Hi Akash,

Hmm then we are back to using Infty Reader. Infti Reader is the only OCR on
the market that can recognize mathematics. Do the following.
1. Scan the book using Abbyy Fine Reader. Set Fine Reader to scan as black
and white images.
2. Keep all images.
3. Export the images out of fine reader.
4. Import them into Infty Reader.

I suggest the above approach because Infty Reader requires very clean images
to work with.

[AI] Novel Reviewed: The Blind Lady's Descendants; Anees Salim, Tranquebar, price not mentioned

2014-07-06 Thread avinash shahi
Does blindness run in her family? The protagonist's memoir, his
farewell note, his chronicling of family woes, call it what you will,
it's probably the last thing he'll ever write.

Because it's all written, already enacted by a doppelganger from the
previous generation and even the end has been foretold through coded
warnings from that man's life. Like the blind grandmother who listens
and forms her own opinions (often cruelly misguided by her family),
everyone stumbles along, earnestly plotting out a future that has
nowhere to go.

completely disagree with their assumption that it is difficult for
visually challenged to access internet, we can certainly use the

As my subject line suggests, I would like to share a number, which is
meant to facilitate visually challenged people by providing the
instant internet browsing help across the country. However, I
completely disagree with their assumption that it is difficult for
visually challenged to access internet, we can certainly use the

Quick Call Brings Internet to Visually Impaired

We are elated to share with you the establishment of Quick Call which

With your support, Quick Call may prove a boon for the visually

For the visually impaired and blind, surfing the internet has always
been a cumbersome experience. Internet has proved to be a great help
for everyone around but the blind visually impaired have always
 been
side-lined. Except a few applications, there is nothing much for

To resolve this problem face by the blind and visually impaired

Quick Call is a platform where anybody can dial

Hi I Have 1 question About interactive Haptic Footware

On 3/18/14, Kriti Banga bangakr...@gmail.com wrote:
hello friends. today i came across a wonderful invention, please do read,
give your views, and share with your friends. i dont know how much it will
be useful keeping in regard the indian infrastructure.

Created keeping visually impaired people in mind, LECHAL (meaning 'take me
there' in Hindi) is an interactive haptic footwear that can be used in more
ways than one. Primarily, it uses bluetooth to connect to a smartphone
(iOS, Android, Windows) and sends users haptic feedback to guide them to
their destination. In simple words, if you want to travel from your house
to a nearby theatre, the footwear will guide you to it by providing
vibrations. If you need to turn right, the right side of the footwear will
vibrate. It can also double up as a lifestyle product that tracks the
number of steps you take, the number of calories you burn and even lets you
set fitness goals. If that wasn't enough, you can share routes with your
friends who too are using the shoe. All of this for a price of $100. Read
 more about how LECHAL works.
 http://www.bgr.in/news/made-in-india-lechal-a-bluetooth-connected-shoe-that-guides-wearers-with-directions-ss314/

The shoe has been designed by Krispian Lawrence and Anirudh Sharma,
founders of Ducere Technologies and philanthropists who want to change the
world and India in a positive way. According Krispian Lawrence, 'Every time
you buy a pair of Special Edition footwear, one pair of LECHAL footwear
will be subsidized for a visually challenged person, through Institutes
like the world renowned L V Prasad Eye Institute, based in Hyderabad'. When
you buy LECHAL, you'll get a pair of footwear (insoles or shoes), a
Charger, an Application which can be downloaded on an smartphone
 (Android/IOS/Windows compatible).

[AI] Social Justice and Empowerment Minister emphasizes on Special Recruitment Drive for persons with disabilities, a press release....

2014-07-06 Thread Amit Bhatt
Press Information Bureau
Government of India
Ministry of Social Justice Empowerment
05-July-2014 16:15 IST

13th National Meeting of the State Commissioners for Persons with
Disabilities to Review Implementation of the Persons with Disabilities
Act, 1995
The Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Thaawar
Chand Gehlot inaugurated the 13th National Meeting of the State
Commissioners for Persons with Disabilities to review implementation
of PWD Act here today. The Minister extensively interacted with the
State Commissioners from 32 States/UTs throughout the day. The
Minister in his address said that the meeting provides an important
forum for exchanging views and experiences and understanding of
critical issues on implementation of the Act.

Shri Gehlot also went through the minute details of the implementation
status across States and observed that the proportion of persons with
disabilities belonging to Scheduled Castes at 2.45% was higher than
the overall proportion of 2.1% of the total population. He asked the
State Commissioners to pay particular attention to the people with
disabilities living in the rural and remote areas and the vulnerable
disadvantaged group.

The Minister was particularly concerned about persons with severe
disabilities living on the margin and observed that a huge proportion
(43.15%) of persons with disabilities is yet to be issued disability
certificates. He set a target of covering 70% eligible persons to be
given disability certificate within six months and 100% within one
year.

Shri Gehlot emphasized that a Special Recruitment Drive should be
conducted in all the States to fill up the backlog of reserved
vacancies for persons with disabilities. He highlighted the need for
implementation of the provisions in the Act to allot land on
preferential basis at concessional rates to persons with disabilities
for house, setting up of a business, factories etc and said that this
is important for their all round economic empowerment. The Minister
emphasized on ensuring barrier free access to public places for
persons with disabilities in a time bound manner. He also informed
that he has recommended to the Finance Ministry to double the existing
exemption limit in Income Tax in respect of persons with disabilities.

Shri Sudharshan Bhagat, Minister of State for Social Justice
Empowerment highlighted the importance of education for all round
empowerment of persons with disabilities. He observed that despite a
range of positive legal provisions, appropriate arrangements for
education of children with disabilities was not in place across the
country. He advised the State Commissioners to particularly focus on
ensuring the right of children with disabilities to education in an
appropriate environment.

Addressing the meeting, Shri P.K. Pincha, Chief Commissioner for
Persons with Disabilities highlighted the achievements of the Office
of the Chief Commissioner during the period intervening between the
12th 13th National Meeting of the State Commissioners and also
enumerated certain constraints. Putting forth certain suggestions for
effective functioning of the Chief Commissioner and the State
Commissioners, he gave a brief account of the role and activities of
the Chief Commissioner during the said period.

Speaking on the occasion, most of the State Commissioners stressed the
need for greater functional autonomy for their effective functioning.

[AI] My latest blogpost in grappling with RP: The right convergence

2014-07-06 Thread Subramani L
The right convergence

The group of experts seated at the dais had barely anything in common.
One was an author and an IT industry leader, the other the head of a
mental health
institution and the third was a former bureaucrat at the health
department. One cause had brought all of them together: taking mental
health issues to
the common public and spreading awareness.

Subroto Bagchi, the author and chairman of MindTree (IT company)
Technologies, who helped Indians understand the strength of our
culture and make sense
of the changes brought forth by globalization through his books and
articles, described the purpose that brought them together.

We would provide a repository of information for the general public
on mental health, he said of White Swan Foundation, a not for profit
organization
he formed.

 2. Keep all images.

I suggest the above approach because Infty Reader requires very clean
