After dinner, Betsy and I went back to try and photograph the Snowy Egret.
It was still there, further north along the creek. However, before we even
got out of the car, it took off, flew out to the lake just above the trees,
then turned west and we lost sight of it. This was just after the

About a dozen birders were out today, covering both the Bashakill and Linear
Park. When we were done, we had a combined list of 97 species! (maybe more)
Highlights were a rather low 18 species of Warblers, the usual marsh birds
(Virginia Rail, American Bittern, Common Moorhen) FOS Eastern Wood
While driving on Rt 18 in the Town of Wilson (Niagara County) this
afternoon, I saw a white "thing" along the shore of Twelve Mile Creek, which
is the western boundary of Wilson-Tuscarora S.P. As I drove closer, I
imagined that it could be an egret but I could not be sure. I pulled over

Bayer's passing. Long Island has lost not only an excellent birder but a first
class naturalist - he will be missed.

Richard Lieberman just called to say there's a Common Moorhen just off
the Point * ... in C
There weren't huge numbers this morning but a nice variety nonetheless.
As Morgan Tingley noted in an ebirdsnyc report a few minutes ago there
were at least five or so Blackburnian Warblers scattered around the
Ramble. Other highlights:
Bay-breasted Warbler (the Point)
Wilson's Warbler (the Point)
Central Park (north end), Manhattan, N.Y. City
On Friday morning, (7 May 2010) at least 6 birders were looking in the
area where the Yellow-throated Warbler was seen Thursday a.m., but as
far as I know no one had come up with it again thru 9 a.m. Friday.
