Binary package hint: evolution
I frequently drag n drop emails to the desktop and found the following
problems.
First problem is that there is no association between the dropped email
file and the evolution mail reader.
The second problem I found with the drag n drop proces
I have since positivily confirmed that the issue was dropbox. I uninstalled the
application and the problem went away.
I had started to roll the package out and found it to not work over a samba
drives on the network using nautilus mounted drives.

I have left messages on the dropbox forum indicating the problems with dropbox
and ubuntu.
Please note that dropbox is a closed source application so Ubuntu is

The change in gdmsetup has created a serious bug in 9.10 that was not
present in 9.04.
Basically when I did an upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10 instead of having the ubuntu
login I ended up with the xubuntu login screen.
Now since the gdmsetup has changed there is no way to correct the problem.

On a simple drag n drop from the desktop to nautilus the desktop disappears.
What I mean by disappears is all the icons disappear.
This is a recent problem and I have noticed it over a number of computers
running 9.04 gnome.

I checked the directories that you have mentioned Sebastien and found no crash
reports.
I have activated apport by setting the value to 1
I can reproduce the desktop crash consistently. I also have some clean
machines and will see if the crash occurs on those machines.

Running the Ubuntu desktop 9.04. Alpha 5 all update till this date.
Simply trying to run any media file causes Ubuntu to go to login screen.
I have not seen this bug in 8.10 so I would call this a regression.

When a NAS such as FreeNAS is used and ubuntu mounts a drive via a samba
share, Ubuntu mounts and accesses the drive correctly. While activity
is occuring the connection seems to be reliable.

I think Totem fails to identify that the codec is missing, or the codec
is broken. In any case the mpg file fails to play.
I have noted that a number of movie files types suffer from this
problem.
If it is a codec problem may I suggest that totem have a manual button
added, called "search codec"
I have added VLC from th repository and found that it will play the
above mpg correctly. I knew the file was ok because I tested again under
windows but I thought I'd better prove the file could be loaded and
played in Ubuntu also.

tried to recreate this bug and found that it no longer appears in the
Beta.
