On updated upgraded Ubuntu 8.04, the Language support offers me to install
requested Italian translations but it doesn't install them.
I must install the deb packages by hand opening a terminal window.
For example to install the OpenOffice italian translation i must do:

I've just encountered this bug in an up-to-date hardy on my MacBook Pro.
I have tried a few things to try and fix it, but I haven't had any luck.
In my xorg.conf, I've switched it to use the event protocol with the
specific device.

It actually works fine without creating a root user:
$ sudo su -
# cd /sys/devices/platform/asus-laptop
# echo 10 > ls_level
# echo 0 > ls_switch
At least I am now able to change the brightness even if in a not very
comfortable way.

I just checked that the Xsession script code to truncate .xsession-
errors is still existant in Hardy. Apparently the script is not used any
more by KDE 4? Seems KDE4 needs to get its own fix for handing the
~/.xsession-errors file then?

I updated from Gutsy to Heron beta, and the update manager said it was
crashing and that my system would be unstable, something about xorg. I
seem to have 8.04 installed just fine, but the error said to report the
bug.
