Same here, I installed nvidia_96 through Jockey today after a buch of
updates on a fresh install of Beta 2. nvidia_96 fails to install
properly, Then after a reboot, GDM crashes after clicking on a user. GDM
restarts after a few seconds. I switched to tty1 and sudo stop gdm &&
startx. Gnome desktop
The HDD does not even appear in nautilus. So it is not possible to mount
it without the terminal.

Yeah, sounds like the module isn't getting inserted into the kernel again,
which is, well, very odd by itself, heh.
However, the loader reports an error if it gets a non-zero return code when it
reloads uvcvideo, so if it failed or didn't exist it would bail. We shall soon
see, I guess.

I've seen this problem in several cases in Lucid alphas, and it was mostly due
to KMS or plymouth, i.e. not LTSP related... can you try with the new beta 2
image?
Also, does it still happen if you replace "quiet splash" with "nomodeset" in

This was fixed in LTSP 5.2. `su` was used instead of `ck-launch-
session`, along with $CKCON_X11_DISPLAY and $CKCON_X11_DISPLAY_DEVICE
pam environment parameters, so that now LTSP fat clients properly get an
