Hi The first gotcah is that the distinction is not very clear. A TBolt varies the frequency of the OCXO in the GPSDO. GPSDO’s that use Rb’s can and often do vary the frequency. Indeed some devices use a DDS to generate an output rather than varying something else. I suspect that is what you

Hi The steering on the TBolt comes from code phase measurements on the incoming GPS signals. The pps is derived directly from the 10 MHz by division. Since the OCXO is phase locked to the GPS, the PPS follows along. Indeed they have the usual “reset the counter” stuff when things are big time o

Roger, Bob's idea is a good one. Your last Oct screen shot shows DAC=+0.475V. Try setting DAC=+0.5V. Don't even need a counter since L H shows osc error. Hope that DAC does not hit a rail. If this does achieve a steering lock then be sure to set the DAC initial value using & >> I. This wi

I am not sure, but I belive that DAC steering may be derived from GPS PPS compared to osc derived PPS signal. There may be a component failure blocking the PPS signal(s). Is there a pulse on the PPS output port? There is no documentation of the hardware available On Wed, 25 Sep 2019 12:20:

Hi Best guess is that the OCXO is too far off frequency for the GPSDO to even try to lock. Quick check would be to run the DAC manually while watching the output with a counter. It should tune +/- 10 Hz or so either side of 10 MHz. As far as anybody knows, there are no official TBolt schemati

Something certainly seems a bit odd here. The LH plot shows the device reporting itself as a Nortel NTGS/NTBW, even though also indicating a Tbolt log file,  so if it really is a Thunderbolt are you forcing it at start up to run as a Nortel unit? It's also showing zero DAC voltage and that's not
