I believe that the problem is at network manager and/or modem manager
because when running (nm+mm or nm stopped mm running), after ejecting
the initially created CD-ROM (sr0) some seconds later (when it re-
appears) the system partially freezes:
new terminal window opens but you cannot type
Feel free to ask me do any test you need!

ZTE MF636 3G modem cannot used in Karmic
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/408555
You received this bug notification because
After recent updates and/or manual re-installation of gdebi gdebi-core
(using synaptic):
Solved for me (gdebi-gtk works as usual).
I tested booting from 2.6.31-6 and from 2.6.31-999 (build of Aug-19),
installing minicom and adobe flashplayer (new downloads) plus
reinstallation from existed .deb
Solved for my Huawei E169 (12d1:1001) using latest build of network
manager, tested on my h/w (read above).
I added the 'trunk' instead of 'ppa' at software sources, instructions from:
https://edge.launchpad.net/~network-manager/+archive/trunk
I hope this is permanent now!

George

Trying to self-educate I involved in the investigation of this bug,
comparing the output of NetworkManager --no-daemon between a working
9.04 and a non working 9.10 connection.
I am sure that the connection established in both cases (status led on modem)
but with 9.10 Stage 5 of 5 (IP Configure

Many tests done and the system behavior is very bad when network manager
and modem manager running, after ejecting the created CDROM. Partially

I am just adding the detailed procedure I used to get the 'modemmanager

it):
0. boot without the modem, wait for the system to fully load
1. open a terminal window and stop network manager: sudo
/etc/init.d/NetworkManager stop
Additional info: New clean installation of Ubuntu 9.10 daily build of
4-Aug with same problem.

Just keep trying,
approx. same behavior with Linux pc 2.6.30-020630rc8-generic #020630rc8
Attached before/after boot= 19d2 : 2000
After Eject of sr0= 19d2 : 0031
Loop creates ttyUSB7, 8 and 9, Network Manager stops running, the system
freezes at all, within dmesg found:
option 1-3:1.1 device
Then I disabled wireless and bluetooth from BIOS, just to have less
problems and minimize log files.
In my 1st try the system frozen before getting the backtrace!

My EeePC 1000H was a -proposed updated Linux pc 2.6.28-12-generic #43-Ubuntu
