There is a setting that might prevent you from seeing older transactions
once you've entered them.
When you have a register open, use the View menu

If it was set to a date range that excludes an old transaction date, it
would be possible for a newly entered old transa
Hello
I apologize for my poor English.
I use GnuCash since 2011 and usually I am able to solve this kind of
problem by myself if necessary modifing the perl files of Finance::Quote.
But now I'm going crazy with this problem.
I've got this error since february 14 on two different PC with Ubuntu 1
Ken,
You have obviously devoted a significant amount of time to the entire
process needed to track EE bonds in GnuCash and I think that it would be
nice to document your work in a way that other users could find it and
benefit from it.
I am not a developer nor do I know the best place in the WIKI
Start by reading the Tutorial and the Help Manual. Once you have created a
chart of accounts you just open the register for whichever account you want
to enter a transaction into, type any date into the date box and go from
there.

David,
I'm not sure which item you're referring to, so I'll say a bit about each:
(1) As far as I can figure, if I want to add a quote source, like US EE/E/I
savings bonds, I have to write my own Perl code to get it done. The existing
Finance::Quote modules just don't work, or at least not when I t
Hello Team,
I downloaded Gnucash on 17th and tried to record transactions from last
year. However I found that the system does not show any date before
YESTERDAY, 17TH February 2018.
My requirement is to record transaction from July 2017 and update upto now
and use it then

Thanks for this information.
Would it be possible to either add a note about how this is done to the
appropriate section of the FAQ or to file a bug report to enhance the
program to do this without editing Perl code?

Yeah, I've found that one of the philosophical differences in how to track
these things seems to be that some accounting systems want you to put the
bonds in as a share-per-USD relationship. And, since there is no actual
universal "symbol" for EE or other bonds of the type, there are lots of

Thank you so much! This worked great.
For the record, I:
* Saved the file to ~/perl5/lib/perl5/Finance/Quote/
* Edited ~/perl5/lib/perl5/Finance/Quote.pm to add USFedBonds to the
Modules section around Line 180.
The one thing I'll have to change is that up to now, I've been holding the

Welcome to Gnucash.
I've not been on a similar journey - I "do the books" for a not-for-profit
organisation, and our Gnucash file is audited annually for compliance. I'm
an IT nerd not an accountant, but I found Gnucash easy enough to use once I
got comfortable with the basic accounting concepts.

I recently had a stock that owned a significant part of a rather new

explain how to do this in GC?
Thanks,

I live in Mexico so when my tech works on my computer he changes the

Being brand new to the list, I don't know whether it's customary to
introduce oneself. But how I got here is perhaps a little unusual, and
might be of interest to some of you.

Yet maybe another reason to end the absurd daylight saving time which
