I believe it was yesterday morning, or maybe this morning I did a aptitude
upgrade and 2 or 3 nvidia packages were installed. I don't have any nvidia
hardware, they do not seem to cause any problems for me but I removed them
after installing.

I'm trying to live boot beta1 of Lucid on a similar D620. Both the
amd64 and i386 desktop CDs give me same results. X is using the wrong
scan rates so I am unable to use the system.

would fail to load and Ubuntu would revert to the failsafe graphics.
In synaptic I saw Ubuntu installed nvidia-current (version 195.36.15
...) but mixed a few different versions of other packages with it

the upper quarter which shows the bottom squeezed. And in X/KDE
everything looks fine. It's just out of X: bootsplash, alternate

I have an ATI 5850 GPU and can't run the installation or boot into Ubuntu 10.04

I'm testing out the Lucid beta by booting from a USB drive. Initial
splash screen displays progress. When boot up sequence switches to the
X display, the screen becomes corrupted. There are portions of the
screen from the last time the system ran,
IIRC Geode knows what the maximum clock pitches it can produce are and
it simply polls the DDC pins to compare that with what the monitor can
support.

This is a problem at the kernel level, the touchpad is just being
detected as a normal mouse in the dmesg so of course the synaptics X
driver will not work with it.

the issue is present as well.
