Re: HTTP Request when POSTing does not have a response if the HTTP status code # 200

2020-04-18 Thread Guy Algot via 4D_Tech
Thanks Keisuke. Somewhat similar but not the same.

My issue only occurs with a POST, I have no issues with a GET.

As well, the example in ACI0100045, the status code was 200. In my case, the
status is not 200.

I’m trying to connect to the Mailchimp API and the status is documented here…
https://mailchimp.com/developer/guides/error-glossary/

I have also tested it in v18 and I have the same result. In my case, 4D throws
and error and the response is empty vs showing the response from the API.

It could be something different with the Mailchimp API. Do you know of any
other APIs where they return errors in the response where the status is not
200? If so, I’d love to try and test with them.

Peter, you could also put a hidden button on your form. The scanner could be
programmed to trigger the button which would then grab the data being scanned

Re: Error -1 using SQL.

2019-07-25 Thread Guy Algot via 4D_Tech
Chip, I just noticed recently that when the SQL option is off on the server and
I try to connect with SQL LOGIN that I get an error -1 vs a 9918. If you call
the following in the IN ERR CALL method ;

GET LAST ERROR STACK(codesArray;intCompArray;textArray)

you will see the error you are expecting listed.

I’m not sure why the difference.

Re: How to set the file name of a QR Report to disk file.

2017-12-28 Thread Guy Algot via 4D_Tech
I use an offscreen area. For example ;

myQR:=QR New offscreen area
QR SET REPORT TABLE(myQR;Table(->[InvoiceItems]))

QR INSERT COLUMN(myQR;1;->[InvoiceItems]InvoiceDate)
QR INSERT COLUMN(myQR;2;->[InvoiceItems]InvoiceNo)
QR INSERT COLUMN(myQR;3;->[InvoiceItems]Customer)
QR INSERT COLUMN(myQR;4;->[InvoiceItems]PartNo)

QR SET DESTINATION(myQR;qr text file;$path_vT)
QR RUN(myQR)
QR DELETE OFFSCREEN AREA(myQR)

What you were able to do in versions prior to v16 was generate this code by
simply designing the report in the QR editor and using the wizard. I cannot
find the wizard in the new QR editor.

These guys are awesome. Been using them for about 4 years. If you use their

Re: Optimizing and improving 4D queries.

2017-06-28 Thread Guy Algot via 4D_Tech
Eric, How long does a query on the related field take? Any picture or blob
fields in the related table? Those could slow down the loading of the related
records.

Re: Automatic type-ahead on single-column listbox?

2017-06-27 Thread Guy Algot via 4D_Tech
It does if it’s only a single column. You don’t use a listbox, you use a
hierarchical list.

If it’s more than one column then ditch the listbox and use DisplayList or ALP.

Re: 4D and Sage

2017-06-13 Thread Guy Algot via 4D_Tech
I recently went through the process of trying to determine how to integrate
with Sage since a client was looking to use them. Very difficult and expensive
was the answer regarding automated integration.

I have looked at Xero previously because of their REST API but in accounting
terms I don’t know how they compare to something like Sage.

It would be great to hear how others are using Xero. Seems like a good fit for
4D...

Re: Tags in record on 4d.

2017-05-19 Thread Guy Algot via 4D_Tech
Eric,

I’ve used this for years and called it Keywords. A separate related table
stores the Contact Key and the Keyword. You can search on the Keywords and then
relate that selection to Contacts. This was before objects. But like Koen said,
objects would work as well. Depends on how flexible you want to be.

Did you go to the World Tour? JPR demo’d something like this on Day 1.
