Actually it does seem to respect it:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ $ bin/ssh-wrapper/ssh -V
OpenSSH_4.7p1 Debian-8ubuntu1.2, OpenSSL 0.9.8g 19 Oct 2007

Which is identical to the /usr/bin/ssh -V output.

But yeah, I don't care any more. :-)

If you are the maintainer, that is fair enough.

However, if this report has, in your view, no merit whatsoever, please
don't keep the uninformed users hanging by reverting this to "New",

In other words, if you are not going to upgrade mplayer, please mark

[Bug 252817] Re: ctrl doesn't work when used in conjunction with shift click for multiple file selection

2008-07-28 Thread m0u5e
Sorry What I gave was a little rudimentry...

The issue becomes more apparent when more files are being selected

I'll attach a screenshot so that it becomes more clear.

Try to recreate the following scenario found in the attachment
screenshot.

If in windows (or any other desktop environment / OS) I would select
logos -> case oakland university, then ctrl+select case_ubuntu
locatrix_v1.pdf, then ctrl+select fables_01_aesop.spx, then
ctrl+shift+select oo-about-these-files.odt (this would select everything
in between), then ctrl+select oo-derivatives.doc, then ctrl+shift+select
oo-presenting-ubuntu.odp.

currently in nautilus, it doesn't work this way, as once you have
selected file(s), you cannot reselect many files using shift without
losing your current selection, or if you use ctrl+shift which most users
would attempt to do, you may only select one file at a time.

I hope this makes it easier to understand... I'm not very sure on the
terminology / a better way to explain, and am trying to do the best I
can. Please DO point out better ways to explain it / any questions you
have.

[Bug 252817] [NEW] ctrl doesn't work when used in conjunction with shift click for multiple file selection

2008-07-28 Thread Dennis Ta
Public bug reported:

Ctrl doesn't perform it's expected role of allowing multiple file
selection to occur when used in conjunction with the shift key.

For example, when selecting files A, B, C, D, E:

If I select files A thru C using: click A, shift+click C, continuing to
hold ctrl+click E should allow me to select the rest of the files,
however this is not the case.

Rather it will only select E, so that A, B, C, E are selected in total.

More self-experimentation will show that selection with ctrl+shift
result illogical file selection.

This is a standard feature in almost every OS I have run across, and I'm
not sure if it's just not implemented or if there are key conflicts that
cause this not to occur, but a default install of ubuntu should have
this enabled.

[Bug 252813] [NEW] SEGFAULT in Firefox-3.0 on certain sites

2008-07-28 Thread Josh Simmons
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

On the following two sites I'm able to get a reproducible SEGFAULT with
Firefox 3.0.1 on Ubuntu 8.04.

http://robotgrrl.com/blog/2008/04/30/stanford-epgy-d/
http://www.kubiakhart.com/index.php?article=view&id=35

Firefox 2 doesn't seem to have this issue. I've disabled JavaScript and
Java and still have the problem, and even in safe-mode the problem
persists. I tried it on another Ubuntu machine and can't reproduce the
problem. I'm new to the debugging and troubleshooting in Linux, not
really sure what to try. No core dumped so I can't really rely on that.
Not sure how to do a trace quite yet either... Any ideas?

Firefox package is 3.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.3 0.

The behavior of usplash in this case is correct. Since a specific step
of the boot process takes a abnormal time to finishes, it drops to
console so you can see what's going on. According to this, I set this
bug as a duplicate of bug 219349 which aim to fix that abnormal boot
time during the activation of swap partition.

[Bug 252812] [NEW] ubuntu hangs on inserting sd card

2008-07-28 Thread Amar
Public bug reported:

1) Using 8.0.4. Update Manager shows i am up to date.
2) Using kernel image 2.6.24
3) After inserting the sd card into the built in slot, ubuntu hangs within a
few seconds. The first time this happened, ubuntu got hung as soon as the SD
card image appeared on the desktop. Next time, it stayed there for a few
seconds and as soon as F-Spot started downloading images, it got hung. Tried
again and it got hung as soon as i inserted the card.
When ubuntu got hung, you could see a frozen desktop. Nothing changed..no mouse
movements. Had to reboot.
4) Expected the card to get auto-mounted (which i think it did, since i could
see the image on desktop), and ubuntu to be stable while the pictures were
download from the card by any Photo Manager application.
5) F-Spot Photo Mgr version i am using is 0.4.3.1.
Attached are the logs for the first time it got hung.

Thanks,
Amar

2008-07-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Unfortunately I have since got rid of that hardware. However even with
my new hardware (Nvidia NVS290), the issue is trivial to reproduce; with
and without compiz. Compile the below C program and watch the CPU usage
of Xorg. It's totally unacceptable to anyone with programming and
graphics knowledge...

#include
#define LINES_PER_SEC 100
int
main(int argc, char *argv[])
{
int n;
for (n=0; n < 1; n++)
{
usleep(100/LINES_PER_SEC);
printf("Hello world %d\n", n);
}
return 0;
}

[Bug 229043] Re: System freezes when clicking shutdown button

2008-07-28 Thread f4hy
I have had the same issue for months and do not have keytouch installed.

The problem is not due to Intel drivers as I am experiencing it using
nvidia.

A work around seems to be to turn compiz off by running 'metacity
--replace &'

The interesting thing is that I do not get this problem every time. It
seems to be about 80%. Even when it does hang it will finally respond
after about 15 minutes and show the logout dialog. In the mean time
killing the session with ctrl+alt+backspace appears to work.

Re: [Bug 218760] Re: [regression] Dock with USB devices + suspend == resume fails

2008-07-28 Thread David Alexis
I'm sorry, but this is a little ridiculous. I read that thread, and this
guy, Alan Stern, is saying that nobody else is reporting this problem?? Has
he done the slightest bit of research into the issue?

I've been a developer for 19 years and I've seen this too many times. I'm
sorry, but its laziness on the developer's part. Everyone in the known
universe using Ubuntu is having this issue. People have supplied debugging
info over and over again. All it takes just a little initiative on the
developer(s) responsible for this code to run their own test. I get the
problem with *every* USB hub I try! Reproducing this would be as hard as
shooting fish in a barrel.

[Bug 252799] [NEW] intrepid-alternate-amd64.iso only 42.556KB?

2008-07-28 Thread zshaooo
Public bug reported:

i downloaded the Ubuntu Intrepid-Alpha3 at p.m. yesterday,
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/intrepid/alpha-3/
Alternate install CD>64-bit PC (AMD64) alternate install CD
and burn the image successfully.

But when i install the image at "checking cdrom",the error is file failed.
Then,i detect the .iso,it's only  42.556KB.

#md5sum intrepid-alternate-amd64.iso
and found the result differ from the
"http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/intrepid/alpha-3/MD5SUMS";.

i don't know the reason.
the transfers is fail during downloading iso file?
or,the source error?

Please ,thanks.

[Bug 205773] Re: Nautilus tries to copy a dragged file into Network on hover and freezes

2008-07-28 Thread Mike Rooney
I thought it was the 2.23 series that is currently in Intrepid
(http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/nautilus), with plans for 2.24.
Gnome 2.26 won't be until Intrepid+1, right? Am I missing something?

Sorry, I have learnt that this isn't the right place to give bug reports
to the developers of sound-juicer, so I will create a bug report in the
right bugtracker. You can close this ticket.
