Re: [Bug 1592669] Re: postinst fails when daemon is not running (or is disabled by policy-rc.d)
There are two separate "upgrades" happening: Upgrading the package and upgrading the database. The problem is that right now the former will fail if the latter fails, but it doesn't need to. I have a solution (still needs some more testing, but hopefully it will be ready soon) that: a) Tries to run the server directly instead of through the service system, so it should work normally if the service is disabled as long as the server isn't already running (since then we can't stop it). b) Completes the package upgrade even if the server can't be started, but without running mysql_upgrade. -- Lars On 04/29/2017 09:51 AM, Ben Landin wrote: > During an upgrade, there are queries that need to be run against the > server, which means the mysql service must be running. > > On Apr 29, 2017 3:04 AM, "Pablo Catalina" > wrote: > > But, why the service has to be enabled to upgrade it? > > El 29/4/2017 5:34, "Jordao" escribió: > >> That's ok, but I guess a better approach would be delaying upgrade (no >> install) if service is disabled or doing these steps automatically because >> it can be very annoying and could mess something up. >> The first option should be a bit easier to implement. >> >> 2017-04-28 17:08 GMT-03:00 Larika <1592...@bugs.launchpad.net>: >> >>> sudo systemctl enable mysql >>> sudo systemctl start mysql >>> sudo apt install -f >>> >>> Upgrade process completed successfully. :) >>> >>> -- >>> You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to a >>> duplicate bug report (1658034). >>> https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__bugs.launchpad.net_bugs_1592669&d=DwIFaQ&c=RoP1YumCXCgaWHvlZYR8PQcxBKCX5YTpkKY057SbK10&r=HPjEzLhETPj8fl9HCxxISaaV3f5tXDpGXDR3R2IELxg&m=PdAlVtFEw3yL55hI32gYfa72qnbSSi8VrBBgpGOqV9A&s=J_Ik4Rb7XaAgBURNKto_54-iFFIwX9Bopkj5F3xbY4I&e= >>> >>> Title: >>>postinst fails when daemon is not running (or is disabled by policy- >>>rc.d) >>> >>> To manage notifications about this bug go to: >>> https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__bugs.launchpad.net_ubuntu_-2Bsource_mysql-2D5.7_-2Bbug_&d=DwIFaQ&c=RoP1YumCXCgaWHvlZYR8PQcxBKCX5YTpkKY057SbK10&r=HPjEzLhETPj8fl9HCxxISaaV3f5tXDpGXDR3R2IELxg&m=PdAlVtFEw3yL55hI32gYfa72qnbSSi8VrBBgpGOqV9A&s=4q_iH3iF49qeYu7uFbOKBQC9aiQxFqWA8Ek4Yqf3Ay4&e= >>> 1592669/+subscriptions >>> >> -- >> You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to a >> duplicate bug report (1595208). >> https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__bugs.launchpad.net_bugs_1592669&d=DwIFaQ&c=RoP1YumCXCgaWHvlZYR8PQcxBKCX5YTpkKY057SbK10&r=HPjEzLhETPj8fl9HCxxISaaV3f5tXDpGXDR3R2IELxg&m=PdAlVtFEw3yL55hI32gYfa72qnbSSi8VrBBgpGOqV9A&s=J_Ik4Rb7XaAgBURNKto_54-iFFIwX9Bopkj5F3xbY4I&e= >> >> Title: >>postinst fails when daemon is not running (or is disabled by policy- >>rc.d) >> >> Status in mysql-5.7 package in Ubuntu: >>In Progress >> Status in mysql-5.7 package in Debian: >>New >> >> Bug description: >>Every 10-15 minutes mysql crashes with this error. >> >>ProblemType: Package >>DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 >>Package: mysql-server-5.7 5.7.12-0ubuntu1 >>ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-24.43-generic 4.4.10 >>Uname: Linux 4.4.0-24-generic x86_64 >>ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.1 >>Architecture: amd64 >>Date: Fri Jun 10 10:47:34 2016 >>ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned >> error exit status 1 >>InstallationDate: Installed on 2002-01-01 (5279 days ago) >>InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 >> (20140722.2) >>Logs.var.log.daemon.log: >> >>Logs.var.log.mysql.error.log: >>MySQLConf.etc.mysql.conf.d.mysql.cnf: [mysql] >>MySQLConf.etc.mysql.conf.d.mysqld_safe_syslog.cnf: >> [mysqld_safe] >> syslog >>MySQLConf.etc.mysql.conf.d.mysqldump.cnf: >> [mysqldump] >> quick >> quote-names >> max_allowed_packet = 16M >>MySQLConf.etc.mysql.mysql.conf.d.mysqld_safe_syslog.cnf: >> [mysqld_safe] >> syslog >>MySQLVarLibDirListing: ['joomla', 'debian-5.7.flag', >> 'performance_schema', 'mysql', 'debian-5.5.flag', 'ibdata1', > 'ib_logfile1', >> 'mysql_upgrade_info', 'ibtmp1', 'auto.cnf', 'sys', 'ib_logfile0', >> 'ib_buffer_pool'] >>ProcCmdline: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.4.0-24-generic >> root=UUID=24616351-e938-44c6-b79f-5db042b2563b ro quiet splash >> vt.handoff=7 >>RelatedPackageVersions: >> dpkg 1.18.4ubuntu1.1 >> apt 1.2.12~ubuntu16.04.1 >>SourcePackage: mysql-5.7 >>Title: package mysql-server-5.7 5.7.12-0ubuntu1 failed to >> install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned >> error exit status 1 >>UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to xenial on 2016-06-10 (4 days ago) >>upstart.mysql.override: manual >> >> To manage notifications about this bug go to: >> https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__bugs.launchpad.net_ubuntu_-2Bsource_mysql-2D5.7_-2Bbug_&d=DwIFaQ&c=RoP1YumCXCgaWHvlZYR8PQcxBKCX5YTpkKY057Sb

[Bug 1679823] Re: bond0: Invalid MTU 9000 requested, hw max 1500 with kernel 4.10 (or 4.8.0-49)
@jsalisbury: I figured it out... We're talking about two issues here. The first one is unable to set MTU larger than 1500 on some devices. Commit e84f31d (yakkety), "net: centralize net_device min/max MTU checking", introduced net_device.min_mtu and net_device.max_mtu. These values will be checked before net_device_ops.ndo_change_mtu(). Then the second commit 04db90d (yakkety) set the default value of min_mtu to ETH_MIN_MTU(68) and max_mtu to ETH_DATA_LEN(1500), removed *most* of the ndo_change_mtu() callback, and initialize min_mtu/max_mtu in each driver if it should be something different than the default values. Here I say most because intel drivers are not modified by this commit. Intel drivers are handled by commit 91c527a5. My e1000e works properly after this commit is merged. For bonding devices it's commit 31c0541. The second issue is it shows "Invalid MTU 9000 requested, hw max 68" instead of "Invalid MTU 9000 requested, hw max 1500". This is a typo in commit 04db90d and can be fixed by commit a0e65de. [Bug 1686768] Re: Restricted contacts can see servers that do not belong to them
Hi Aaron, yeah this will be needed throughout all releases with affected versions. We can't just pick a few or an upgrade e.g. from Xenial to Yakkety would be a regression. The first step is to push it to Artful and for that it is fine already. A backport seems possible, just someone needs the cycles to do so. I understand you marked it as security which is correct, but not as in needs to be done yesterday. That said it will compete with the other bugs in the queue to be handled. If you would want to volunteer to help with that there are a few things to do here. First of all we need a proper SRU Template [1] at the top of the description - and especially some detailed steps how to test and verify would help the SRU process int this case. Furthermore we founded the Ubuntu Server Bug Squashing Day [2], and if instead of waiting you always wanted to learn to package such fixes to drive this even more - feel free to catch us there (or at any time in general). [Bug 1555258] Re: Request contained command arguments
I feel like this would be acceptable, from a security standpoint, to enable at build time. It would be disabled by default and upstream makes it clear that it should only be enabled if you know what you're doing: https://github.com/NagiosEnterprises/nrpe/blob/master/SECURITY.md #command-arguments After reading bug reports and comments on social media, I have to assume that there are users out there that know what they're doing and depend on this feature. If this feature is enabled in an SRU, the upload must include the fix for CVE-2013-1362: https://github.com/NagiosEnterprises/nrpe/commit/5bf9b2047f8e9a8609c3b95b2e655368765e4dd1 There's no need to take this change through the security pocket since the current package is not vulnerable to CVE-2013-1362. It can take the normal SRU route directly to the updates pocket. ** CVE added: http://www.cve.mitre.org/cgi- bin/cvename.cgi?name=2013-1362 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1555258 Title: Request contained command arguments To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nagios-nrpe/+bug/1555258/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1687506] [NEW] When first started, GIMP's Layer Dock was almost completely off screen to the right
Public bug reported: The following bug was reported at: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=781803 I just installed the latest Lubuntu (17.04) and installed the latest standard GIMP in my repositories (2.8.20-1). The Layers/Channels/Paths/Undo/Brushes/Patterns/Gradients combined dock ( Whew! - is there a shorter name for this initially standard opening combo dock?) was so far to the right on my screen that I had to snag it with Alt-Drag (see screenshot). I am using the proprietary NVidia 304 package (which I have been automatically installing since (so far) Nouveau always manages to crash something I try to use; I have not actually tried it yet with the new Lubuntu, I suppose I ought to try one day...), and my monitor is set to a resolution of 1792x1344 (where DO they get these wierd coordinates?) Since GIMP remembers window placement between sessions, and I moved the window/dock so that it was entirely visible, this is obviously no longer a problem, but it would look bad for a new user of GIMP, and not everyone knows about Alt-Drag to lasso straying windows... - scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AMPLUS:~$ uname -a Linux scott-ASUS-M2N68-AMPLUS 4.10.0-19-generic #21-Ubuntu SMP Thu Apr 6 17:04:57 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AMPLUS:~$ lsb_release -dsc Ubuntu 17.04 zesty scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AMPLUS:~$ echo $DESKTOP_SESSION Lubuntu scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AMPLUS:~$ gimp --version GNU Image Manipulation Program version 2.8.20 --- If there is any other info that would help, let me know... -Scott === " Michael Schumacher [GIMP developer] " was curious if this was a Lubuntu- or Ubuntu-only bug, as he had not encountered it.
