Re: [AI] requesting to choose better fone to ask ur all suggestion
Hi Shreyas, I use an iPhone. iPhone and iPad are exactly the same except that iPad does not have the phone features. Rest is exactly same since both run same Operating System. In terms of accessibility, iPhone is really good, completely built in accessibility, you can purchase it and start using it right away! The VoiceOver is the inbuilt screen reader of Apple and is available in all iPhones starting from 3s. I have an iPhone 4. The only issue i have is that my typing speed is relatively slower on touchscreen compared to a tactile keyboard. I believe Android phones do come with tactile keyboards as well. But inspite of that i am completely in love with my iPhone :) Sagar +1.905.929.4414 intouchid: 2010-SAGAR007 http://intch.me/2010-SAGAR007 Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character. - Albert Einstein On Mon, May 14, 2012 at 1:50 PM, shreyas nagaraj n.shreyas.re...@gmail.comwrote: hi all I would like to purchase one fone. [AI] Light-Powered Bionic Eye Invented to Help Restore Sight
Light Powered bionic eye Invented To Help Restore Sight. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-18061174?print=true Light-powered bionic eye invented to help restore sight By James GallagherHealth and science reporter, BBC News A retinal implant - or bionic eye - which is powered by light has been invented by scientists at Stanford University in California. Implants currently used in patients need to be powered by a battery. The new device, described in the journal Nature Photonics, uses a special pair of glasses to beam near infrared light into the eye. This powers the implant and sends the information which could help a patient see. Diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and retinal pigmentosa result in the death of cells which can detect light in the eye. Eventually this leads to blindness. Wiring eliminated Retinal implants stimulate the nerves in the back of the eye, which has helped some patients to see. Early results of a trial in the UK mean two men have gone from being totally blind to being able to perceive light and even some shapes. However, as well as a fitting a chip behind the retina, a battery needs to be fitted behind the ear and a cable needs to join the two together. The Stanford researchers say their method could be a step forward by eliminating the need for complex electronics and wiring. A retinal implant, which works in a similar way to a solar panel, is fitted in the back of the eye. A pair of glasses fitted with a video camera records what is happening before a patient's eyes and fires beams of near infrared light on to the retinal chip. The creates an electrical signal which is passed on to nerves. Natural light is 1,000 times too weak to power the implant. The researchers said: Because the photovoltaic implant is thin and wireless, the surgical procedure is much simpler than in other retinal prosthetic approaches. Such a fully integrated wireless implant promises the restoration of useful vision to patients blinded by degenerative retinal diseases. The implant has not been tested in people, but has been shown to work in rats. Friends, Fully touch screen phone is advisable for totally blind person? Or one should strictly go with QWERTY keypad. Though many friends are using touch screen devices, but as I suppose it’s tough to handle the phone competently without physical keyboard. I may be wrong, that’s why I am in need of your suggestions. Here is a good news for you.. Schogini launches talking Chess Board App for visually challenged Saturday, 12 May 2012 20:25 Kerala IT News Tvm: Technopark, Trivandrum based mobile application developer company, Schogini Systems has launched a talking Chess Board and a talking Chess App for visually challenged. In their efforts to empower the blind, the company has also launched applications like Coloring App and Seeing Apps for Android, iOS and Windows Phone. Schogini also announced the appointment of Mohammed Salih, a blind by birth, as their Brand Ambassador - Intelligent Interfaces’. eir ‘Brand Ambassador - Intelligent Interfaces’. Interacting with the media, N Sree Prakash, Managing Director, Schogini Systems said, “We realised that there is an absence of computer games for the visually challenged and this prompted us to launch the speaking version of the chess game and other apps which will help them. We are probably the first IT company in Kerala to employ a blind person. By the way, the talking chess game can be played by any person.” In his role as the brand ambassador, Salih would take intelligent gaming strategies to teens and youngsters who are reading less and spending more time in front of a computer or on mobile phones and are fast turning addicts to dumb and blood-thirsty games. The idea is to lure them back through technology by making brain-engaging strategy games for them rather than war strategy games. Ram Kamal, Director, Chakshumathi, an empowerment and assertive technology centre for blind, said, “Schogini has taken a bold and unique initiative by employing Salih and launching such apps. This should encourage more IT companies to employ visually challenged persons and also develop applications that will empower them. There are many visually challenged persons who are highly skilled and trained in IT but they are not getting placements.” Schogini Systems is based at the Leela Infopark in Technopark campus. The company’s expertise is in Physics, 2D, Game Centre / Multi-Player based Apps for iOS, Android and Windows Phone platforms. Schogini Systems is ISO 9001-2008 Certified for Software Development and Customer support. Now when your cursor is on one of the selected cells, JAWS would indicate that is it a whole number input between 50 and 200. Try entering an invalid value in it and see how Microsoft Excel behaves. You can check out the other options to restrict input in a cell by exploring various options in the Allow combo box. You can select List in this combo box and specify the list of items in the Source edit box. For example to specify months: 1. Select List in the Allow combo box. 2. Specify comma separated list of months in the Source edit box as shown below: January, February, March, April The cells would contain a combo box with the list of specified items. About Data Filtering: Data Filtering helps you hide irrelevant data from the current view. This is useful when you have a large amount of data and want to view data that meets specific criteria. Microsoft Excel provides two options for filtering: AutoFilter - This option places a combo box on top of each column with values in that column. Selecting a specific value in this combo box hides rows that do not match the selected value in that column. In other words, uncheck values that you wish to hide from the current view. You can apply AutoFilter by selecting Data menu Filter AutoFilter. Alternatively, ALT+D followed by F F. Advanced Filter - This option comes to play when you have a complex criteria like all products costing 500 and above with a total sales volume of 300 and above. Select Data menu Filter Advanced Filter or press ALT+D followed by F A. The Advanced Filter dialog box asks for the following options: List Range: This is the source data to filter For example, $A$1:$P$201. Criteria Range: This specifies the range of cells where you have entered the filter criteria. For example $q$1:$r$2. Here are the steps to apply an advanced filter to list all products that cost 500 or more with a sales volume of 300 and above. 1. Select the list range for example, $A$1:$J$1000. 2. Place the cursor in any cell other than the above range. I choose K1 for now. Enter values in cells as shown below: K1 Cost K2 =500 L1 Sales L2 =300 3. Select Data menu Filter Advanced Filter. Alternatively, ALT+D followed by F A. 4. Specify the following list and criteria ranges in the Advanced Filter dialog box: List Range $1$1:$J$1000 Criteria Range $K$1:$L$2 5. Activate the OK button. Your data would display only records that match the criteria specified in the cell range K1:L2. If you change any criteria then you need to apply the filter once again. The data would not auto refresh. About password protecting and sending a file through email: You can apply a password in the Save As dialog box as outlined below: 1. Open the File that needs be password protected. 2. Open the Save As dialog box. This dialog box opens when you save a new file or select Save As from the File menu. 3. Press ALT+L to open the Tools menu within the dialog box and select General Options from the menu. 4. Specify the password to open or password to modify or both in the resulting dialog box and activate the OK button. Note that you need to type any password twice in the dialog
