In AutoKey script is done in Python, but phrases can be made directly. Just enter the ”π” in the big text field and select ”Clipboard (Ctrl+V)” in ”Paste using” (for characters that are not on the keyboard by default). Re: [libreoffice-users] Insert Special Characters
This portable freeware does the job: https://www.azhagi.com/ (In case of link problems, that is https: followed by www.azhagi.com ) It enables you to type text in almost any language (or combination of languages) into almost any application. It's harmless and self-contained: it doesn't change any settings in the system or in any application. It only affects the keyboard, and only when you explicitly turn it on. <https://www.azhagi.com/alec.php> The software was originally created to handle languages of the Indian subcontinent, but some linguaholic übernerd added keyboard mappings for lots of other languages, here: https://www.azhagi.com/alec.php (In case of link problems, that is https: followed by www.azhagi.com<http://www.azhagi.com/>/alec.php ) Without needing to click anything, you can type pretty much all the Latin-alphabet languages with a single keyboard layout. (Sic.) The layout is designed to be easy to remember, so you won't need a crib sheet after the first couple of times. For example, once you've learned how to add an acute accent to a letter, you can use the same key-presses to add an acute accent to any letter, in any language, that can take an acute accent, e.g.: á É ń Ś ẃ Ĺ ź ǽ etc. Best wishes, Alec From: Johnny Rosenberg Sent: 30 April 2023 18:02 To: users@global.libreoffice.org Subject: Re: [libreoffice-users] Insert Special Characters Den sön 30 apr. 2023 kl 19:08 skrev Jonathan Allen < jonat...@barumtrading.co.uk>: > Dear Harald, > > > I think they changed it to make it easier. > > >Double-click on a special character will insert it into the document.< > > Yes, I read that. [libreoffice-users] insert special characters
Good morning At home I am using LibreOffice 6.0.5.2 (Windows 10) In my office I use a little older version (not sure about that version number). In the office I do: Alt+P -> open special character dialog -> select a character -> Enter When I repeat this operation a little later and want to use the SAME character, it used to be selected already and all I had to do was press Enter. At home this does not work any more. I have to repeat to entire procedure: Alt+P -> open special character dialog -> select a character -> Enter. Is this an "improvement" (of obscure meaning) I have to live with, or is there a trick that would give me the functionality I am enjoying in my office? Thank you. [libreoffice-users] Insert > Special Characters
Running LO Still on WS 2k12 in a thin client, multi user environment without Java. Upgraded to LO 5.1.6.2 and almost immediately noticed that Writer would shut down "LibreOffice - Fatal Error" if I attempted to open the Special Character dialogue from the menu. If i tried opening it from the toolbar LO would freeze, to the point where task manager needs to be used to shut it down. * Swapped out my "User Profile", no change. * Tried as other users, same issue. Last night I rolled back to 5.0.4.2 and tested it as Administrator. Special Characters worked with no issues from a thin client. I always do updates and rollbacks in Admin "change user /install" mode from a thin client. I logged in this morning on my normal user account started 5.0.4.2 and still have the same crash issue. I can't remember when i last used special characters but it would have been on 5.0.4.2 before the update to 5.1.6.2. I generally update quarterly between school terms so 5.0.4.2 would have been running since September - October. I just retested and it works as admin but not any other user. I will leave this up 2 days for suggestions before writing a bugzilla report. -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: users+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
