It seems like I might have the same problem. Whenever I type something,
let's say 'Documnts'. And because it's misspelled I hit backspace to
correct it, but then Deskbar freezes.
Similarly, I have to kill deskbar-applet to make it reload. One other
thing is that when I move the cursor over the inp
Pretty much reproducible. Nothing specific is required - just insert the
disk, unmount it from computer location and push eject button to see
that nothing happens. Additional annoyance is that unmount requires
authorization. Anything else I can turn on to debug this misbehaviour?

Ok, I will do that. I am currently working on a redo of the xml help
file (for yelp) for gtkpod, and maybe g-p-m will let me re-do theirs. I
believe help files need to be up-to-date before Ubuntu can truly be
"ready for the desktop" and don't mind lending a hand.

this only happens with visual effects enabled, so it seems to be a
Compiz issue. When disabling visual effects, everything works fine.

import failure in Rhythmbox, but things seem OK with the tags and

Steps:
-create a new main folder with name 'test1'
-in folder 'test1' create subfolder 'test2'
-move some messages e.g. from the 'removed messages' folder into folder
'test1'
-move a message from folder 'test1' into folder 'test2'
-renam
By the way it seems like lots of users have an empty but visible
~/Templates these days. It would be nice if nautilus explained what
that's for when you browse inside it to at least give a clue in that
context.

I hate to have to decide between shutdown entries in the system menu and using
the FUSA. It just had to be be done again as I installed Jaunty for a friend.
She expected to be able to shutdown by menu and couldn't figure out how to do
it on her own. She does switch accounts for the family occasi
i was resolved this.
system -> preference -> startup applications -> deselect metacity.
then my cpu usage down to 1 %

We've implemented this in GNOME Do/Docky as well, but to deal with
laptop touch pads that can be overly sensitive we've done some smoothing
so that you can't make it freak out. Maybe we should do the same for
gnome panel?
