[Bug 411533] Re: users and groups prog blocked on first launch
Cool! This problem must have appeared in Karmic, since in previous releases the backends were started at boot time before they were actually needed (which is wrong BTW). But I really don't see how it could affect some users and not all of them. And still I don't have seen other reports about that. Were you able to reproduce the bug with a clean Karmic install in a VM? I'd expect so, but... I'll do some research, and make this fix available by the next release, which should be in Karmic. [Bug 423534] [NEW] Select sound output from gnome-volume-control-applet menu
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-media This is not a bug. Set it please to wishlist. I've made some changes in gnome-media package for ease of switching the sound output in cases where you have more than one sound output. Now there is sub-menu in the gnome-volume-control-applet menu where you can choose the current sound output. This is very useful if you have a bluetooth headset. Menu will show up only when there is more than one audio output devices. I've contacted gnome-media maintainer Marc-André Lureau. He recommended me to register it as a bug on bugzilla.gnome.org, which i did. Bug:#593752 http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=593752 Also he said that this will not be in the 2.28 because it is in UI/string freeze. Maybe it is possible to get it into Ubuntu karmic? Attached patch file with changes made. Just get gnome-media source package, drop patch into package's debian/pathces directory and build it. Here you can see how it looks in action: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/225762/select-sink-submenu-screenshot.png Here you can take a ready-compiled packages for karmic: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/225762/gnome-media/gnome-media_2.27.90-0ubuntu1%7Eviks1_i386.deb http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/225762/gnome-media/gnome-media-common_2.27.90-0ubuntu1%7Eviks1_all.deb http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/225762/gnome-media/libgnome-media0_2.27.90-0ubuntu1%7Eviks1_i386.deb ** Affects: gnome-media (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Select sound output from gnome-volume-control-applet menu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/423534 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 394402] Re: 32MB r200 DRI Slow - Fails to allocate texture
Indeed, I grabbed the karmic build from 20090902, ran it as a live CD. This didn't have an xorg.conf, and the generated Xorg.0.log indicates that XAA was loaded automatically in lieu of EXA. I then proceeded to try Firefox, but it crashes on startup, probably because the window is quite large and the compositing window manager ran out of video ram. But that's a different issue. ** Attachment added: "Xorg.0.log" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/31265522/Xorg.0.log -- 32MB r200 DRI Slow - Fails to allocate texture https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/394402 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 423518] [NEW] video-all metapackage includes many useless drivers on armel
Public bug reported: armel (and ppc) architectures include the xserver-xorg-video-all package for graphics. Inside this metapackage is described every xorg video driver available in the standard distro; however many of these cards are exceedingly rare on these platforms. For example, vga and vesa are not very useful. Several of the drivers are very rare even on i386 architectures (and it would be practically unheard of to see them on x64, too). The package should be knocked down to the bare essentials of the most common drivers for the appropriate architecture in order to save space on installation images. If users require such graphics cards, perhaps the video-all package should not pull dependencies but instead udev should notice a video card was plugged since last boot, and fetch the appropriate driver instead of lumping them all into the system, similar to the way codecs are installed? Ironically I can't even find the armel packages for vesa or vga in ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports pool (not main, universe, multiverse..) so i wonder why rootstock manages to pull them in or why they are installed on a Babbage using the latest karmic netboot? [Bug 422110] Re: stickynotes_applet crashed with SIGSEGV
Hey guys. I've managed to get the stickynotes applet icon added to the bar, however it fails to add new notes. The way I've managed to add it was by removing the previously created $HOME/.gnome2/stickynotes_applet file. After it has been removed, I added the applet and the icon was shown there and no error displayed. However, when trying to add a new note, the error was showed again. I did the following and got the attached output (the output was given to me when trying to add a new note): - I installed the gnome-applet-dbg package. - remove all the instances of the sticky notes on the panel. - run gdb as: gdb /usr/lib/gnome-applets/stickynotes_applet - execute run inside gdb - right click on the panel and add the sticky notes applet to the panel - right click on the sticky notes applet, and add a new note. Hope this helps. Btw Pedro, if you have time to show me how to fix this, let me know since I would love to learn. This actually is a hardware limitation.
