Sunday, 1st of March 2015 - at the East River off Manhattan's (N.Y.
City) east shoreline & a few hundred yards south of the R.F.K.
(Triboro) bridge, was a Red-necked Grebe (in transitional plumage) not
too far off the shoreline, seen feeding. That area also held a modes

an injured Harbor Seal that was observed yesterday on the beach at Jacob

Shinnecock Inlet. Besides a female King Eider at the Point there was little

It seems like there has been a sizeable movement of Red-necked Grebes into Long
Island waters over the past couple of days. This morning, before the snow made
viewing impossible, Tim Dunn and I watched 16 Red-necked Grebes fly west past
Robert Moses field 2 (in a 45 minute period late morning),
Yesterday morning at 10 a.m. there were three Red-necked Grebes at Point
Lookout, along with two immature male Com. Eiders, a group of Lesser Scaup
evidently frozen out of their usual mainland lakes, and the usual winter

At Baisley Pond Park in Queens this morning, a Red-necked Grebe and 52
Redheads. This is shortly north of Belt Parkway on Rockaway Blvd.
The adult Red-shouldered Hawk was behind the visitors' center at Jamaica Bay
Wildlife Refuge.

investiture into the Men's/Boy's Choir at St.Agnes Cathedral (both in RVC)
I had a couple of hours to get down to Jones Beach and try to see some

Heading south on Meadow brook Parkway, I counted 2 Red-tail Hawks. At the

At Croton Point Park this morning, at around 9:30, there were 23 bald
eagles. There was a mix of adult and immature eagles. I saw the majority
of them nearby the camping area. There were also a couple of buffleheads
were swimming in the water.

A cooperative Common Redpoll continues today near lamp post 249 in Brooklyn's
Prospect Park. The bird was observed feeding on a small birch tree just behind
the wire fencing to the right of the picnic tables. Bird was originally found
by Rafael Campos Friday morning and refound 10:30 AM today by
Barnacle Goose can be viewed to the rear of 355 Twomey Av, Calverton.

A Barnacle Goose being view currently on north side of Manor Rd north of Rte 25
and west of Twomey Rd in Calverton. Best reference north of Splish Splash . In
a flock of Canada Geese. Bird towards the north of the wandering flock. Scope

Yesterday I led a daylong trip for NYC Audubon to Floyd Bennett Field, Fort
Tilden, and nearby locales.
The Rough-legs at FBF put on a great show. Just like Steve Walter, we only saw
2 at any given time, but identified them as 3 individuals by plumage. They
were hovering, perching on the groun
