I second your opinion. if a totally blind can see, what is a media through
which images travel from an object to brain? e.g. our ears are media through
which audio signals travel from audio object to our brain.

Hi, Based upon the fact you are only explaining, it seems there is lot
of confusion.
Is this training for partially sighted, individuals? Or Totally blind
individuals?
If a person is a total blind, how can he/she be suddenly able to see
after your training?
Complete confusion.

Its not matter of debate! Its matter of larger interest of the persons

visual impairment. Its an individual effort to conduct the session in

[AI] Sharing a succes

2018-11-27 Thread Kotian, H P
All

I am having an account with Indian Bank. On Oct 16th the bank revamped their
portal and introduced visual captcha.
I could not use it independently and I complained to the Bank and also
complained IBA and RBI.

I kept sending reminders but they did not respond to my mails. Finally I gave
them a weeks time and thereafter mentioned I would escalate to Banking
Umbudsman. Again no response. Last Monday I complained to Banking Ombudsman
with a copy to the Indian Bank.
Much to my surprise with an hour, they got back for the first time and they
provided a URL by which I could access the old portal and they also assured
they would work on the complaint.

It turned a happy ending. The moral of the story is to be persistent and knock
on the right doors.
Any blind persons of Indian Bank can get the URL from me.

Harish.

Re: [AI] (no subject)

2018-11-27 Thread mohammadwaseem khan
While using both the devices Amazon echo and Google home what I found is
1. If you are a Amazon prime customer then Amazon echo is more useful,
Alexa can play many Indian radio stations like a IR FM gold FM rainbow
radio Mirchi radio Nasha radio dhamaal and many others, she can also play
BBC Hindi radio from TuneIn NDTV India and NDTV can also be accessed by the
Alexa. On the other hand Google home can play NDTV India but as if now it
is unable to play Indian radio station and FM. Google play music can be
used with Google home but very few songs are available for free subscribers
but if you are a Google music subscriber then a lot of options are
available to play.
2. to play the videos from the Amazon prime or YouTube you need to connect
compatible TVS to both Amazon echo and Google home. Same is also required
to play the videos from Netflix or any video provider.
3. while finding the facts on the Internet both the devices are more or
less ok.
As if now both the devices cannot search the information from the specified
websites like Google or Yahoo but both the devices can search the general
information from the internet.
4. Google home uses Google assistant to provide the information so Hindi
language is also there in Google home. While Hindi language is not
supported by the Alexa as of now.
As I mentioned in my previous mail in terms of sound quality Google home is
the best option otherwise Amazon echo is good according to my findings.
Both Amazon echo and Google home can control many compatible household
devices like lights, TVs, ACs and so on.

On Wed, Nov 28, 2018, 8:24 AM Asudani, Rajesh I live with alexa.

Its not matter of debate! Its matter of larger interest of the persons with
visual impairment. Its an individual effort to conduct the session in different
parts of India and abroad. No one is forced to join the training.

Re: [AI] Visually impaired can see now!

2018-11-27 Thread shobhan singh
Technique of the treatment is completely based on Einstein's principle
of brain. One has to go through 2 and half hours' session everyday for
77 days and after 7th day's session an eye-specialist will examine
each individual's eye-vision on the spot informing you about each
individual's vision improvement result.
This training is free of cost for all the persons with visual impairment.
For organizing training in your region you can contact without any hesitation.
For this training session being conducted at NOIDA please send your
name, age, mobile number and medical certificate on my email before
December, 2nd 2018.

I don't understand why IIT-IANS waste their talent and resources on such things.

Do people type braille more proficiently than normal keypad?

Braille display is required for deafblind but...

Moreover it promotes separateness.

Hello, Tacread is almost a braille computer developed by the IIT Delhi. It
comes in 20-cell and 40-cell variants. It is yet to be commercially launched in
the market. The 20-cell variant has braille input and the 40-cell has qwerty

It has been in works for many years now and according to the IIT people it is
soon going to be available in the market..

Re: [AI] (no subject)

2018-11-27 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
I live with alexa.
She is nice.
But she doesn't search the net generally and is confined to apps configured
with her by amazon.
For instance, she reads Wikipedia pages if asked more information, but would
not fetch information from google.
She would not play a clip from youtube, but would from saavan and amazon prime.

So, what I want to ask, does google home search net in general and fetch and
read information from anywhere?
If so, she is better.

Hey,
I am using both Google home mini and Amazon echo for almost 2 months. what is
found is that in terms of sound Google home is the better option but in Indian
scenario what I found is Amazon echo more efficient and useful in terms of
playing all India radio and FM what I want to say is Amazon echo is more
localised as compared to Google home but Google home also supports Hindi
language.

Subject: [AI] HP quota

Friends
As all of us Indian railways provides handicapped quota of two/four berths in
slipper class.
Recently, it was introduced in AC 3 tire also.

However, they have changed norms for it, making it a difficult experience.

Only the disabled passenger is given the berth and the escort is given wait
listed, or RAC or whatever normal availability is there.

Now it highly problematic as:

1. Escort is given seat somewhere else, maybe in another coach defeating
the purpose of escorting in the train.

2. Many a times, no confirm berth is given to escort.

3. Both the seats are shown as blocked, even if only one seat is being
given to the disabled, most probably normal waiting list is confirmed on the
remaining seat, thus snatching the berth from HP quota.

Maybe, railways has in mind to benefit more number of disabled by giving quota
only to them and not to the escorts.
But, escort is the genuine need, and Orthopedically handicapped persons are
given tickets only with the escort.

On the whole, it is totally undesirable, needlessly troubling the disabled, and
we should vehemently protest.

Now, it is the time for vehement action, if not violent action.

[AI] Any Android-based PDF+DJVU+EPUB reader with an option similar to High Contrast (Black)?

2018-11-27 Thread Saaqib Mahmuud

I'm a visually impaired (i.e. partially sighted) person with some reading
vision unless in direct sunlight, and that too only from a short distance of
about six inches at most!

I'm a student of mathematics working as Assistant Professor of Mathematics at a
government college in Abbottabad.

In order to read electronic books (ebooks), I use WinDjView for .djvu files,
Adobe Acrobat Reader for .pdf files, and Epub Reader for .epub files on my
Windows-based desktop PC.

I'm nowadays using Windows 8.1 on a Dell PC and have the High Contrast (Black)
enabled.

In WinDjView and Adobe Acrobat Reader, I've also turned on the relevant
settings so as to enable me to view my ebooks as white (or light-colored) text
against a black (or dark-colored) background.

Without this sort of customization, I find viewing the computer screen
extremely inconvenient.

In order to be able to read "on the go", I'm now looking for a device such as
the Samsung's Galaxy Tab A (10.1'). Please visit the following URL for more
information about this product.

https://www.samsung.com/pk/tablets/galaxy-tab-a10/#specs
However, I'm not aware of any Android-based DJVU + PDF + Epub reader software
program that offers the High Contrast (Black) or a similar option.

Is there any such program? Is there any free app with this feature? What about
the Android app called EbookDroid? The reason why I'm not in favor of getting
myself a laptop is the disadvantage for me while using a laptop because of the
too close proximity of the screen with the keypad, and even using a laptop
computer with an extra keyboard isn't really convenient.

And, as far as mathematical content goes, the acessibility support available in
popular screen reading software programs such as JAWS and NVDA is very
elementary yet.

Any advice for me from tech-savvy members of the AccessIndia community?
Regards.

Re: [AI] HP quota

2018-11-27 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
Sorry.
I understand what you are saying, but that does not answer my question.
It shows two berths available, but allots only one, and escort gets normal
available or WL.
Then, it shows not available in HP qota, meaning both the berths are blocked.

I can understand if the first berth is booked without escort by a disabled, so
second berth is given, and escort is alotted normal available, but here it
appears to be clearly a policy shift by the railways which needs to be
vehemently opposed.

Subject: Re: [AI] HP quota

Dear Rajesh,

Even I have faced this situation as described in your email.

I guess the reasons could be anyone from the below mentioned points

(1) Indian Railways reserve 4 berths in Sleeper and 2 berths in 3 AC
coaches. Many OH and HH people who book their ticket under this quota have opted
for without escort option as they are comfortable travelling alone.
Hence the last handicapped berth may or may not be available with berth for
escort.Further Madras High court has directed Southern Railways to allow OH
people to book tickets with or without escort. Earlier booking ticket with
escort was compulsory hence now many such OH have opted without escort option
if they can manage and want to travel alone.

(2) The problem of not getting tickets in 3AC coach is even more severe because
only 2 berths are reserved. If the first is booked as without escort option
then for next booking the escort might get a wait listed ticket or may be in
some other coach.

I hope I have answered your query.

Dear friend,
Hadley offers free courses. Those from outside US don't need to submit any
testimonials. They should know English well. You can submit your enrollment
form on their official website under adult continuing education.

Best of luck.

Mohit,

requirement of submitting a certificate from a physician is only for the
people from United State. in your case, your existing medical certificate,
if you have one, would do.

Re: [AI] HP quota

2018-11-27 Thread Saravanan

Dear Friends,

These are the tactics handled by Indian railways to put ourselves in
trouble.

Many of HP persons are in need of escort for their mobility.
If they want to help us, They can extend the seats reserved for us.
Already they started to remove disabled coaches in trains.
Now this. What is their next plan.
Is there nobody to represent our rights in Indian railways.
They want to knock off the rights of disabled persons.
Just they want to provide a political touch(that is just for name sake)
only.
These are the step by step process for cut shorting the rights of
disabled persons. Not only railways, all transport organizations are
running for money and by the money. Our government is provoking these
actions by remaining silent. They have provided a special name as
devyong ffor that purpose only.
Now a days, in our country only fittest can survive. All others should
keep quite.

In Tamilnadu, they are not accepting concession in busses in week ends.
They are specifying the busses as special busses. So, Concession is not
valid in special busses. Here also, there is nobody to raise up our rights.

If we raise also, They will not consider about it.

Let the government can close up the useless concession & rules.

Thanks

Friends
As all of us Indian railways provides handicapped quota of two/four berths
in slipper class.
Recently, it was introduced in AC 3 tire also.

However, they have changed norms for it, making it a difficult experience.

Only the disabled passenger is given the berth and the escort is given
wait listed, or RAC or whatever normal availability is there.

Now it highly problematic as:

1. Escort is given seat somewhere else, maybe in another coach
defeating the purpose of escorting in the train.

2. Many a times, no confirm berth is given to escort.

3. Both the seats are shown as blocked, even if only one seat is
being given to the disabled, most probably normal waiting list is confirmed
on the remaining seat, thus snatching the berth from HP quota.

Maybe, railways has in mind to benefit more number of disabled by giving
quota only to them and not to the escorts.
But, escort is the genuine need, and Orthopedically handicapped persons
are given tickets only with the escort.

On the whole, it is totally undesirable, needlessly troubling the
disabled, and we should vehemently protest.

Now, it is the time for vehement action, if not violent action.
