Dear sir,

since JAWS is not a open source, the ZOTERO team may not be able to
test the Zotero application running jaws. They also repeated that
Zotero was too small a project to make proper accessibility checks.
Hope most of the options that are accessible with NVDA will be
accessible with JAWS. Since I have NVDA alone as my screen-reader, I
am not able to tell you how much it is accessible with JAWS

You may also install the Zutila Ad-on which gives some more keyboard
options for using Zotero options...

yes surely, from Group D to Group c there is reservation in promotion
even in group c to group c also there is promotion only from group c
to group b & group-B to Group A there is no reservation in promotion
recently Supreme Court denied reservation only in promotion in C to B
& B to A.

if that is the case, one of us can test it for jaws and give feedback.
we have many technical experts in the list.

They also repeated that Zotero was too small a project to make proper
accessibility checks.
checking accessibility is not the big issue. we have accessibility
testers. they have to develop the accessible version.

Hope most of the options that are accessible with NVDA will be
accessible with JAWS.
no, here there is a substantial difference between the 2. the jaws is
not able to intercept the screen display elements and screen text.

You may also install the Zutila Ad-on which gives some more keyboard
options for using Zotero options...
where can I get it? I couldnot get it googling it. moreover, the
problem is not of key commands. it is regarding reading. jaws is not
at all reading the text displayed on the screen. we can neither use
jaws cursor, nor develop jaws scripts.

A new device created by a team of researchers in India could help
blind people use echolocation as they move about, or determine their
distance from obstacles
in their path through sound.

Blind people often find different ways of exploring their
surroundings, and some use echolocation, which involves bouncing sound
waves off objects nearby
to determine where they're located.

The ability to do this naturally, however, is quite rare. A new
device, called Ausion, which has been developed by Innovation Hub
Technologies, could help
make it easy for blind people to
echolocate.

The device is small and lightweight, coming in at only 95 grams, or
0.2 pounds. It looks somewhat like a bulky mobile phone, and makes use
of earbuds to
alert the user where different objects are located.

The device, when activated, can alert the user of the distance to
objects nearby, and uses different musical notes to indicate how far
away objects are.
The different notes include sa-re-ga-ma-pa, or the notes from the
Indian version of solfège, a system for singing notes (the Western
version of solfège
is do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti - think The Sound of Music).

"The messages are coded as musical notes and the blind person only
needs to get trained on how the device works,"
said
 Vinod Deshmukh, one of the creators of the device, in an interview
with the Bangalore Mirror. "We wanted it to be simple and easy to
use."

Deshmukh leveraged his career experience as an RD engineer at Wipro,
along with his work at the company's design center in Silicon Valley,
and his work
at Mindtree, an IT consulting firm. Co-founder SN Padmanabhan also
worked at Wipro and Mindtree.

The device has two sensors at the front, and is used similar to how
someone uses a flashlight - the peron using it simply points it in the
direction they
want to walk. It has a total of four switches on the side, with two
being for volume control, one being for auxiliary power, and the last
being to switch
the device on or off. The on/off switch can also be used to set the
range, with the maximum range being 10 meters, or 33 feet.

Because tonal differences reflect how far an object is, they can also
reflect if there is a pothole nearby, for example.

The team behind the device worked closely with teachers and students
at schools for the blind, working for over a year to create a
prototype that could
be tested in real life. Now that it is being put to work in the real
world, the team has received positive feedback from almost 30 people
who have been
testing the device. The team will continue to get feedback from
participants in the future.

The device has also now entered production, with IHT having
commissioned 500 units. It will cost 3,500 rupees, or around $55, and
will be first distributed
through different social organizations and schools in Bangalore. The
company plans a wider release in August.

I have personally used this device for 2 weeks,
I find it interesting.
apart from mobility,
I use it to find where exactly is the glass on the table,  instead of
having to search on the entire table etc.
without a cane,
I was able to  successfuly walk indoors.
yet to try outdoor navigation.
so do try it.

for disabled persons they should provide 3% reservation in promotions
whenever there is promotions for general persons, get through RTI in
which all years promotions have been given for general persons, even
request information how many disabled persons are promoted take
information from the year 2000 till date compare with 3% reservation
then you can demand for reservation if there is any backlog or vacant
in promotions. for more you can contact me by phone or by whatsap
calling evening between 7 to 10pm.

first of all, well written subject .

I have roughly checked your university's act, and the ordinances.
Without necessarily treating it as a legal advice:

1. In case of project works, or other assignments such as course
works, right of re-evaluation is not available.

2. You can apply for re-evaluation of the term end paper before
commencement of the next semester.

3. If that option is gone, then you practically have no way then to
wait for their official letter, and then to appeal to executive
council which can over-turn the decision of the vice-chancellor and
controller.

4. If that also fails, then file a RTI asking the university to
provide the names of the students who have been given second chance in
the course works, although that seems discretionary looking at the
ordinance.  And take it to Court.

The above suggestions are subject to any other ordinance or regulation
or notification which may have a modificatory effect and the same may
not be available on the website of the university.

The Work and Pensions Secretary, Iain Duncan Smith, said in the House of
Commons while defending the government's record on getting disabled people
back into employment that "we are looking to get [the employment rates of
disabled people] up to the level of normal, non-disabled people who are back
in work."

Disabled and non-disabled people were quick to react to the implication that
people with disabilities are not "normal". On Twitter such comments as "none
of us are normal" and "diversity is normal"
have opened up a conversation about what normality is and whether or not it
should ever be used to describe those with disabilities.

The word itself is derived from the Latin "normalis" meaning a right-angle
corresponding to a set square or carpenter's tool. George Walkden, a
historical linguist from Manchester University says that later it became
more linked to conforming to a set of standards and in the 16th Century it
evolved further to mean ordinary.

But Pipa Riggs, a blind woman from Scotland has a different opinion,
maintaining that Duncan Smith was technically correct in his use of "normal"
to describe non-disabled people. "Based on the fact we are seen as
'disabled' infers we are not as able as the majority," she says, "and
another way of describing a majority is as 'normal' so I think he was
justified in his usage," she says.

Dr John Hughes, a GP in Manchester says that the medical definition will
vary greatly from a social usage of the word and it is important that
doctors have a standardised view of what "normal" means.

"In medicine there are normal ranges for most things, blood tests, heart
rate etc and anything outside of what is the normal range is considered
abnormal," he says.

At its most basic level, Hughes says, "normal" is defined by doctors as
having two arms, two legs and a healthy set of organs and mind.
But, he adds, nuances do still exist and doctors will have their own,
individual view of what "normal" is.

"Take autism and Aspergers which are on a very wide spectrum and you will
find that psychiatrists often have a much lower threshold than GPs of what
may constitute those conditions. And then look at the terminology often used
around autism, that somebody can have 'high functioning autism' placing them

Hughes says that doctors ultimately tend to use themselves as a benchmark
for what is "normal", so the word is certainly up for interpretation in the

Hi, greetings of the day,
I am facing a strange issue with installing drop box and google drive...
Earlier approx a year back when I installed drop box I was able to use
it easily. There was an icon named drop box on my desktop and when I
clicked over it a folder opens with my files uploaded on the drop box.
But now when I instal I get the icon on my desktop but when clicked it
never opens. Even after downloading and installing the latest version
I face the the same issue Have anyone experience this issue and what
should I do for it to work as earlier.

And the other issue is with google drive where after getting through
the series of links from the gmail account to the download page of
drive but the download link for drive has no response over being
clicked...
I tried with the older version to instal which I downloaded more than
a year back and it's of no use...

If anyone has the downloadable link for google drive or the instalable
app please share...
Both Drive and dropbox were working well on my laptop untill I was to
format my thinkpad for some issue...

what about accessibility for jaws? can't we expect it in near future?
because jaws is widely used screen reader due to historical reasons.

to silpa and george,
while doing research and presenting the papers in academic
conferences/seminars, publishing articles in journals (subject related
periodicals), submitting Ph.D. thesis, or writing books, we have to
consult several sources of information. it is custom (and some times
rule) to make references to sources thus consulted. there are
established standerds for making these references to information
sources like books, journal or newspaper articles, thesis or reports.
the task of gathering the reference information for all of the sources
we consult and managing them and writing them in our Ph.D. thesis or
article can some times be a laborious thing. these reference manager
softwares exist in order to ease this task.

hope my description answered your questions and not excessive. feel
free to ask any clarification.
