[AI] Require scribe for JAIIB examination at Coimbatore.

2014-09-23 Thread Dinesh Thole
Hi All,

I need scribe for appearing for JAIIB examination at Coimbatore.

Actually, I had selected Pune as the exam center, but I have to attend my
bank's training program at Coimbatore.

Since Coimbatore is a completely new place for me, I require help in finding
a scribe for me.

The exam dates are 9th, 16th and 23rd November(All Sundays)

I will get details such as exam timings, exam venue once I receive call
letter about a week before the exam.

I am supposed to provide my scribe details to IIBF at least 10 days before
the exam.

The scribe should not be a person working in a bank.

The exam will be online, so basic computer skills are a must.

I will be staying at SRI SABARI TOWERS in Ghandhipuram Coimbatore.

I request you to please let me know if any scribe could be made available.

Also let me know encase if there is any organization with whom I can get in
touch for help in this regard.

Thanking you all.

Warm Regards.

Dinesh Thole.

Mobile: 7756985462.

Re: [AI] how to read hindi in a pdf document?

2014-09-23 Thread raaju
Hello gautam sir, thanks a tonne for the chrisstal clear explanation
regarding logic between screen reader and the tts. I was unaware. And what
mad or silly question arise in my mind after reading this mail that what
about lekha tts or any non English tts? i mean, if we think that tts is the
mic, in the physical mic no matter which language do you speak, it will
display your voice to speaker or your voice or whatever sentence you've
spoken will be lowder. So that if we think tts is acts like a mic, why
eloquence tts doesn't read hindi? If eloquence doesn't read hindi, we can't
say that screen reader doesn't support hindi cause if you incounter that
this text is written in hindi, just turn on lekha voice, it will begin
reading hindi right from the track. And why only the lekha reads hindi?

Subject: Re: [AI] how to read hindi in a pdf document?

hi,
Let it be clear.
1. Any TTS of any language in any engine does not read any texts but
it only speaks.
2. It speaks only those texts which are send by the screen reader.
3. An TTS is like a mike not a mouth.
4. Hence a question like whether one TTS supports this or that
application is meaningless.
However, asking whether a TTS supports this or that screen reader is
pertinent question.
Similarly, a query whether one screen reader supports this or that
application is also right.
Conclusion.
In principle; If jaws supports pdf and vocalizer supports jaws; it
should speak the text. However, if the jaws is unable to read the
Hindi text of pdf format; no chance of speaking by vocalizer. If a
person does not speak and keeps silent, the loudspeaker becomes
voiceless. Here the silence is due to by a man not by the speaker!

2014-09-23 Thread Mohib Anwar Rafel
Ok, on a page there is some English text which is readable by jaws,
but in between the lines and paragraphs there is some hindi text where
jaws is announcing nothing. It mean the text in English is not in
image format, therefore how can I read that hindi text.

[AI] ews of Interest: Massachusetts has developed a screen reading app that detects and reads any text aloud

2014-09-23 Thread avinash shahi
Screen readers for the blind aren't new, but they typically cost in
the region of £150 ($250) to £1,000 ($1,500).
But now a Massachusetts firm has developed a screen reading app for
iOS devices that detects and reads any text aloud, and costs a
relatively cheap $99 (£60).
The KNFB Reader app is capable of scanning for text - even within
images - and converts it into speech automatically.

$99 (£60) app is available for the iPhone 5 and above, running iOS 7
and higher. When a user wants to read text, they hold the device above
the piece of paper, over the advert or at a shop window, and the app
will scan for writing (pictured left). Once it detects text and is in
the best position, it takes a photo of it (pictured right)

Once it detects text and is the best position, it will take a photo of it.
This photo is then decoded and the speech begins almost instantaneously.
It supports English, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish,
Portuguese, Danish, Finnish, Swedish, and Norwegian - and works with
all Braille displays supported by VoiceOver on iOS.
It also translates English, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish,
Portuguese, Danish, Finnish, Swedish, and Norwegian.
The app is available for the iPhone 5 and above, running iOS 7 and higher.

for writing.
If the app doesn't detect any text, or it isn't in the correct
position, it will tell the user to either move the phone or the paper
- and it guides the user throughout.
Once it detects text and is the best position, it will take a photo of it.
This photo is then decoded and the speech begins almost instantaneously.
The app will also import text from images into documents and store
them in Google Drive and Dropbox.

Re: [AI] how to read hindi in a pdf document?

2014-09-23 Thread Bhavya shah
Is the character encoding system Unicode? If not, then unfortunately
you will not be able to read the PDF. If you are wondering why, search
the archives of AI for a detailed explanation given by Mr. Him Prasad
Gautam.
If the text is in the form of an image, then you need to perform OCR.
But neither the OCR addon for NVDA or FS Omnipage (as per my
knowledge) support Hindi. I am inquiring about Hindi support in OCR
addon for NVDA, because it should be possible, and will share what
answers I get.
Hope that helps.

Re: [AI] back after one month having an accident.

2014-09-23 Thread Ravindra Jadhav
friends, now stop sending the reply on it.
I was also going under this condition. When I studied in SIES colledge
in Mumbai. After finishing all the lectures. Daily I went to selling
the chocklets in a local train for earned my pocket money. But one
day, wich was very bad in my life. I never forget it. That day i fall
on the railway track and i got severe internal enjury of my left leg.
Fortunately I got my stick and my chocklets, I suddenly picked up and
jumped up of the flatform. I sat on the bench by the help of somebody.
After a while again I caught another train and sold my all chocklets
then only I riched the home. Due to my severe pain, next day I went in
muciple hospital with my brother. After removing xray, doctor said,
you got tibial fracture that time I don't had a knowledge of medical
terms. Doctor said, let him admit in the hospital. But I didn't listen

[AI] Fwd: (Fusion) In supporting of my case concerned with DMRC

2014-09-23 Thread aditi bhutani
-- Forwarded message --
From: Sweety bhalla
Date: Tue, 23 Sep 2014 12:31:27 +0530
Subject: (Fusion) In supporting of my case concerned with DMRC
To: fusion-silver-linings
Cc: Preeti Monga

Friends,

As you all aware my metro accident. I have filed a case in CCPD regarding
deficiencies In Metro against DMRC. The case in progress and I have filed
the counter reply in the response of DMRC against the points raised in my
petition.

Friends, I want your full support and strengthen my case by sending mails or
written on the letterheads, about the problems faced by all of you on daily
basis to CCPD office referring my case No. 1277/1141/2014.

The email id is: ccpd@ nic.in

Address: The Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities,

Court of Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities

Ministry of Social Justice &Empowerment Department of Disability
Affairs

Sarojini House, 6, Bhagwan Dass Road,

 New Delhi - 110001.

For ready reference, my petition is pasted below:

Respected Sir,

With reference to the article published on 01.03.2014 in Hindu news paper,
(for the ready reference the article is attached herewith), I am the victim
of that mishappening. The accident took place on 27.02.2014 on Nehru Place
Metro station at 5 20/25 PM while returning back from my to residence
situated in Karol Bagh. I approached to Metro helpline, but no satisfactory
response received. I then approached to my friends, they pointed out the
incident to the said newspaper. After that the station manager Nehru Place
called me to enquire the matter. I explained the incident and he ensured to
do the needful. I contacted the manager on 07.03.2014, he told me the work
is in progress. I am a regular commuter and since composing this mail, I do
not find any change in the station and the platform.

As I am a regular user, I have acquaintance with my co passengers, I have
come to know this is not a single incident which I met. Innumerous incidents
take place with non disables. Its ratio much more than in the case of young
children, senior citizens, persons with temporary disability due to some
other causes and the pregnant women. Now, the co passengers are also notice
about the irregularities due to the negligence of Metro staff and
administration.

In view of above, sir I want to point out some suggestions, which may
immediately be endorsed to DMRC.

1. The gaps at all stations should be uniform. As much as smaller so that no
untoward incident happens 2. The Metro should have segregated entry and exit
points. The doors can be alternatively marked entrance an exit.

3. The yellow line should be tactile with warning blocks or some other
unique texture. there are no tactile indicators indicating the edge of the
platforms and the floor is too slippery.

4. There should be warning blocks at the starting and ends of the steps.

5. There should be an emergency alarm connected to the train operator in an
accessible place in the each door.

6. There should be the provisions in visuals and audible to demonstrate the
facilities available in the trains on the platforms.

7. There should be the alarm or music sound near the steps and lifts to
locate for the vision-impaired commuters.

8. Like Rajiv Chowk, the edges of every platform should be protected with
grills.

In the view of above, it is requested to consider the feasibility of framing
appropriate policy/guidelines on the subject and direction may please be
issued to the DMRC at the earliest.

Thanking you,

Sincerely yours,

(Sweety Bhalla)

Visually impaired girl escapes accident at metro station

 Sowmiya Ashok

The gap between the platform and a Delhi Metro train got the better of a
visually impaired commuter on Thursday evening as she was about to board the
train at the Nehru Place metro station. Sweety Bhalla, a government
employee, who was entering the train found her legs collapsing into the gap

- which was not exceptionally large. But for two male co-passengers, who
hurriedly pulled her up, she could have suffered grievous injuries. The
incident happened around 5-20 p.m.

"I put a leg forward thinking I will step on the train but my left leg went
in completely into the gap between the platform and the train. It was so
unexpected, I couldn't understand and when I was pulled up I felt bruises on
my right ankle, knee and elbow," she said. Fortunately for Ms. Bhalla, her
co-passengers helped her up before the train's doors shut on her.

A resident of Karol Bagh, Ms. Bhalla travels from Jhandewalan to Nehru Place
and back on a daily basis. "The gaps at all stations should be uniform so
that no untoward incident happens. This is especially dangerous for young
children who can fall into the gap while boarding or de-boarding the train
at rush hours," she said. "The problem is that in some places the gap is
smaller and at others it's larger. There should be some uniformity," she
added.

Ms. Bhalla said similar incidents h

Dear friends,
For nearly month I could operate the computer, since I was bed ridden
after a fall from the inner balcony of my house at my native place.
At four places-left ancle, leg, hand and face-minor hair line crack
