Re: [Bug 1970957] Re: suspend problem

2022-05-25 Thread lauricat
On my X1 Carbon 10th Gen, I can confirm my 'sleep state' in UEFI/BIOS is
set to "Linux" - as per lenovo's instructions, and I use Xorg exlsuively
- via Ubuntu Mate.

I can confirm that this mitigates the problem, but still occurs
occasionally.

Date: Wednesday, 25 May 2022 8:33 PM

On my X1 Carbon I seem to have solved the issue by:
1. changing the BIOS so the Sleep State is in mode "Linux" as opposed to
"Windows and Linux"
2. using Xorg instead of Wayland. -> When you log in, before inserting the
password, click on the cog on the bottom right and choose the "Ubuntu on Xorg"
option.

YMMV, but since I lost a day I wrote my solution here in case it helps
someone.

Title:
  suspend problem

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I've installed Ubuntu 22.04 on the ThinkPad E480. Suspend functions ok
intermittently. Some times it works fine, other times the computer
does not enter the suspend mode (the screen gets blank, but the
machine is still running and the ThinPad led is on, and there is no
way out... no response from keyboard or mouse... the only solution is
to switch off manually hitting and holding the power button), other
times the machine does not wakes up from suspension mode.

[Bug 1574347] Re: [SRU] Re-read the link type if the name changed

2016-09-30 Thread lauricat
I can report I'm running 16.04.1, AND the latest stable kernel 4.7.4.

Same problem exists.

x220, Intel 6205 wifi.

Surely Ubuntu must be aware of this massive problem?

[Bug 1589401] Re: cannot view wifi networks after re-enabling wifi

2016-08-04 Thread lauricat

Mikko:

I have installed the new network-manager-gnome 1.2.2 as suggested, as
well as [last week] the latest stable kernel - 4.6.3

So after a dozen suspend-resume cycles I can report so far so good!

But no willing to say fixed until I give it some more time, say a week
of normal use.

Yes - I have also noticed a reduction in start up time.
*

Further to this post I made, I have to retract that statement to say the
fault still occurs.

I have doing a fair bit of my own testing with this bug - whether this
assists or not with a fix not sure, but here are my obseravtions.

Lenevo x220, latest iwlwifi driver [18.168.6.1], Ubuntu 16.04.1 (clean
install), latest stable kernel 4.6.5, and latest Network manager
1.2.2-0ubuntu6.

I can report the following:

After Suspend then resume, fault still occurs. Also see nmcli below,
output of Nm icon is the 2 vertical arrows (not the wifi symbol) and NO
WIFI NETWORKS LISTED - but connected to wifi:

xxx@xxx-ThinkPad-X220:~$ nmcli dev
DEVICE TYPE STATE CONNECTION
wlp3s0 wifi connected L 1
enp0s25 ethernet unavailable --
lo loopback unmanaged --
xxx@xxx-ThinkPad-X220:~$

Also, Subsequent to installing 16.04.1, I tried a clean install of 16.10
Yaketty Yak. Alpha 1

Only 5 days of testing, but many suspend-resume cycles over the course
of a normal work day.

I can report that the problem appeared to not appear with this config!

I had to then subsequently go back to 16.04.1, as the Alpha 1 build was too
unstable for my usage.
HTH

Cheers...

[Bug 1380480] Re: network disabled after suspend - resume

2016-05-24 Thread lauricat
Please note this fix (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-
manager/+bug/1380480/comments/9) NO LONGER works for me - from yesterday
- after a month or so or working absolutely perfectly fine. (X220 Lenevo
Laptop, 16.04 MATE edition.) ie. back to the same problem of NOT
indicating Networks available on Resume, and connecting to Wireless
showing connected to an unknown network via ethernet connected symbol.

I suspect it broke yesterday after a rather larger system update that
was pushed out yesterday. Could others please check if the same happens
to their system - that have used this workaround?

Thanks.

[Waiting patiently for a fix]

[Bug 1380480] Re: network disabled after suspend - resume

2016-04-30 Thread lauricat
Can confirm same here, clean 16.04 MATE install. Latest intel iwlwifi
driver for c6205 wifi card.

Network list not refreshing after resume from suspend, but reconnects to
WiFi Network previously connected. (laptop not moved to new location -
hence same network present, but not listed.)

Disabling and re-enabling WiFi does nothing.

Disabling and re-enabling WiFi H/W switch does nothing.

Disabling and re-enabling Networking does nothing.

Tests include going back - clean install - to 14.04.2 MATE and fault
non-existent. So I can eliminate H/W issues.

Work around for me that works:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/761180/wifi-doesnt-work-after-suspend-
after-16-04-upgrade

I have used script, and automated it, as mentioned here and confirms it
works for me.

On my research this problem is very widespread and was mentioned in
latest Linux Action Show:

http://www.jupiterbroadcasting.com/99036/linuxfest-
northwest-2016-las-414/ [see 26:19]

[Bug 1448555] Re: network-manager does not autoconnect to wifi network after resume from suspend

2016-04-27 Thread lauricat
I have this bug as well in a clean MATE 16.04 install.

x220, Intel 6205 wireless . Using the firmware iwlwifi 18.168.6.1

Various things like #12 sudo iwlist wlan0 scan - does not work for me.

Also disabling Wireless and/or networking via Network Manager - and re-
enabling does nothing.

Nor does using hardware on/off/on for wifi make a difference.

Rebooting fixes it.

I have tried this fix

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1984317=3

[which is a seperate fix for the Intel Wireless hardware flaky WiFi
connection - not related I feel]

Subsequently I have gone back to 14.04 MATE and works perfectly!

Is this a systemd issue perhaps?
