https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30389 --- Comment #26 from Phil Chang 2012-05-23 02:18:18 UTC --- If the search field is above the main projects, the list of languages would be above the fold. We do have country-specific landing pages working in Zero. This does not require device detection but it does require identification of country by IP address, which, again, is already working. However, this media query approach is still an improvement over what happens currently on the portal page. It could be worth trying. The only question is if the users affected would be confused if we switched to the country-specific approach later. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. This happened before OATHAuth. Did you try running that more than once? OATHAuth will only cause auth to fail if OAUTHAuth is enabled and verified for an account. Nothing in the authentication chain causes this to occur, you can only do so via the special page. In fact, I just ran that command again, and it went through fine. What? You've lost me (and everyone else, I think). Timeline: * www.wikipedia.org exists * Jon write news code for it * Feedback loop and updated code * Tomasz says "let's not present the long list of languages at all" * Casey says "that's a separate bug and Jon's code is an improvement, so let's implement it for now" * Tomasz says "maybe, but I'd like to see a mockup first" What are you talking about? A mockup of what? Anyway, back to this bug, I'm in agreement with Casey. That's stupid cause even if you > put > the DB on the fastest drive on the Earth, it will still suck because SQLite > had > never been intended for any serious level of concurrency, and it's not a bug > but a design decision. The concurrency limitations are probably dealt with by the fact that we shard the containers for the large wikis. This also mitigates the B-tree index update slowness (proportional to the no. of items in the container object list table). Since the container service and object service are running on the same boxes (and the later gets used way more and on way more data), no DB files can stay in the page cache. The random seeks can't be well handled by SATA drives. Asher also floating trying some hacks with http://www.kernel.org/doc/man-pages/online/pages/man2/posix_fadvise.2.html for the sake of investigation. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

It seems to me like the license chooser uses radio buttons, so If someone is going to delve into this, Purodha is correct, mwe-upwiz-source-thirdparty-license needs to use the {{PLURAL}} syntax for the number of licenses, and it's probably getting used at around line 382 of resources/mw.UploadWizardDeed.js, near the top of the declaration of mw.UploadWizardDeedChooser. The line looks like "gM( 'mwe-upwiz-source-' + deed.name, _this.uploads.length )" right now. See also attached mockups. "The proposed changes to match the size of the left-menu and increase the line height for post content are indicated at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/30377416/prototypes/feedback-tool/article-feedback/font-adjustments.png The most relevant changes are that (a) I modified the body text to 0.75em (the default in Wikipedia) and (b) increased the line length for post content. I include a comparison of large comments (where line-height can be appreciated). These are independent changes, so if you prefer bigger text for the post we can still increase the line height to increase readability. ... It should be taken into account that the em measures are affected by the parent elements of each node. For example, if I include a 2em element into a 0.5em container, the resulting font size is equivalent to 1em. In the prototype the body font size has been set to 0.8em, and this implies that a 20% reduction will be applied to any other em-based measure in the document. For example, the sub-title "250 feedback posts on this article" that is set to 1.2em instead of being translated to 19px (as stated in the spec), is translated to 18px due to the body font reduction. This difference is not a big issue (just one pixel in this case), but it should be made clear in the specification whether these ems should be computed considering the body font size reduction or not. At the moment I have indicated the specific em to be applied to each final element including the resulting size in pixels. But I want to be sure that this is the way that best helps developers before we indicate sizes for each single element." -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 30716] TOR block not working anymore
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30716 --- Comment #11 from Chris Steipp 2012-05-22 16:53:19 UTC --- Oh, I was referring to this: "Previous DNSELs scraped Tor's network directory for exit node IP addresses, but this method fails to list nodes that don't advertise their exit address in the directory. TorDNSEL actively tests through these nodes to provide a more accurate list." [1] Since users have know about servers they route through, any unlisted node would have a somewhat limited userbase, so I'm not sure if we need to be as concerned about them for spam. But if we really want to catch them all, we would need to do a dns lookup for each connecting ip. Is it possible to confirm that the list is being updated for enwiki, and billinghurst's problems are not related/current? If that's the case, I think this ticket can either be closed, or turned into a feature request for making the extension use the dns method.
