Hi there. Whenever I try to reply on any mail on this list, the mail
delivery subsystem fails and it shows the message that your message has
been classified as spam. so technically they are not reaching here.
Yesterday I I drop a mail regarding difficulty faced while logging into the
Hindu application, and somebody also replied on same but when I tried to
reply him the mail delivery subsystem failed. Moderator and other list
members are requested to look into this and fix this.

Maharashtra government on Tuesday informed Bombay HC that it was providing
specially-abled students online education at special schools and training
centres run by NGOs during Covid-19.

In response to a PIL filed by a NGO Anamprem, which claimed students with
disabilities were left out of purview of state policy on online education,
the state said it had appointed Jay Vakeel Educational and Research

[AI] Invitation for the 23rd online workshop by Bookshare: 30 August 2020

Dear friends of Bookshare,

Bookshare welcomes one and all to join us for the 2nd part of the brand new 
series titled ‘Enhance your Skills’.

The same shall be held on 30th August Sunday, at 11 AM India.

 

The 23rd online workshop and the 3rd in the current series shall focus on 
‘Resume Writing and Interview Preparation’.

The session will be conducted by experienced trainers who have counselled and 
trained visually impaired candidates in the past for successful interviews. The 
session shall dwell upon various aspects of Resume writing, explaining in 
detail what to write and how. The trainer shall also detail about the interview 
preparation techniques, where she will be talking about aspects which can make 
or break a life time opportunity.

 

We encourage you to spread the word and help others to join this session.

 


How to register:


Those participants who have registered with Bookshare for the past workshops 
need not re-register. The login in details will be automatically sent.

[AI] Eye check-up for visa process

Hi Friends,

One of my contacts is applying for Canada work visa (ICTWP). He is required
to undergo a medical check up which will include an eye test among others.
He is suffering from RP and currently has a residual vision of 1/60 in both
eyes (don't know in terms of percentage).

I checked a few articles and got to know that Canada is mandating similar
checkups on all student and work visas.

As there are many people in the list who have got travel history for
student and job-related programs, we seek some information whether the test
results will negatively effect his qualification. The job he is going to do
can be very well done using screen readers and his abilities gained with
experience.

Also will we need to reproduce our disability certificate during any of the
processes or during travel? (This question is for myself as I don't have a
certificate as of now and I am planning a foreign travel post covid).
