports like this that weren't hardware-specific.
Maybe to avoid confusion here we should choose just one Bluetooth chip.
Either the USB dongle (Broadcom Corp. BCM20702A0) or the internal chip
(Intel AX210/AX211/AX411).

  PEAP wifi can't connect (ubuntu live/installer is also not working

Status in wpa package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in wpa source package in Jammy:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
  * Impact

  Connecting to some PEAP wifi doesn't work anymore since the openssl3
  transition

  Details on the issue can be found on
  http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/hostap/2022-May/040511.html

  * Test case

  Try using a PEAP wifi not implementing RFC5746, it should be able to
  connect

  * Regression potential

  The change allows to connect to less secure WiFis the same way that
  wpa allowed before openssl3, lower security enforcement isn't ideal
  but still better than non working hardware.

  WPA2 enterprise can't connect PEAP

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1973654] [NEW] Using debian-installer on a server with a Let's Encrypt cert dies

2022-05-16 Thread Mathew Binkley
Public bug reported:

While using debian-installer to install Ubuntu Focal, I get the
following error:

May 16 22:02:41 base-installer:   Certificate verification failed:
The certificate is NOT trusted. The certificate chain uses expired
certificate. Could not handshake: Error in the certificate
verification. [IP: 129.59.59.10 443]

There was an issue in 2021, where the "DST_Root_CA_X3.crt" certificate
used by Let's Encrypt expired.

https://letsencrypt.org/docs/dst-root-ca-x3-expiration-
september-2021/

The problem is that the certificate is still included in the "ca-
certificates_20190110ubuntu1_all.deb" that debian-installer fetches
during install.

May 16 22:02:17 debootstrap: Preparing to unpack
.../ca-certificates_20190110ubuntu1_all.deb ...
May 16 22:02:17 debootstrap: Unpacking ca-certificates (20190110ubuntu1) ...

(20190110ubuntu1) ...
May 16 22:02:40 debootstrap: Running hooks in
/etc/ca-certificates/update.d...

Because the certificate is expired, debian-installer dies with:

May 16 22:02:41 base-installer: Certificate verification failed: The
certificate is NOT trusted. The certificate chain uses expired certificate.
Could not handshake: Error in the certificate verification. [IP: 129.59.59.10

te is NOT trusted. The certificate chain uses expired certificate. Could not
handshake: Error in the certificate verification. [IP: 129.59.59.10 443]

Can Ubuntu update the ca-certificate .deb pulled during install to one
that does not have DST_Root_CA_X3.crt? Thanks.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1966886] Re: ssh-copy-id and Dropbear Server

2022-05-16 Thread Gertjan
Just to add a voice to this: we see the same things migrating from 18.04
to 22.04 while controlling some embedded ARM/Debian devices running
dropbear. The key are indeed appearing in the wrong place as stated
above and the log in does not proceed as expected. We can work around
this for production systems, but the behaviour is confusing (and
obviously not consistent between 18.04 and 22.04).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1964642] Re: Packer virtualbox ssh can't connect to unattended Ubuntu 20.04.1/2/3/4 but can connect to Ubuntu 20.4

Title:
  Packer virtualbox ssh can't connect to unattended Ubuntu 20.04.1/2/3/4
  but can connect to Ubuntu 20.4

Status in openssh package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Two years ago I was able to create a Virtualbox Ubuntu 20.04 guest in a
Windows 10 host with Packer 1.5.6, using an unattended installation.
  The Packer command was:
    "boot_command": [
  " ",
  "autoinstall ds=nocloud-net;s=http://{{ .HTTPIP }}:{{ .HTTPPort }}/",
  ""
    ],
  The user-data file was:
  #cloud-config
  autoinstall:
    version: 1
    identity:
  realname: mclibre
  hostname: ubuntu
  password:
'$6$mclibre$YiuRPSZM3ZXVe4UyIqv1dvy9rUjf5/LsGCkDyaex.WN45wzVTuRmW5QLuctuicGAFZIO2M3QR8NLdtQYatKTn1'
  username: mclibre

    ssh:
  install-server: true
    late-commands:
  - sed -i 's/^#*\(send dhcp-client-identifier\).*$/\1 = hardware;/'
/target/etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf
  - 'sed -i "s/dhcp4: true/&\n  dhcp-identifier: mac/"
/target/etc/netplan/00-installer-config.yaml'
  Now, I have tried to create a Virtualbox Ubuntu 20.04.4/.3/.2/.1 guest using
packer 1.5.6 but Packer can't create the image because once the installation is
done, after rebooting the SSH server does not answer (the packer log error
says: SSH handshake err: Timeout during SSH handshake).
  I have tried with the last version of Packer, Packer 1.8.0, and the result is
the same. I can create a Ubuntu Server 20.4 image but not a Ubuntu Server
20.4.1, .2, .3 or .4 image.
  I can provide as much aditional information as you want.
  Thanking you in advance,
  Bartolome Sintes

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1973654] Re: Using debian-installer on a server with a Let's Encrypt cert dies

2022-05-16 Thread Alex Murray
I believe this is caused by debootstrap - it only uses packages from the
release pocket (and this is frozen from the time Ubuntu 20.04 LTS was
originally released). This is a known issue
https://askubuntu.com/questions/744684/latest-security-updates-with-
debootstrap but I am not sure if there is much you can do to get debian-
installer to say use multistrap instead of debootstrap.

** Package changed: ca-certificates (Ubuntu) => debian-installer
(Ubuntu)

  Using debian-installer on a server with a Let's Encrypt cert dies

Status in debian-installer package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  While using debian-installer to install Ubuntu Focal, I get the
  following error:

  May 16 22:02:41 base-installer:   Certificate verification failed:
  The certificate is NOT trusted. The certificate chain uses expired
  certificate. Could not handshake: Error in the certificate
  verification. [IP: 129.59.59.10 443]

  There was an issue in 2021, where the "DST_Root_CA_X3.crt" certificate
  used by Let's Encrypt expired.

  https://letsencrypt.org/docs/dst-root-ca-x3-expiration-
  september-2021/

  The problem is that the certificate is still included in the "ca-
  certificates_20190110ubuntu1_all.deb" that debian-installer fetches
  during install.

  May 16 22:02:17 debootstrap: Preparing to unpack
.../ca-certificates_20190110ubuntu1_all.deb ...
  May 16 22:02:17 debootstrap: Unpacking ca-certificates (20190110ubuntu1)

Thanks.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1871148] Re: services start before apparmor profiles are loaded

2022-05-16 Thread Maciej Borzecki
@eurbah hi, also for the service in question, can you attach the output
of `systemctl list-dependencies --after snap..service`

AFAICT, all services are to be started after snapd.apparmor.d, which in
turn is started after apparmor.service, which should ensure that
apparmor profiles are loaded before service startup is attempted.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1973405] Re: Ubuntu 22.04/Wayland Session: Crash when resizing snapped windows

2022-05-16 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

you are seeing? What are the services which are not starting?

Also please attach the SVG file generated by "sudo systemd-analyze

Bug description:
  In Power -> Power Saving Options -> Screen Blank - the option states
  that the screen will be turned off after some period, which is what
  I'd expect from a sleep mode.

  I have a hybrid system. I have disabled the internal display and I use
  the external connected via HDMI (and I believe it is connected to the
  NVIDIA GPU). When the screen goes blank the external monitor is not
  turned off really. It goes blank but it is still turned on and glows,
  so no power is saved.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1970799] Re: wifi connection on hotspot with wpa enterprise on 22.04

2022-05-16 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report. Could you edit
/lib/systemd/system/wpa_supplicant.service to add a '-d' to the
ExecStart cmd, restart, try to connect and share the 'journalctl -b 0'
log from the system?

It would also be worth trying if
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wpa/2:2.10-6ubuntu1 makes a
difference for you, could be the same issue with legacy server

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1961427] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

Bug description:
  SRU Justification:
  ==

  [Impact]

  * zlib: compressBound() returns an incorrect result on IBM z15
  hardware.

  * Passing the result of compressBound() to compress() results
    in an error code.

  * This is because compressBound() is not adjusted for DFLTCC.

  [Fix]

  * Adjust compressBound() for DFLTCC like it's already done
    for deflateBound().

  * Since zlib project does not accept patches at the moment,
    the fix has been integrated into the DFLTCC pull request:
    https://github.com/madler/zlib/pull/410
    The commitid is b25781e735363e04f6c56e21431c47e4afc50b17.

  * The fix extracted out of the above is:

https://launchpadlibrarian.net/589857296/debdiff_zlib_1.2.11.dfsg-2ubuntu7_to_zlib_1.2.11.dfsg-2ubuntu8_jammy.diff

  [Test Plan]

  * An IBM z15 system (LPAR, z/VM guest or KVM virtual machine)
    with Ubuntu Server 21.10 (or 22.04).

  * A test can be done based on the following C test program:
    #include
    #include
    #include
    int main() {
    Bytef in_buf[128], out_buf[1024];
    for (size_t i = 0; i < sizeof(in_buf); i++)
    in_buf[i] = rand();
    uLongf dest_len = compressBound(sizeof(in_buf));
    assert(dest_len <= sizeof(out_buf));
    int ret = compress(out_buf, _len,
   in_buf, sizeof(in_buf));
    assert(ret == Z_OK);
    }

  * The test needs to be done by IBM, due to the requirements
    for the special z15 hardware.

  * A successful test was just completed, based on the version in jammy-
  proposed, which is at the same code level that the impish version this
  SRU is targeted for.

  [Where problems could occur]

  * If the adjustment of compressBound() for DFLTCC is done
    erroneously the issue can still be present or in worst case
    even affect Z systems other than z15 only.

  * The compression can become errorneous with the new changes,
    e.g. in compressBound.

  * Mistakes in dfltcc_free_window OF and especially DEFLATE_BOUND_COMPLEN,
    (incl. the bit definitions), may cause various and unforseen defects.

  * Any build time issues that might have been introduced by this patch
    can be identified by a test build; this was done and is available here:
    https://launchpad.net/~fheimes/+archive/ubuntu/lp1961427

  [Other Info]

  * Ubuntu jammy, impish and focal are affected.

  Description: zlib: compressBound() returns an incorrect result on z15
  Symptom: Passing the result of compressBound() to compress()
     results in an error code.
  Problem: compressBound() is not adjusted for DFLTCC.
  Solution: Adjust compressBound() for DFLTCC like it's already done

     patches at the moment, the fix has been integrated into
     the DFLTCC pull request:

     The commitid is b25781e735363e04f6c56e21431c47e4afc50b17.

  Reproduction:  z15 only:
     #include
     #include
     #include
     int main() {
     Bytef in_buf[128], out_buf[1024];
     for (size_t i = 0; i < sizeof(in_buf); i++)
     in_buf[i] = rand();
     uLongf dest_len = compressBound(sizeof(in_buf));
     assert(dest_len <= sizeof(out_buf));
     int ret = compress(out_buf, _len,
    in_buf, sizeof(in_buf));
     assert(ret == Z_OK);

  transition

  Details on the issue can be found on
  http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/hostap/2022-May/040511.html

  * Test case

  Try using a PEAP wifi not implementing RFC5746, it should be able to
  connect

  * Regression potential

  The change allows to connect to less secure WiFis the same way that
  wpa allowed before openssl3, lower security enforcement isn't ideal
  but still better than non working hardware.

  eid-viewer sees no card reader,but When i do:

  sudo pcscd -f

  it is working, also following the tips of Ludovic:

https://ludovicrousseau.blogspot.com/2011/11/pcscd-auto-start-using-systemd.html

  sudo systemctl stop pcscd.socket
  sudo systemctl start pcscd.socket

  It is working until next restart.

  libacsccid1  version: 1.1.8-1
  libccid version: 1.5.0-2
  pcscd version: 1.9.5-3
  eid-archive version: 2022.3
  eid-mw version: 5.0.28v5.0.28-0u2204-1
  eid-viewer version: 5.0.28v5.0.28-0u2204-1

  In Firefox, my eid card is then also recognized, but only in the ESR
  version, but this is a know Mozilla bug.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1958019]

2022-05-16 Thread andreimiculita+kern
Lenovo Legion S7 15IMH5

Has anyone managed to get their sound working on it? Would appreciate a
tutorial or some tips (the more specific, the better, as this thread is
full of other devices as well and it'd take a long time to try
everything)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1958019]

2022-05-16 Thread cam
Looking at the model number, there's a chance it's compatible with the
verbs of the 15IMHG05, or another model from around that time.

Do you know how to build and run your own kernel?

Also, please provide a URL to your alsa-info.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1747499] Re: 98-reboot-required and Interaction with livepatch

2022-05-16 Thread Olivier Gayot
The package FTBFS against -proposed but builds successfully against the
-release pocket.

Based on the error, it seems related to recent changes in how apt
determines kernels that can be autoremoved.

apt (2.0.7) focal; urgency=medium

  * Revert "Protect currently running kernel at run-time"
  * Backport Determine autoremovable kernels at run-time (LP: #1615381) as of
2.4.5; including the change to only protect two kernels, not last installed
one (LP: #1968154)

  [Impact]

   * If a system is using canonical livepatch, has it enabled, and
  patches are applied, it could be confusing for a user to receive a
  "system restart required" messages in the MOTD when logging in.

   * Livepatch is available on LTS releases. Thus, the users can be
  confused following a kernel update on 20.04.

   * The upload prevents update-notifier and unattended-ugprades hooks from
adding "system restart"-related messages to motd when Livepatch is enabled.
  Livepatch, when enabled, already contributes to the motd message so there is
no need to have duplicate (and sometimes contradictory) information.

  [Test Plan]

   * how to reproduce the bug:

 1. Install and boot a 20.04 server VM
 2. Make sure it runs a generic kernel (or another flavour that supports
Livepatch)
 3. Enable Livepatch using the following command:
 $ ua attach # replace by an actual contract token
 4. Upgrade the kernel (if you are already running the latest available
kernel update, you can install a different flavour)
 5. Upon logging in again, the motd will show ***System restart required***.

   * other testing appropriate to perform before landing this update:

* Making sure that the patch has no impact when livepatch is not enabled.
* The motd should show ***System restart required*** after upgrading the
kernel if livepatch is not enabled.

  [Where problems could occur]

   * The change updates a hook script in /etc/kernel/postinst.d/.
  Scripts in this directory are executing when upgrading / installing a
  kernel. If somehow the script is broken, it can prevent dpkg for
  succeeding when upgrading / installing the kernel.

   * If the implementation is wrong, we might end up "losing" the
  ***System restart required*** message when livepatch is disabled

  [Original bug description]

  If a system is using canonical livepatch, has it enabled, and patches
  are applied, it could be confusing for a user to receive a "system
  restart required" messages in the MOTD when logging in.

  That message, when present, is printed by 98-reboot-required which
  essentially just cats /var/run/reboot-required to stdout. That file is
  placed by packages that require a reboot so that they are properly
  used in their updated versions. Examples that come to mind are libc
  and the kernel.

  There is a secondary file that can be created which says which
  packages requested the reboot. That would be /var/run/reboot-
  required.pkgs

  Ideally that script should not print out the reboot required message
  if a) livepatch is installed and enabled; b) the only trigger for the
  reboot is a kernel update.

  For (a), one can use the command "ubuntu-advantage is-livepatch-
  enabled" and check $?. That is in the ubuntu-advantage-tools package.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1973610] [NEW] Bluetooth will not stay on or connect to devices when on

2022-05-16 Thread wolfgang rumpf
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading from Ubuntu 20.10, my internal bluetooth card as well as
an external usb dongle will not work. Bluetooth starts as off, and
cannot be turned on. If I use systemctl to turn it on, it is on but
doesn't find any devices through bluez. Blueman finds devices but

We haven't got new reports since the fix landed nor visible regression
so let's say the fix is working as intended.

  Copy from Firefox Wayland fails to be pasted anywhere else

Status in GTK+:
  Unknown
Status in gtk+3.0 package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in gtk+3.0 source package in Impish:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
  * Impact

  The clipboard copies from GTK based software sometime stop working
  under wayland

  * Test Case

  - in a wayland session try to copy text between software, from firefox
  to gedit for example, it should work in a consistent manner

  alternative testcase inspired from the gitlab ticket
  - install wl-clipboard
  - use evince to open a pdf
  - select and copy some content
  - on a cmdline do
  $ wl-paste -t TEXT
  - try to paste then in another software, gedit for example

  the copied text should be pasted

  * Regression potential

  The changes are in the wayland selection source so the impact should
  only be for wayland users and limited to clipboard interactions

  Running Firefox 84.0.2 for Ubuntu Canonical-1.0 on Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS, on
Wayland native

  Version   84.0.2
  Build ID  20210105180113

  Window Protocol   wayland
  Desktop Environment   gnome

  DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM:

  If I copy text from a web page and try to paste it into another
  Firefox page, the text is pasted correctly.

  If I copy text from a web page and try to paste it in [gedit,
  libreoffice, thunderbird, terminal, slack (electron)] nothing happens.
  The Gnome Clipboard extension stays empty when content is copied from
  Firefox Wayland.

  Pasting *from* another app *to* Firefox works fine.

  Ideally that script should not print out the reboot required message
  if a) livepatch is installed and enabled; b) the only trigger

  As of March 29, 2017, this source package did not contain dep8 tests in
  the current development release of Ubuntu, named Zesty. This was
  determined by running `pull-lp-source cyrus-sasl2 zesty` and then
  checking for the existence of 'debian/tests/' and
  'debian/tests/control'.

  Test automation is essential to higher levels of quality and confidence
  in updates to packages. dep8 tests [1] specify how automatic testing can
  be integrated into packages and then run by package maintainers before
  new uploads.

  This defect is to report the absence of these tests and to report the
  opportunity as a potential item for development by both new and
  experienced contributors.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1973608] [NEW] udev TAG-="uaccess" does not work on ubuntu 22.04

2022-05-16 Thread Valentyna
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 22.04.
Udev version 249.11-0ubuntu3.1.

I have 72-my-rule.rules

ACTION=="add|bind", SUBSYSTEM=="usb",
ENV{ID_USB_INTERFACES}=="*:060101:*", TAG-="uaccess", RUN:="/bin/setfacl
-m g:sudo:rw -m g:plugdev:rw $env{DEVNAME}"

It removes TAG uaccess for my usb device. On my ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04
it works fine, but on 22.04 does not. It causes next rule 73-seat-
late.rules to run builtin uaccess, which does not need to run.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1962541] Re: PEAP wifi can't connect (ubuntu live/installer is also not working

2022-05-16 Thread Robert C Jennings
Promotion from -proposed sure would be nice. I see verification has
been done but a update excuses shows an netplan.io regression[1]. I'm
not sure if the test is flaky but I see that seb retried it a few
times[2] last week and it failed consistently, so maybe not.

I'm just curious if there's any status on the test failure.

(Also, I started writing this thinking it had been a month but it's been
less than a week and I can't tell time. I know it wouldn't be promoted
with less than a week in -proposed anyway.)

  A simple typo using the update-locale script can render a system inoperable
without booting into single user mode or similar:

  $ sudo update-locale LANGUAGE = en_US.UTF-8
  $ sudo -s
  sudo: pam_open_session: Bad item passed to pam_*_item()
  sudo: policy plugin failed session initialization

  [test case]
  $ cp /etc/default/locale /tmp/locale
  $ update-locale --locale-file /tmp/locale LANGUAGE = en_US.UTF-8

  "diff -u /etc/default/locale /tmp/locale" should be empty.

  $ update-locale --locale-file /tmp/locale LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8

  The LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 line should have been replaced by
  LANGUAGE=en_GB.UTF-8.

  $ update-locale --locale-file /tmp/locale LANGUAGE

  The LANGUAGE setting is now commented out.

  [regression potential]
  Apart from the general concerns about a glibc rebuild, this is a simple
change to a simple script. Performing the test as in the test case section is
enough to ensure it still works.

  [original description]
  By passing wrong input as following:
   sudo update-locale LANGUAGE = en_US.UTF-8
  result is:

  This "equal" sign that was added makes system completely
  unusable(can't run sudo anymore):

  bentzy@bentzy-nb:~$ sudo vim /etc/default/locale

  sudo: policy plugin failed session initialization

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1971932] Re: error in rsync protocol data stream

2022-05-16 Thread Lena Voytek
I attempted to reproduce by running the command through localhost over
ssh and it succeeded using a 3GB file. This may be due to the transfer
between Ubuntu and Debian then. Here is my test case:

# lxc launch images:ubuntu/jammy test-rsync
# lxc exec test-rsync bash
# apt update && apt dist-upgrade -y
# apt install rsync openssh-server
# passwd ubuntu
# su ubuntu
# cd
# mkdir dest
# head -c 3GB /dev/urandom > test
# rsync -avz --stats -e ssh test localhost:~/dest/

@jmbaudach can you try to transfer your over 2GB file locally with ssh
to see if it fails there. That will help us narrow down the issue.

Thanks!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1957104] Re: updating openssh-server fails, because port 22 is in use by systemd

2022-05-16 Thread Lena Voytek
Hello Thomas,

Since the issue can't be reproduced in impish or jammy, is this an error
you found in Focal, or has this been fixed for you? If it's an error in
an earlier supported version then we can backport the fix to it.

Thanks!

Title:
  updating openssh-server fails, because port 22 is in use by systemd

Status in openssh package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  openssh-server tries to restart itself, but openssh-server reports
  port 22 in use. This is true: systemd has taken port 22 to start sshd
  if one connects to port 22.

  two solutions:
  1. dont start sshd after installing.
 configure it without starting it afterwards.
  2. stop systemd listening on port 22
 before starting sshd, then start sshd,
 terminate it after configuring, then
 start systemd listening on port 22 again.

  Second problem:
  starting ssh.service does not check if "/run/sshd" exists. This directory has
to be created before sshd is started. Unclear if this is an error with sshd not
creating this directory before dropping privileges or if this has to be done
once while installing. IMHO the first is the case.

  Workaround:
  systemctl stop ssh.service
  systemctl disable ssh.service
  apt upgrade
  systemctl enable ssh.service
  killall sshd
  mkdir /run/sshd
  systemctl start ssh.service

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1973379] Re: "additional drivers" says we are using nvidia drivers but its not true

2022-05-16 Thread Henning Sprang
Thanks, but I am not sure if that can still be helpful for the
analysis, because in the meantime I got the nvidia drivers running
properly.
What finally got me there was these commands:

ubuntu-drivers devices
ubuntu-drivers autoinstall
apt install nvidia-dkms-510
update-initramfs -k all -u

and a reboot.

it could be that the first two are not needed when properly selecting
the nvidia drivers in the GUI drivers tool, but it appears to me the
dkms part is missing in the GUI tool just as in the CLI version, and
without that the drivers are not running for me.

here's the debug output:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1973608] Re: udev TAG-="uaccess" does not work on ubuntu 22.04

2022-05-16 Thread Nick Rosbrook
This was a deliberate change in systemd [1] to address the kernel's
bind/unbind uevent issue [2]. In short, it is an intentional change in
udev's behavior, and unfortunately breaks the assumptions that your
custom udev rules rely on.

  It removes TAG uaccess for my usb device. On my ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04
  it works fine, but on 22.04 does not. It causes next rule 73-seat-
  late.rules to run builtin uaccess, which does not need to run.

  * Impact

  Connecting to some PEAP wifi doesn't work anymore since the openssl3
  transition

  Details on the issue can be found on
  http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/hostap/2022-May/040511.html

  * Test case

  Try using a PEAP wifi not implementing RFC5746, it should be able to
  connect

  * Regression potential

  The change allows to connect to less secure WiFis the same way that
  wpa allowed before openssl3, lower security enforcement isn't ideal
  but still better than non working hardware.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1973217] Re: package openssh-server 1:8.2p1-4ubuntu0.5 failed to install/upgrade: installed openssh-server package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status

2022-05-16 Thread Lena Voytek
Hello Frank,

You noted that this may be due to update-manager having two instances
running. Were you able to try again with one running to get it updated?
If not, does updating with:

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade

cause any errors?

Thanks!

  Update gdb to the final 12.1 release in 22.04 LTS. jammy ships with
  the gdb 12.1 release candidate, taken from the gdb-12 branch. Changes
  up to the final release are:

   - updated gnulib library
   - Fix for PR mi/29002 (Windows only)
   - gdb: fix 'remote show FOO-packet' aliases
   - various testsuite fixes
   - fixing compiler warnings
   - Fix bug in Ada number lexing
   - Remove "Ada Settings" node from the manual
   - Handle TLS variable lookups when using separate debug files.
   - PR 28980: gdb: don't copy entirely optimized out values in value_copy
   - gdb/mi: fix use after free of frame_info causing spurious notifications

  Comparing the test results between the two builds doesn't show any
  regression on any architecture.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1973137] Re: ldap_do_free_request: Assertion `lr->lr_refcnt == 1' failed

2022-05-16 Thread Lena Voytek
Hello Sebastian,

Thank you for taking the time to make this bug report. The error you are
encountering shows up through openldap, so marking the bug under
openldap is fine. It may be due to multiple sources attempting to free a
request. Does this error show up every time you attempt to log in?

Thanks

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1973137] Re: ldap_do_free_request: Assertion `lr->lr_refcnt == 1' failed

2022-05-16 Thread Sebastian Mendyka
Hi Lena,

i found the Problem after some time:

I dont know why but Ubuntu 22.04 needs longer to take the LDAP Request.
This is also the answer, why ldap without HAPROXY is working.

Now i have set HAPROXY timeout to 5sec and it is working now. With
Ubuntu 20.04 (same configuration) ldap Login with timeout of "1sec" is
possible.

Regards
Sebastian
