With "idle" I/O scheduler class (set with ionice) does it still have
a big performance impact?

Unfortunately google wasn't really helpful (at least for "dl180 g6
debian", "p212 debian" and similar phrases).

Yes, I know I could switch to a fully amd64 desktop, yet it's a
not-as-easy-as-it-looks and time-consuming process.

I love debian for its simplicity in installing / upgrading /
configuring and fantastic package management tool "apt". It really
makes sys admin life easier .Thanks for that , guysOn 9/22/06, José Alburquerque <[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi all,I set up raid 1 during installing system with
kernel 2.4.27-2, then i used mdadm to create mdadm.conf file . my hard
drives was detected as /dev/hdc[1-9] /dev/hde[1-9] because the kernel
was missing proper drivers , so then i compiled new kernel 2.6.16 and
drives changed their names to /dev/

I like this idea and I'm a newbie...:-)) There should be of course always
a help screen available, describing (not just with one phrase) what the
selected application is used for, because it is not always so obvious,
only by just looking at the name. The current dselect description is
not not that informative about all applications, and when U never used
Unix/Linux before it's more confusing and U are not sure if the application
is needed or not??

It was very picky about me:-)))

W other so called OS can do it too...more or less...:-))) Maybe someone
is currently working on an installation routine like this and I think it
would make debian more user friendly and debian would gain more users
