Re: Variable in Dialog Doesn’t Honor Number Formatting

2019-05-17 Thread Sannyasin Siddhanathaswami via 4D_Tech
Thank you Miyako!

I changed the compatibility setting, but that didn’t help for this.

I then traced and found, as you suspected, that the variable was text. Makes
sense, as it’s a enterable box. Declaring it properly fixed the issue.

Thanks!

64 bit. I'll add that to the mix.

Re: SET PRINT OPTION Fails on a New Macbook Air

2019-05-17 Thread Jeffrey Kain via 4D_Tech
Not sure if you're on 32-bit or 64-bit, but printing on 64-bit is fussier -- it
wants to have paper sizes assigned with SET PRINT OPTION that match exactly the
printer you're printing to, otherwise it sets OK to zero and it won't print.
The workaround I found, since different drivers have wildly different paper
sizes, is to use the variation of the command that specifies a print area in
pixels instead of a named paper size.

Tom,

if I remember correctly from one TAOW case I handled few years ago, this could
happen if your $DocPath doesn’t end with .pdf extension.

SET PRINT OPTION Fails on a New Macbook Air

2019-05-17 Thread Tom Dillon via 4D_Tech
4D 17.1

SET PRINT OPTION(Destination option;3;$DocPath) // PDF

$DocPath is validated

Prints to a PDF on my iMac (10.13.6). On a client's Macbook Air (10.14.4) it
creates no document and ends up printing on the default printer.

Any ideas on why this computer wants to make me sad?

BTW, the DB folder is at the hard drive level. There is a PDF Invoices folder
in the same folder as the DB.

Thanks Y'all!

Re: v17 64Bit Label Format Numbers

2019-05-17 Thread Keith Culotta via 4D_Tech
Not to get too off point, but if a field is dragged into the Label form and
changed to a 4D command, the command gets executed...at least the ones I tried
I got "ALERT"ed once for each record in the selection. After that the label
printed with: ALERT("Test") on each label. BEEP worked the same way.

It will also print the value for [Table]Object.FirstName when a field has been
so edited. However, like the String command, only one label in the selection
will print when that appears on the form.

4D Write Pro (where is list of reserved attributes?)

2019-05-17 Thread Jeremy French via 4D_Tech
Can I change a 4D Write Pro table’s id attribute to some custom value?

A recent 4D Tech Tip "Write Pro Object Attributes" says:

"With a 4D Write Pro object custom attributes and values can be assigned to the
4D Write Pro object as long as the attribute is not a reserved attribute.”

Where do we find a list of the reserved attributes?
