Actually, as suggested by Andres, adding bind9utils as a dependency to
the region controller package is a much simpler way to fix this. Since
bind9utils is a tiny collection of utilities, it's really harmless.

device br0 already exists; can't create bridge with the same name

In /etc/network/interfaces below the br0 stance I had just to remove

Doing what I suggest above would indeed fix the immediate problem but
this leads to bigger problems:
The code assumes in two places (see bellow) that the first cluster to connect
is the cluster controller installed on the same machine as the region
controller. This is based on the assumption
(FWIW somebody landed a fix recently to suppress the initialization of
NodeGroup.maas_url if the given URL had localhost as its hostname. It
seems like a better way to deal with the maas_url part of the problem.)

Yes, I have tried nvidia-current and nvidia-current-updates, same problem.
Have tried NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-310.32.run and NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-295.59.run,
but got worse , the resolution is fixed at 640x480.
It seems a configuration problem instead of driver support. I will continue
look into it.

Problem seems to be that in gnome-panel/libpanel-util/panel-gtk.c the
function panel_gtk_get_bookmark_file will return the path to the
bookmarks file as ~/.config/gtk-3.0/bookmarks whereas nautilus appears
to be updating the file ~/.gtk-bookmarks. Problem is obviously something
about the condition
