[Bug 1395343] [NEW] Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic suspend/resume not working for my Laptop
Public bug reported: The Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic suspend/resume is not working for my Laptop. I first tried with the Live CD, on failing that, and thinking that suspend might need some disk to write to for the suspend info, I did a HD installation. But still, suspend/resume is still not working. On second attempt (after HD installation), I switched to console and close my Laptop lid. It suspended well, as it has always been. On resume, I see the repeating errors of `sda1` soft reset failure (or something like that). Minutes later, I start to see all kinds of disk related errors, disk sector writing error, ext4 journal error, etc. I thus think the reason of `resume` not working is that the HD is not waken up. This is Acer Aspire AS5536, with XUbuntu 14.10 Utopic. Any more info that I can provide? [Bug 1313754] Re: [HP Pavilion dv6-6c80el Entertainment Notebook PC] PrintScreen button does nothing.
Dear Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch), Sorry for not replying earlier. I could check only now this bug. I tested both Ubuntu 13.04 and 13.10, and both worked the printscreen command by using the printscreen button. However, on the version 13.10, the key combination fn+del also calls the printscreen command. Using Ubuntu 14.04 only fn+del works. Hope this can help somewhat. [Bug 1395284] [NEW] Unstable wireless connections with 802.11n and kernel 3.16
Public bug reported: Using kernel 3.16 the wireless connections on 802.11n networks are very unstable and they fail after few minutes. Even if the NetworkManager says that it is still connected, nothing works and I have to manually disconnect and connect again. And so on. The problem was not present in kernel 3.14 (i.e. in Ubuntu 14.04) and seems to be resolved in 3.18-rc5, even if in this case the connections seem to be slower (but stable). The solution (or better, the workaround) that has been proposed in askubuntu does not work for me ( http://askubuntu.com/questions/544074 /unstable-wireless-in-ubuntu-14-10 ). I have no problem with older wifi standard: if I set my router to not use the 11n standard, it works perfectly. [Bug 1375995] Re: [HP Compaq dc7800 Small Form Factor PC] suspend/resume failure
@Matt Taylor I have not filed an upstream bug for this. Until now I was not sure if I am the only one having this bug, so this information is helpful for me at least. As you can see in the activity log, I followed the procedure suggested in the Ubuntu Wiki, however, this did not result in more information. I also tried to remove as many kernel modules as possible, but I was still not able to resume. I even connected a serial console to my PC to see if some information is printed while supending/resuming, but the console is switched off before the freeze. Maybe there is more debug instrumentation in the kernel which could be activated or we have to modify the kernel with printk statements or use kgdb to find the place where it is freezing or the difference between the states after hibernation and power-up. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1375995 Title: [HP Compaq dc7800 Small Form Factor PC] suspend/resume failure To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1375995/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

In this situation the networkmanager is switching from BSSID Zadel6 to none, none to none and none to Zadel6. [Bug 1395301] [NEW] Inconsistent terminology for Bluetooth pairing
Public bug reported: The Personal File Sharing Preferences window has two sections relating to Bluetooth, and those use different terminology (and user interface features) to describe Bluetooth pairing, both from one another and from the main Bluetooth settings. Under Share Files over Bluetooth, the requirement for pairing is controlled by a tickbox labelled Require remote devices to bond with this computer, while under Receive Files over Bluetooth, it's controlled by a pop-up menu labelled Accept files: with options Always and Only for set up devices. As far as I can tell from the docuementation (which disagrees slightly about how the user interface should look), these controls have equivalent effects and control whether files can be respectively browsed or sent by unpaired devices. Meanwhile, the Bluetooth indicator menu uses the phrase Set-up [sic] New Device, the Bluetooth pane of System Settings describes certain devices as Paired, and the Ubuntu Desktop Guide explains how to Connect your computer to a Bluetooth device but helpfully explains that This is also called pairing the Bluetooth devices. Personally, I think that both of these settings should be tickboxes, and their labels should both be phrased in terms of paired deviced, since that's standard Bluetooth terminology. For consistency with the Ubuntu Desktop Guide, perhaps connected would be better (but I think it's less obvious what it means). PS: I've just found the Control sharing over Bluetooth page of the Ubuntu Desktop Guide, which adds to the fun by introducing trusted devices, which are apparently yet another way of talking about paired devices. [Bug 1054808] Re: Default filename for screenshots is problematic
Ok, now that the upstream pushed it (and added another patch for gnome- settings-daemon at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=740520 ) for 3.14, with a bit of luck it will percolate to Ubuntu Gnome in a couple of years ;-). My suggestion would be to simply ditch the thing and use shutter by default. ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #740520 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=740520 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1054808 Title: Default filename for screenshots is problematic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-screenshot/+bug/1054808/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1220426] Re: [nvidia-prime]Freeze while using touchpad
All due respect to the countless developers that took 14 months to fix a critical bug affecting god knows how many Ubuntu releases but their job doesn't end with writing a patch. The patch needs to be made available to the majority of users which do not have the tech skills to apply it - either by means of a temp PPA or by means of writing PROPER instructions for compiling, upgrading and most importantly DOWNGRADING if their patch goes ka-boom. I see this very rarely happening on Launchpad so yes - people have the right to ask here what to do with this piece of code. [Bug 1395310] [NEW] UI quirk in other software tab
Public bug reported: When (in the other software tab) the window is scrolled down all the way (see attached screenshot) and I activate/deactivate a ppa the UI suddenly jumps and the affected line is much further down in the window (see next screenshot). Thus the mouse pointer is now above a different entry. Steps to reproduce: in software-properties/other software * scroll all the way down * click on the checkbox of one entry approximately in the middle of the window * all lines will suddenly jump down, leaving you with the mouse pointer on a completely different entry ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.10 Package: software-properties-gtk 0.94 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.16.0-24.32-generic 3.16.4 Uname: Linux 3.16.0-24-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.14.7-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sat Nov 22 13:20:37 2014 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/software-properties-gtk InterpreterPath: /usr/bin/python3.4 PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: software-properties UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to utopic on 2014-11-22 (0 days ago) ** Affects: software-properties (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug third-party-packages utopic ** Attachment added: screenshot before activating a ppa https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1395310/+attachment/4265709/+files/Screenshot%20from%202014-11-22%2013%3A22%3A47.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1395310 Title: UI quirk in other software tab To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-properties/+bug/1395310/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
