but I don't remember when the mail arrived in Access India. can we make 
efforts now also? what can I as an individual do in this regard? your advice 
and direction is much sought in this regard. do web accessibility guidelines 
say anything on this matter?

you won't get reply from them. i have written many mails to them regarding 
capture code while online booking of ticket, but, they are doing nothing 
in this regard. i had also put a mail in accessindia to make collective 
effort to remove capture code from all the websites and to take the matter 
with indian govt, but, not a single interest i received from the group. 
you have only option to fight alone as many of blind computer users are 
satisfied with webvisum. however, i always expressed that webvisum is not 
a permanent solution for this barrier.

Dear List,

Members may be aware that Indian Railways has launched a new train
enquiry system, which has host of features. One of the most striking
feature is that you are able to see the display board online. So next
time if you want to board the train, visit the new system, and check
which platform and at which location your coach will be.

I couldn't test the accessibility of the new system as it asks to
solve a captcha before proceeding further. If someone is willing to
take time out and do it using the captcha solvers and provide the
feedback, then we can write to Cris for sorting out issues if any.

I have done my bit by writing to Cris for introducing some alternative
method for verification without compromising on security of the
system. Although my email has met with no response so far.

YESTARDAY I WAS REFUSED TO GET THE RAILWAY TICKET ON THE CONCESSION
THAT CAN BE AVAILED BY THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED PERSONS. THE SECUNDERABAD
RAILWAY STATION AUTHORITIES WERE ON THE ARGUMENT THAT, THE CIRTIFICATE
I HAD PRODUCED WAS NOT DUELY SIGNED BY THE CONCERNED PERSON. ON THE
CONTRARY, I COULD PROVE I AM ONE HUNDRED PERCENT RIGHT, EVEN BY
PRODUCING THE BAR CODE NUMBER TO THE RAILWAY CIRCULAR WHICH SAYS THAT
I AM CORRECT. WHEREAS THE EGOISTIC, ADAMENT, AND ARROGANT AUTHORITY
(CRI ON DUTY) REFUSED TO UNDERSTAND MY POINT, AND TOLD ME THAT HE IS
GOING TO BLACK LIST ME. I DEMANDED FOR A WRITTEN STATEMENT WHICH SAYS
THAT HE CANNOT ISSUE ME THE TICKET ON THE BASIS OF THE CIRTIFICATE I
PRODUCED, AS PER HIS KNOWLEDGE THE CIRTIFICATE IS NOT VALID. BUT HE
WAS NOT READY TO GIVE IT TO ME IN WRITING. HE MADE ME AND MY OTHER TWO

ONWARDS I SHOULDN’T USE THE SAME CIRTIFICATE. I AM ONE HUNDRED PERCENT
CERTAIN THAT I AM RIGHT IN EVERY SENSE, AND THIS ATTITUDE IS MERE
IGNORANCE FROM THE AUTHORITIES PART. WHEN I WAS DEMANDING FOR MY
RIGHT, HE WAS THREATENING ME SAYING THAT HE WILL BLACK LIST ME. I
COULD ARGUE FOR MY RIGHT, AS I AM EXPOSED TO THE RULES,  WAS SUPPORTED

The freez function is to lock the perticular row or columns. Suppose you are 
entering a data in excel table, as you go below and below on the excel 
sheet, the top row in which the column header is created will disappear. if 
you freez the top row where the column header is created that row will 
always remain on the screen no matter how mutch you scroll down. the command 
to freez is alt+w, f.
Note, this is of no use for a totaly blind person. for this purpose we use 
set rows to columns title or set columns to row title.

Dear Sagar and friends,

First of all a big thanks and appreciate your project on Mobile app to
locate talking ATMs.  As you said in your first phase to cover Mumbai
region I will try from my side to help you with data however here I
wish to seek help from all A I list friends to go and visit and try
talking ATMs for transaction.  Unless someone actually uses it with
success there is no way we can confirm that it is functional and okay.
 We do get installation test confirmation from field engineer but it
is also important to be used by us and to give feedback.

As we know our locality and region better so can suggest landmarks to
be added in the address of talking ATM locations.   Address provided
to bank by ATM vendors are not so complete at times as they are mainly
not so important for sighted users because they can see ATM board and
find it.  But for us as V I address is of key importance to locate or
ask for help to locate.

Sharing a latest incident with our friend Yogesh Bawiskar from
Badlapur.  He phoned me and asked for address and I told him about our
latest installed talking ATM which is at Badlapur, Thane.  He found
it’s located just opposite his residence and was so happy after
successful independent transaction.   At Union Bank of India we
regularly monitor our key talking ATM locations such as BPA,
Ahmedabad, NAB Delhi, NAB Workshop for the blind, etc.

Sagar, by the way Union bank of India is deploying in large scale and
we have more than 50 locations in the Mumbai region already with
talking feature for blind.  We have now more than 225 talking ATMs and
as on 31 August 2013 we updated our list on our website with total
134.  This list will be regularly updated.  Please visit

hello, there's no such option as multi-page or current page scanning
in K12 as far as i know. if it says the page appears to be blank, u
have to change the scanner source again, besides choosing the
considerably matching scan threshold and recognition engine. usually,
u will find 3 scanner sources... keep changing among them untill u get
the output. for me, Static threshold and fine reader recognition
engine work well together.. color data may also work better with some
books.
but the main thing for u now is to change the scanner source and
identify which one works better.

but still on the failure side.
some times it scans but gives the message "the page appears to be blank".

[AI] Accessible ATM locator

Hi friends,

I am working on making an app that we all could use to locate accessible
ATMs.
I am using the info provided by Union Bank of India, however the GPS
co-ordinates generated from the addresses may not be sufficiently accurate.

To improve this data, I would encourage people to help in. At this point we
need a few volunteers who can go to any ATM and upload the GPS
co-ordinates. In the long run the plan is to create an application  to
which anyone can contribute data, basically crowd-sourcing the data.

Please contact me personally if you can help with any ATM data, especially
those in Mumbai. The first version of the app will cover  the Mumbai region
and we can cover other areas based on input from the community.

Anyone willing to help in the development and any suggestions are most
welcome.

  Not everyone would agree. Over the weekend, the Des Moines Register,
  an Iowa newspaper, ran an in-depth report on the fact that the state
  has been granting gun permits to people who are legally or completely
  blind. In one county, officials say they have granted gun permits to
  at least three people whose visual impairments are such that they
  can't legally drive. This doesn't contradict the federal Gun Control
  Act of 1968, which prohibits drug addicts and those who have spent
  more than a year behind bars from possessing firearms, but not those
  who can't see. State laws vary, with some requiring proof of vision,
  but Iowa is not alone in allowing the blind to carry guns.

  Ian Macrae, who is registered blind and edits the UK website
  Disability Now, says this is the logical conclusion of the second
  amendment. "The fact is, US law says anyone has the right to bear
  arms, and if that's the case, then, in the interests of full equality,
  that should include blind people."

  But isn't this dangerous? Potentially, says Macrae, pointing out that
  it's dangerous for anyone to carry a gun. "I wouldn't say it was more
  dangerous. I'd say we would have to be more responsible in the way in
  which we behaved with those weapons, discharged them and so on - the
  person would need to behave responsibly, rather than it being on
  society to say: 'Oh, sorry guys, this is too dangerous, so we're going
  to exclude you.'"


  Last year, a blind man from New Jersey won his legal battle to keep
  and shoot guns - his collection had been confiscated by police in
  2008, after he accidentally shot himself in the leg. And in Texas and
  Michigan, blind people are permitted to hunt, in the company of a
  sighted partner. Macrae says he recently heard a story by US humorist
  David Sedaris on blind hunting, and was tickled by his line "'how do
  they find whatever it is they just shot?' Being a blind person, I
  found that quite amusing."

Hi friends, Now I am trying to demonstrating how to download with FDM 
below.

First I launched the URL:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4P53FtO2iZc
Then I pressed Alt+D and type ss before the word youtube. now the url
looks like?
http://www.ssyoutube.com/watch?v=4P53FtO2iZc

Note: if after launching the just mentioned URL you get any message
like "Error, URL is not specified" then ignore this error and carry on
by pressing enter on Okay button.

Let's go ahead now.
You will see a window openned on your PC.
Now press download button.
After pressing the button, I waited for a few moments and then I
pressed the letter T and find a table there.
The content of the table is:


Title:
Read only, objective question for relway by anita sharma.
Duration:
33:22
Source:
Youtube.com and so and so.

Then JAWS announces:
Table end.

keep pressing down aerrow.
then you will find some hyper text.
it will be like:

MP4 360p

MP4 720p

MP4 1080p

Yes, these are files with media file extension.
Yes, friends, this is the golden opportunity for you. This is the same
as you are looking for so, don't get late and press enter any of these
three hyper text mention just above.
If you have install FDM then it should be launched automatically.
I think there should not be any problem now.
By the way this is the same process as I follow. If any other simple
tric exist then I request experts on the list to interfere.

Hi Sir, Very good evening to you.
You just need to prefix the given URL with "ss" without adding quotation
mark.
Press enter and find Download button and hit enter again there.
wait for a few moments and search for a table there.
You will find something below the table like few files with the file
extension like .mp4 or .3gp, etc.
Choose one and hit enter and Download should start otherwise enter key
should be followed by launching the option called save target as which
can be found after pressing application key.
