the VM exit triggers a kernel panic, since we were just running a 32 bit
hello world program, which should not cause a the host VM to "exit".

That's a good point. We might be able to rule out mutter... Can you
please run this command in Plasma desktop:
xrandr --verbose > plasmaxrandr.txt
and attach the resulting file here?

This should be fixed in recent Ubuntu's with the change to using
10_linux_zfs because it detects the zpool differently than how upstream
GRUB does it. Upstream GRUB however is still busted.

Hyper-V team just identified a bug where the Hyper-V hypervisor can
truncate the host SYSENTER_ESP/EIP to 16 bits on VMexit for some reason.

pyside2-uic appears to have been taken out in favor of using uic -g
python. The issue then is that the qt5 uic shipped does not have python
installed as a generator, and from my understanding uic -g python also
may produce pyqt5 code, not pyside2 compatible code.

Dolphin takes ~7+ seconds to start after launch. It appears to be
spinning on scanning for DRI devices. It is not io bound or cpu bound,
it's just doing a lot of scanning of the file system for what appears to
be rendering devices (out of my element here) and it REALLY shows
