I didn't get that with the Ubuntu 20110831-i386 iso I don't know??? I
was tired and Windows XP takes a long time to become "usable" after
booting, perhaps due to the anti-virus and other junkware, so maybe I
just got impatient :^(

I don't think I've seen this on Natty (i.e. Evolution 2.32.2), but it
only occurred occasionally under earlier versions, thus making it hard
to be certain. Given that I haven't seen it after some months on this

I think this has been reported and fixed upstream in

As long as Ocelot/11.10 ships with Evolution 3.1.3 or higher, or Evolution
3.0.3 or higher, then this should be resolved.

The crash is probably due to you nvidia driver. As a workaround try
logging out and logging in again using the "Ubuntu Classic" session with
no effects. Does World of Goo launch correctly then?
