How about developing on KicksForTso and leave conversion to a more
modern compiler to the user? DogeCoin app was developed that way.

There was a post within the past year about FTP being slow.
It came down to reverse DNS lookups I think.
Just something to look up perhaps.

What happened?
DOS/360, DOS/VS, DOS/VSE, OS/VS2 and VM/370 are all free, so there shouldn't
have been an issue unless they sent, e.g., MVS/SE, VM/BSE, VSE/AF.

I wonder if we will be able to make connections with each other's systems

Thanks for the input.
Actually now I was totally able to customize all my dataset names, which is
really great. It is time consuming because I basically had to change
everything.. My dlibs are on a dedicated volume and my RES datasets on another
volume.
Then they changed all the ZFS dataset na

Hi list,
Was I the only one caught flat-footed with the IBM announcement today that in
just over 4 months (2/28/2022), they're dropping support on TS1140 tape
transports? Was there an earlier announcement that this was coming and I just
missed it or was this the first notification?
Yeah, remember what happened when one of the original Hercules group requested
the tapes for MVS/370, DOS, and VM/370. Nobody at IBM checked to determine if
that was OK, and the tapes were sent. Afterwards, the hammer came down.

Probably because until it's been available and IBM's lawyers have had a chance

The problem is that the quoted prose is ambiguous. I'm hoping that IBM will
spell it out.
Even if they say that you can't use it to write open source software, it's
still a step in the right direction.

Hi Terri.
I had a more positive experience with z/osmf installation of a z/os serverpac

A long time ago I had created a ‘software instance’ from a pair of z/os 2.4

I would say the problem is the preciseness of the license (given the vagueness
of the situations it references).

Okay I am going to retract the dataset names issue. Either my z/OSMF decided

I can modify all the names to my preferred names and HLQ..

I do understand what you say, but I tend to doubt that IBM (even the vigorous

I don't know why BAKR/PR is "slow" either, but I do know that it's not
really significant except in very intense usage. I worked on a product
that used it for all calls except small internal subroutines. And avoided
a whole bunch of errors caused by mismatched linkage conventions, not to
