About a month ago, I rode the SFR 300k event. Prior to the 300k, I rode
the SFR 200k event and completed it successfully. I hoped to add to my
training, but I was only able to take one ride in the weekend ~28 hilly
miles to supplement my 4-5 days of commuting during the week.

Actually, your fancy 10-speed Chorus rear derailleur does. It's just not in
the same location as the Shimano/SRAM ones. The Campagnolo chain tension

Thanks, but my fancy campy rd has no ‘B” screw.
I think I’ll mount the Altus.
It is only too close for comfort on the 34T

If you want to try to make the Chorus work, you could reverse the b screw
to add a little more reach, or you could try a Wolf Tooth Roadlink hanger
extender. I've used the Roadlink with good results.

Hey there Bernard. Not sure about the answer to your first question but
shifting under load always kinda changes the situation a bit in my
experience. As for the Altus, I'm running an 11-34 10s cassette via
friction and it works a treat.
Happy shifting!

Have a campy chorus 10 speed rear derailleur that just barely clears the 34 th
tooth.
Bought a Shimano Altus Rd M310 in anticipation of the chorus not clearing the

The binder bolt snapped because the seatpost was too small. The bolt and
post need to be replaced so this doesn't happen again.

I am referring to a Nitto seat post binder bolt that you suggested to
replace the stock one on my Clem. I am seeing from your web link for a
Nitto S65 Crystal Fellow Seat Post. ...or am I missing something ?

I've come across several 26.8-post Rivs where the stock post actually
seemed to be 26.7. If you're using the stocker I'd ditch it for a Nitto.

I see on Bike Insights that Rivendell made a size 52 in 2009. I don't know
how accurate those numbers are on that website though. If the numbers are
accurate, they show a 57 effective top tube and 650b wheels. That is a nice
looking build with nice parts.

I also will swap the bolt for a black socket cap instead of stainless.

Good evening John. I'm sorry to hear about your reasons for selling and
hope all is well, but I am very interested in this lovely Hillborne. I just
wanted to double-check the size on it before I commit. The listing says
53cm but I can't seem to find Rivendell's dimensions on a 53cm: on their

Did it once. That was enough. Verrazano was tough at end. Lots of crazies.
Right of passage for any rider. Remember, it’s a ride not a race. Bring

There is a lot of overlap in the Riv lineup. Most bikes can handle any
road, paved or gravel, even the Roadini (though I would not buy it for off
roading, it will take a 42mm tire which is plenty big for going on dirt).
The Homers, Sams are more roadie than the Appaloosa, Atlantis and Platypus
