working fine in Feisty I had it turned off in xorg.con. Upgrading to
Gutsy does not reset this. So just turning it back on in xorg.conf

Thanks for you report, that's like a gtk+ issue. In gedit you can use
ctrl+alt+pgUp/pgDown for switching tabs. Re assigning to gtk+ for now.

Since you solve your problem with the re-installation of the related packages,
it seems that for some reason you has some misconfiguration or not correctly
installed programs at the time of the report, so i'm marking this bug as
invalid.

I personally think the importance of this bug should be greater than
"low". This is (IMO) an extremely serious regression/loss of
functionality and deserves to be fixed via a patch in Gutsy. The fix
has been released in Evo 2.12.1. I don't know if there are any plans to

I fixed the problem by doing:
apt-get remove hal
and then apt-get install everything that got removed.
Must have been some weird configuration of hal.
