Happy New Year Jester/Nick!
I thought DonO was the only one with multiple pesonalities!

Wayne,
We only know of one - the one and only Niclas Runarsson.
Nick's a Swede by birth and a Redneck by virtue of two trips to
Sowbug and being adopted by Tony and me. That plus liberal infusions
of AW Root Beer.
We're going to introduce

Hi Allen;
I don't know, wouldn't the Swedish government consider moon pies a form of
bribery??
I can still taste my moon pie, tastes like victory! Nick you have no chance
you cannot resist the redneck side. Next thing you know Tony will tell you
he's your father and you must come with him
And the first time we took him fishing he caught the first trout of the day and
it was also the largest trout of the day. Will see if I can find the photo.

Wayne,
There's a lot of truth to the conversion to the dark side. Nick is just primed
and a perfect candidate for the red-neck side with indoctrination by root-beer,
moon-pies, and pickled everything. Just don't get him chewing Red-man. LOL
H... the dark bamboo side. May be some truth
The spine is where I put the guides.LOL
After I twist the rod, I then find the spine. The first twist is on the
original spine. I have made several bamboo rods that had no distinguishable
spine.
There that is it.

Thanks for exsplining that to us. Or is that exspining...?
Oh nSplines vs. spines again.
Thanks for the photos. I liked the corn-cob reel seat, but I don't know if
it'll compliment the 'busyness' of a spiraled rod. I also like the darl/light
burl- that would really compliment the rod
Hi Tony;
Wouldn't the spine theoretically be helical? Ifvso, then it would almost be
non existant or the guides would spiral around the blank with the spine.
Actually, I imagine you can still place the guides on the original spine every
time the spiral lines up with the reference guide, you
Hi DonO;
You got to see the rod in person, pictures don't do it justice. The corn
cob grip is suprisingly comfortable but, Tony's rattan covered grip has got to
be the most confortable grip I've tried yet! And it would look good on a
twisted quad with two side flamed.
Just my two cents
Hi All;
Is Joe Fusco on the VFB?
I know he was on some group I belonged to and haven't seen him post for a long

You okay Joe???

Hello all;
I find this topic of finding the spine in a fishing rod most interesting.
One question I have
for you all is how do you know when you have the soft or the hard side of
the spine?
Thanks for this thread!

Hi Dan;
The soft side has the least resistance to bending or in other words wants to
bend that way.

Another bamboo question: anyone ever make an 8wt rod for throwing bass bugs?
I know it would more than likely be a bit heavy but, always wanted to fish like
