I was running a batch process on my computer (converting file formats and
rendering pngs) when the following happened:
1. The mouse started lagging
2. Panels, menus, workspace switching, etc. stopped working
3. I logged in to a text terminal (Ctrl-Alt-F1) and killed the batch script and
