I am a beginner in pro tools as well. In fact, I tried tosend a message to the
group a while back, but it bounced.
I am getting ready to start a master class through voices for all and I could
use a crash course in ProTools. I’m literally brand new to the industry and on
a tight budget.

Hello Chuck,
I took your advice and sent him an email. Below is a copy of my communication.
Hello Scott,
Today I picked up the UA 8P black face. I am blind and use Voice Over on the
Mack in order to interact with controls within the Mack environment. Though

I'm not sure. I heard about it on the vipaudioaccess list at freelists.org.
Perhaps Phil can chime in if he's reading this.

Think you are confusing your brands there. The Apogee elements do not have any
knobs or buttons on them. So you would have to use the iOS app, (free) or get
the apogee element control, a USB controller for the element interface ($199)
or use Logic where it can be controlled from the channel st

This is why stuff like the Arturia AudioFuse and the PreSonus Quantum is
promising. All the routing is done in the DAW as the latency is low enough now
that we won’t need stuff like the total mix a
Implement accessibility for Mac and Windows folks you mean? Not all
blind audio professionals are using the Mac.
Another option would be to request support for OSC, Open Sound

since we now have a utility to access that with ou
Hi Nate,
No not yet!
Everybody Join me in emailing Scott Greiner the product manager for Apollo,
again.
Bill Putnam only has to say to Scott Greiner implement VoiceOver accessibility
for the UA console app and bang its done!
The squeaky wheel gets the grease!

Thought the apogee elements was said to not be accessible without a ($600)
satellite. And the Claric was accessible with buttons, knobs and sliders right
out the box.

We were discussing interfaces on the list recently and the apogee elements kept
coming up. You can get reforms directly from apogee on some nice Black Friday
discounts.

Nope. Thats how you use the unison effects, and its not accessible. You can
still “track though the plug ins” by load them on the track while recording in
your DAW, but you loose any of the unison benefits that way. Nothing other
than using the Plug in’s in the DAW is accessible with UAD’s sy
Hello everyone,
I went a head and pulled the trigger on an Apollo blackface 8P with the free
satellite. The Sweet water took off around $500 so I said, what the heck.
Question, I know that the plugins can be run natively, but can the UA concil
be accessed with voice over yet?

Hi Andre,
Thing is, Thunderbolt interfaces for drives are really pricy and you won't get
any better performance than the SATA speed which USB 3 can easily handle. You
can get a Thunderbolt to USB adapter or go for one of those Belkin or Other
World Computing Thunderbolt Docks to gain a whole bu
I was more saying same brands for TB drives. But also see my other point that
even though the TB or USB enclosure may have another brand on it the actual HDD
inside of the external enclosure is mostly likely gonna be a WesternDigital (or
a company owned by western digital) or a Seagate drive. So
Yes the earlier HDD’s recommended were USB. I’m looking for TB drives though.

Earlier in this thread HDD’s were recommended. Also be aware that even if its
not one of those brands external HDD the off brand company is probably using a
Western Digital or Seagate drive in side the USB enclosure anyways so any
highly rated external HDD should be fine.

My apologies Slau. Won’t make this mistake again. I should slow down JAWS
speech rate on my laptop.
Again my apologies.

Almost there. I have a Mac book Pro and waiting for Black Friday sales for TB
external drives. I’m learning how to use the Mac before loading PT.
If Samsung SSD’s are good for sample libraries, is there a preferred TB HDD for
recording you might suggest.
Thanks

Ok, this makes sense. What brand and models HDD and SSD should be looked at.
Then I can look around and pick what is best for me.
Thanks!

No problem and BTW, Slau begins with the letter S not the letter F.

Agreed. Having said all that if like me you are using Pro Tools with a
single drive for samples and recording then a good SSD such as the Samsung
T3 1TB or Samsung EVO or pro are great options.
