[Bug 1657092] Re: deja-dup refers to "Files" instead of "Caja"

Yes, it works in Caja. I originally filed this against Ubuntu Mate,
thinking that it was something to be fixed in Mate, since Files isn't
the file manager in Mate :/

[Bug 1659922] Re: Firefox 51.0.1 does not display pages/shows blank pages.

2017-01-29 Thread Thomas Mayer
Google translate translates comment 19 to "Thomas Mayer (thomas303),
after adding the owner /dev/shm/org.chromium.* rw in the patch and
Apparmor profile for Firefox Firefox earned. Thank you. But this is a
crutch, an update on the issue as there was no and no. Employees of
Canonical - Students who do not test software security."

@anikitushkin

There's no reason to believe that the package maintainers lowered
security by NOT applying necessary changes to the new requirements of FF
49+. It's rather the other way round: Not widening the apparmor profile
to the new requirements of FF is pretty conservative in terms of
security. It's just that apparmor blocking requirements of FF renders it
broken now - be it because of that conservative approach or because of
not testing at all. I agree, that should and could have been tested in
the first place, namely before releasing new major versions of FF.

Of course, the FF package needs to be updated to fix this issue for
average users. I'm not the maintainer of the FF package, which basically
means that I don't have permission to do that myself.

I guess that you can speed up Canonical's integration of the patch into
the official package by testing it and reporting back if it works. The
reason for that is that package maintainers hopefully become more
confident that the patch really fixes exactly this issue as long as
multiple users report exactly that, independently of each other.

@wfhammond My patch is tested by myself against 16.04 only. It's not
tested against 12.04 or 14.04. I'm not sure how that works out, would be
great if you can test it against 12.04, too.

[Bug 1607169] Re: Youtube Videos in Video Scope are not working

2017-01-29 Thread André Fettouhi
It is the former. When in the Video scope tapping a video from Youtube
doesn't bring up a preview. I just get a empty screen and I can see the
progress bar below running for a few seconds and then it stops/gives up.
On the other hand if you tap a video from Vimeo then the preview shows
up fine and you tap the preview and the browser opens as expected.

2017-01-29 Thread Michi Henning
> Thumbnailer sounds like something that should already be part of other
snaps, not something that is potentially stand-alone...?

If each snap includes its own thumbnailer, each snap will redundantly
store thumbnails (making the idea of a cache much less useful).
Moreover, all the databases for the thumbnails will eat disk space like
crazy.

[Bug 1654116] Re: Attempts to write leadership settings when not the leader during relation-changed hooks

2017-01-29 Thread John A Meinel
The actual promise from Juju is that from the time you call 'is-leader'
and get a True value, that you will have 30s before we would possibly
return True to any other unit.

Internally the mechanism is that we obtain a lease (valid for 1 minute)
and attempt to renew that lease every 30s (so the very latest time you
could call is-leader is with 31s left, if we failed to renew the
leadership token).

Is it possible that there is a gap from when you call "is-leader" until
you actually do "leader-set" that is longer than 30s? I'm wondering if
you're running into load issues causing us to fail to renew the
leadership during normal operation.

We do persist who has leadership in the database, which means it should
be stable across the API server restarting, etc. I haven't heard of a
case where 'is-leader' can return true but leader-set would then
immediately fail, but I can imagine that load could play a factor.

[Bug 1660242] [NEW] Thumbnailer should be packaged as a snap

2017-01-29 Thread James Henstridge
Public bug reported:

We need to package Thumbnailer as a snap. Some requirements are:

  1. package should use strict confinement
  2. service should be usable from other strictly confined snaps
  3. ???

[Bug 1660242] Re: Thumbnailer should be packaged as a snap

2017-01-29 Thread James Henstridge
thumbnailer-admin can't talk to thumbnailer-service. Ideally
communication like this between apps from a single snap should be
unrestricted:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/snappy/+bug/1659724

thumbnailer-service hits problems due to missing gdk-pixbuf loader
cache. Seems to be an issue with desktop-launch script:

[Bug 1660241] [NEW] rewrite.pl does not prevent cache miss

2017-01-29 Thread John McCabe-Dansted
Public bug reported:

Even though my rewrite.pl rewrites the URL to be the same, we still get
a "miss" in the log.

For example, I have the following two TCP_MISSes my access.log

--
1485749121.397128 192.168.1.152 TCP_MISS/200 109932 GET
http://ftp.iinet.net.au/pub/ubuntu/pool/universe/l/leafpad/leafpad_0.8.18.1-4_amd64.deb
 - HIER_DIRECT/218.100.43.30 application/x-debian-package
1485749168.539 17 192.168.1.11 TCP_MISS/200 109932 GET
http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/l/leafpad/leafpad_0.8.18.1-4_amd64.deb
 - HIER_DIRECT/218.100.43.30 application/x-debian-package
--

My rewrite.pl (attached) outputs the following to my rewrite.log, which seems
to show that we have fetched exactly the same file twice:
--
http://ftp.iinet.net.au/pub/ubuntu/pool/universe/l/leafpad/leafpad_0.8.18.1-4_amd64.deb
 ::
http://mirror.waia.asn.au/ubuntu/pool/universe/l/leafpad/leafpad_0.8.18.1-4_amd64.deb
http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/l/leafpad/leafpad_0.8.18.1-4_amd64.deb
 ::
http://mirror.waia.asn.au/ubuntu//pool/universe/l/leafpad/leafpad_0.8.18.1-4_amd64.deb
--

I would expect the second access to be a hit since we are downloading
the exact same file from the same URL.

[Bug 1655181] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2017-01-29 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From amo...@au1.ibm.com 2017-01-29 22:25 EDT---
I think both e4aa8a9 ("PowerPC64 ELFv1 undefined weak functions") and 7f27ccfc
("PR 20472, PowerPC64 ifunc confusion") should be left off 2.26 based binutils.

While the undefined weak fix is desirable, it broke ifunc and the
followup fix for ifunc dynamic relocation accounting confusion requires
other infrastructure changes that are not on 2.26. The backports
necessary are large enough that I think it would be better to simply
require 2.27 if we really want undefined weak to be fixed.

[Bug 1598243] Re: Mir does not support multiple GPUs/cards simultaneously

2017-01-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt
We discussed doing a quick fix for 1.0 that supports only the multiple
Mesa devices case. If we do that then this bug still needs to stay open
for the main case of multiple different devices/drivers such as
Nvidia+Intel (not nouveau).

[Bug 1458322] Re: NetworkManager doesn't hide virtual interfaces (e.g. Docker, VMWare)

2017-01-29 Thread Oh the Huge Manatee
I tried it out on 1.2.2, since that's the version I have to work with. I
also had to patch applet-device-ethernet.c , otherwise it still listed
the header for each interface. Pushed my version up to
https://github.com/ohthehugemanatee/network-manager-applet for
convenience.

I only applied this hiding behavior to ethernet interfaces, because this
ticket is specific to virtual ethernet interfaces from docker, vagrant,
etc. I'm sure there are people who would like to hide other unmanaged
interfaces, too. TBH I would prefer a flag for "show-unmanaged", but
that discussion probably belongs in a separate ticket.

Patch attached. Sorry if the format isn't right, this is my first
contribution here.

[Bug 1659922] Re: Firefox 51.0.1 does not display pages/shows blank pages.

2017-01-29 Thread Thomas Mayer
@wfhammond It is not necessary to build FF to test my patch from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1659988

The patch patches a config file only (an apparmor profile, to be
precise). Can be done in a text editor, too. With the patch applied, FF
51.0.1 should work again.

[Bug 1659922] Re: Firefox 51.0.1 does not display pages/shows blank pages.

2017-01-29 Thread William F Hammond
I'm seeing this for the first time with my update yesterday, 28 Jan 2017
23:00 PST, pushed out with standard Ubuntu updates for Ubuntu 12.04.5
LTS.

I can see the default entrance page, the preferences page, and
about:config. But I cannot see any html pages. However, html
does appear to render in the frame title bar, and rolling the mouse
seems to show urls behind links in the normal way at the lower left
corner of the frame.

I'm not building firefox from source.

Is there a fix in about:config?

Otherwise could you push out a fixed build for the dpkg package
"firefox" within a few days?

Thanks.

  $ git clone https://github.com/libimobiledevice/libimobiledevice.git
  $ cd libimobiledevice
  $ ./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr/local/libimobiledevice

[Bug 1660206] [NEW] Make casper capable of fetching filesystem.squashfs through http

2017-01-29 Thread Apachez
Public bug reported:

Playing with PXE boot the Ubuntu Live CD works when using NFS.

Downside with NFS is that it isnt firewall friendly (out of the box) and
after the boot completes the client still requires access to the NFS
share.

A great fix would be if casper becomes capable of fetching
filesystem.squashfs through http during boot. This way no NFS is needed
and once booted the squashfs is then located in the system RAM so no
more network activity is needed (when starting applications in the live
CD environment).

The following page have provided a patch for this but it would be great
if this patch can be part of the official behaviour of casper:

boot#comment-25776

[Bug 1652270] Re: Could not boot into RPi3 with kernel 4.4.0-1038-raspi2

2017-01-29 Thread Andreas Hösl
The problem is fixed for me. I did some tests with a fresh installation
on a rpi3 with the image from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/RaspberryPi.
The image did not boot after a simple apt-get update && apt-get upgrade.
The kernel was not updated, still version 1009 from the image.

The uboot error was:

  ## Executing script at 0200
  libfdt fdt_check_header(): FDT_ERR_BADMAGIC
No FDT memory address configured. Please configure
the FDT address via "fdt addr " command.

  Kernel image @ 0x100 [ 0x00 - 0x649f20 ]
ERROR: Did not find a cmdline Flattened Device Tree

To fix the uboot error, you have to change the config.txt lines:
# set extended DT area
#device_tree_address=0x100
#device_tree_end=0x8000
device_tree_address=0x02008000

I changed the device_tree_address and commented out the device_tree_end.
The address is the same that was changed in the file /usr/share/flash-
kernel/bootscript/bootscr.rpi3 from flash-kernel package from ppa
::ubuntu-raspi2/ppa-rpi3

With this changes made to config.txt I did the apt-get dist-upgrade to
get the latest kernel (version 1040) and rebooted. The rpi3 started
without any problems, running kernel 1040!

maybe Ryan can add some script magic to the flash-kernel package to
change the config.txt during the update?

[Bug 1647199] Re: ELAN touchpad acts as generic mouse after firmware update

2017-01-29 Thread FB
@jkusa, not yet.

However, I did a bit of work today in an attempt to contrast a working
with a broken version (eg: old vs new keyboard/trackpad firmware),
however it doesn't appear to be possible to downgrade the firmware due
to lack of an image.

After a bit of digging, I was able to find an example of a dmesg output
of a working trackpad (with trackpad features) vs not (see attached).

The USB productId does indeed change from 6084 to 60A2 after the
firmware upgrade.

The key difference appears to be the following line:
---
[ 1002.906583] hid-generic 0003:17EF:60A2.0008: input,hiddev0,hidraw1: USB HID
v1.10 Device [Lenovo ideapad MIIX 700 USB keyboard] on usb-:00:14.0-7/input1
---

Where it appears the input which is normally detected as a "v1.10 Mouse"
is instead detected as a "v1.10 Device".

[Bug 1657938] Re: package mysql-server-5.7 5.7.17-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2017-01-29 Thread Hristian
Hello, again. I am not sure how to edit my previous comment.

So, this is a continuation of my previous comment.

After reading the comment from Riccardo (riccardo-cicuto), I
copied/corrected his misspelled command line. And afterwards the upgrade
worked OK. Thank you, Riccardo (riccardo-cicuto).

sudo cp /etc/mysql/myslq.cnf /etc/mysql/my.cnf.fallback

corrected to
sudo cp /etc/mysql/mysql.cnf /etc/mysql/my.cnf.fallback

[Bug 1657938] Re: package mysql-server-5.7 5.7.17-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2017-01-29 Thread Hristian
I have the same problem. On sudo apt upgrade, I get error, "Setting up
mysql-common (5.7.17-0ubuntu0.16.04.1) ...
update-alternatives: error: alternative path /etc/mysql/my.cnf.fallback doesn't
exist
dpkg: error processing package mysql-common (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
Errors were encountered while processing:
 mysql-common
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)"

I do not even know what to do now.

Should I uninstall all mysql stuff? There are some many dependencies
between different mysql packages, I do not even know with which one to
start.

And the upgrade process will always give errors, even when I will have
new upgrades in the near future. Crap. :(

[Bug 1607169] Re: Youtube Videos in Video Scope are not working

2017-01-29 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Sorry that this doesn’t work for you André. Can you please describe in details
what you’re observing? Do I understand correctly that when in the video scope,
tapping on one video won’t even open the preview with the description? Or does
it open but then the browser fails to open/play it?
If the former, this sounds like a problem in the video scope itself.

Re: [Bug 1659907] Re: No visible network greyed out

2017-01-29 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
I guess this happens because the NIC is down and so you can't scan for
networks. Need to up the NIC first (I already do this when console-conf
starts so it shouldn't be too hard).
