hi all,
a general question ...
i've clamd 0.87 running on the same box (OSX 10.4.2) as its caller (currently,
Exim 4.53RC1's Exiscan).
my clamd listener options are:
(1) clamd local unix socket
(2) clamd on 127.0.0.1
(3) clamd on 10.0.0.6 (-- LAN ip)
what's the general reasoning
frank,

It looks like you have installed different versions of clamav in /usr and
/usr/local
oops. missed that, sorry ... nice catch.

hi damian,
thx 4 the reply =)
I haven't seen that, and have confirmed that the DNS TXT record for
current.cvd.clamav.net is correctly set at 0.86.2.
Try running freshclam again and see if you still get the warning. If you do,
check your DNS -- you might be getting stale data. It's possible

i can verify that Masaki's patch (removing the check for resolv.h) does the trick and

hi,
for those interested, here are my unadorned, somewhat dusty, 'from scratch' install
notes for clamav.
for me, works great on OSX 10.3.5.

when you specify the ./ it means here
when you leave it off, you're selecting the one in the default path ... and it looks
like you've got an older version lying around.
try:

is clamd running as a user that has permission for the /var/run?
if not, rather than messing /var/run up, try pointing at a 'dedicated' /tmp/clamd
instead, with permissions for that user/group ...

just re-checked,

you'll need to do exactly what the error suggests:
