RE: [AI] Google Watch feedback

2023-01-12 Thread prashant.rv
Apple Watch is fully accessible to start with.
But most things that watch can do can be done by the iPhone also.
If you are a fitness freak or want to keep a very close on your body movement
and health then you will benefit from some of the additional features of Apple
Watch.

Personally I felt that I need to give more time to take advantage of the
additional features and I decided not to spend that time on it on a daily
basis.
I am currently using the Apple Watch as a simple watch for my low vision as it
has big and bright watch face. I occasionally use it to receive and make calls
when I am not near my mobile phone or when it is charging.
The thing I dislike most is that you will need to charge the watch daily and
its charger is different. You will need to carry a separate cable everywhere.

Thanks,
Prashant

RE: [AI] Artificial inteligents techknology glasses etc.

2023-01-12 Thread Pranav Lal
Mamta,

I have zero idea about tracking your child. None of the solutions using ai will
track if a car is coming towards you. Use your ears for that. I could give you
a fancy idea where you bought a radar sensor, plugged it into a laptop but then
the problem with that is that it would be a custom solution and you would need
to point the sensor in the right direction and custom build a solution. This is
significant work.

You may be able to use some watches that let you track children but that
assumes that your child is wearing the watch all the time and I do not know if
they work in such a small area. You would have an app on your phone which would
show the position of the child.

Reading is one area where these devices can help. Use apps like envision and
or supersense on your phone as a start.

If you have the money, go for the orcam for reading. This is a tiny device that
is mounted on a pair of ordinary glasses. It helps with reading. Before that
though, try the super sense app or the envision app on your phone. That may
meet your needs.

If vehicles are a huge problem, then you may consider moving to a gated
community. I realize that this is a radical solution. The parks in most
communities are vehicle free areas.

I want to also say, that training your child to avoid vehicles and to increase
situational awareness are better ideas but then I am not a parent and have no
idea if this is possible.
Pranav

Re: [AI] Google Watch feedback

2023-01-12 Thread Aravind R
As per my friend's experiences, apple watch has better features and
accessibility to visually impaired users.
But, pairing with all devises and working perfectly is the biggest
issue along with pricing issue.
I am using samsung watch4 along with samsung phone and watch is good
as reporting our health record is concern.
If you give as gift, i feel to know the phone, which they are using
and gift the compatible watch accordingly.

[AI] Invitation for Submissions | 'Accessibility Review' Series

2023-01-12 Thread Mission Accessibility
Hi,

I, Rahul Bajaj, am writing this email to you in relation to the work done
by an organisation co-founded by me named *Mission Accessibility*. The core
aim of this organisation is to progressively dismantle the barriers faced
by persons with disabilities in accessing apps and websites in India.

In our journey so far, we have worked with reputable brands like Hotstar
and Urban Company, in a bid to make the digital platforms of these
companies more accessible. In essence, we seek to engage with the
developers of such inaccessible platforms in a constructive fashion, to
ensure a fruitful dialogue around making their features more accessible.

No such journey can be complete without support from within the segment of
people that it envisions to help. To gather a better understanding of what
needs to be pushed for when engaging with the developer of any platform, it
would be of tremendous aid to have PwDs give a human face to the problem of
inaccessibility. In furtherance of such belief, we have decided to launch a
series titled ‘Accessibility Review’ through our social media platforms,
which enjoy a rapidly expanding following.

I write this mail to you, inviting you to be a part of this series! What I
request of you is to share your experience of using any digital platform
across India that you might have found to be inaccessible. Our focus is to
highlight the gaps, while also encouraging the positive aspects of the
digital platform in terms of accessibility, if any.

Submissions to this series can be made to missionaccessibil...@gmail.com with
the subject line ‘Submission for Accessibility Review’. In your email,
please provide:

1) Your name, and a short line about your experience with disability. This
is discretionary, but will only help us better portray your submission on
our social media platforms. Due credit for your review will be provided in
our posts.

2) The name of the digital platform reviewed by you. You may also choose to
review apps of various newspapers, governmental authorities, etc.

3) The gaps felt by you in accessing the said platform. Please provide as
much detail as possible about the exact segments of the platform that were
felt to be inaccessible.

4) Praiseworthy accessibility features of the said platform, if any.

5) Suggestions to improve accessibility of the said platform, if you may
have any. Here, you may also mention a digital platform of your choice that
you find the most accessible, that can be used as a benchmark by other
platforms of a similar kind.

We, at Mission Accessibility, sincerely look forward to your submissions!
