I don't have a braille display. The audio books from bookshare aren't human read. RE: voice dream or read 2 go?
Hi Caitlyn, If it's one or the other, to me it's Voice Dream, hands down. I have used the Read2go app ever sense it came out (I got it the day it was released). One thing that I didn't like about it was the lack of flexibility in navigation. With Voice Dream, you can move by adjustable time increment, page, or heading. You can go to page or go to percent. You have many many voices that you can download for two or three dollars (depending on which voice). You can put VO focus in the text window and move by character, word, or line. You can search the text. You can download directly from BookShare as well as several other sources. You can read PDF files directly, without having to export the text first. It has Drop Box integration so you can very easily copy files to the app that you can't directly download. I like it so much that I have started using it for all of my reading of text content. I recently bought a second generation VR Stream, primarily for the Acapela voices, but I like this app so much that I just sold the Stream. Also, I don't know if anyone else has experienced this problem but, starting with the Read2go update last September, it started to frequently pause when reading in some books, about every cupple scentences. The pause was just a second or so but was very annoying. I have not had this problem with Voice Dream. RE: voice dream or read 2 go?
I do agree that Voice Dream has a far more advanced set of features. There is very little that app won't do in regards to reading any kind of document. However, I still use Read2Go more often, for one reason. I really don't like the Acapella or NeoSpeech voices. I vastly prefer to read text files with Samantha. I know, this puts me in the minority, but you know what they say about opinions. *Smile!* So it depends on your personal preference. If you enjoy reading with Acapella or NeoSpeech voices, Voice Dream is definitely the way to go. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Brett Sent: Tuesday, July 02, 2013 5:07 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: voice dream or read 2 go? Hi, Just one person's opinion, but it's VoiceDream for me. VoiceDream Is a little cheaper, has many more voice options and the voices are much clearer when sped up. VoiceDream Also supports many more file types, such as Word documents, text files, PDF and more. The only thing that read2go can do that VoiceDream Does not, is read audio only daisy books. Re: voice dream or read 2 go?
thanks Brett. that's interesting about the audio only files. I didn't think bookshare even had those. Intersting. Re: voice dream or read 2 go?
Hi, Just one person's opinion, but it's VoiceDream for me. VoiceDream Is a little cheaper, has many more voice options and the voices are much clearer when sped up. VoiceDream Also supports many more file types, such as Word documents, text files, PDF and more. The only thing that read2go can do that VoiceDream Does not, is read audio only daisy books.
